Abstract

The invention relates to a large-surface billboard for outdoors advertising. In order to generate a luminosity of the LCD elements of the billboard, extraneous light is required. In times of insufficient sun light, an artificial lighting device activates the luminosity. The aim of the invention is to prevent the lighting device from casting a shadow onto the billboard during daylight. For this purpose, the lighting device is moved out from its beam path incident on the billboard when there is sufficient solar radiation.

Description

The invention relates to a large-scale LCD billboard for outdoor advertising, the luminosity of the reflective LCD panels of the panel depends on the strength and direction of the lighting and for times not sufficient sunlight the panel is associated with an artificial lighting device with lamps, which optionally Spotlight panel from the observer side. The abbreviation LCD means "Liquid Crystal Display". The artificial light is supposed to have substantially the same effect on the LCD elements as the sunlight.

In WO 02/073 57 / A2 lamps are indicated for illuminating a conventionally generated advertising image. The lamps illuminate the advertising image either from the viewer side or the advertising image is, if the respective billboard is at least translucent, illuminated from the back.

In the publication WO 01/88688 A1 , which is considered as the closest prior art to the subject-matter of claim 1, an LCD panel is described, associated with lighting elements, which are controlled by a control unit according to the sunlight. However, when the sun is shining, shadows of the lighting elements on the LCD panel may appear.

On LCD billboards, for example, placed on roads or mounted on house walls and their surface several meters in width and length ("large area") can be displayed remotely, for example, from the headquarters of an advertising company, advertising motifs in any order and delete again. The einzelden LCD elements together create a large-scale image whose luminosity, that is, the brightness and colors for the intended purpose, namely the advertising visible from afar, is generated or enhanced in sufficient manner only by striking extraneous light.

The effect of extraneous light seems to be that the light is reflected on the - often protected behind a glass - LCD elements. As ambient light, the sunlight is completely sufficient during the day. The luminosity of the billboard, however, diminishes until fading, if the daylight, for example because of dark clouds, or at dusk is relatively low or at night completely missing. For these times no longer sufficient daylight artificial lighting devices are provided with lamps in the previous practice on the LCD billboards, if necessary, the panel on the Beschauerseite, for example - like the sun - obliquely from above, and illuminate the LCD elements for Bring lights in the respective color.

The lighting devices or their lamps are installed so that they do not affect the image effect of the respective advertising motif. The lamps are therefore mounted outside the edge of the billboard so that they do not hide between the viewer and the advertising motif within a predetermined angular range in front of the billboard. On the other hand, however, the lighting devices should be positioned so that they can illuminate the panel from the viewpoint side like the sun. As mentioned, this may result in the lighting fixtures emerging in daylight as shadows on the billboard.

The invention has for its object to provide the lighting device on the one hand on the billboard that it amplifies the desired luminosity (brightness and colors) of the LCD elements even in weak or lack of sunlight as if the sun is shining on the board , and on the other hand Provide that in sufficient sunlight, the lighting device can not stand out as a shadow on the billboard.

The solution according to the invention is given for the initially defined LCD billboard in the characterizing part of claim 1. Some improvements and further developments of the invention are described in the subclaims.

According to the invention, actuating means for physically moving the lighting device are provided out of the beam path of the sunlight falling on the billboard. In other words, the lighting device is moved away from its falling on the billboard beam path for times of sufficient sunlight. This ensures that the lighting device on the one hand in insufficient daylight their task to reinforce brightness and colors of the LCD elements so that the respective advertising motif is widely visible, can optimally meet and on the other hand can throw in sufficient sunlight no shadow on the billboard, because it is not in the beam path between the sun and the billboard.

Preferably, the lighting device should have at least one active lighting position with irradiation of the LCD elements for times of insufficient sunlight and at least one inactive reserve position for times of sufficient solar radiation. In the reserve position, the lamps (individual lamps or light bands) of the lighting device should generally be switched off. To produce optimal brightness (with respect to the viewer), preferably a single active illumination position is determined, for example by experimentation. Among other things, for reasons of effort, it has proved expedient to also install only a single reserve position in which the lighting device can cast a shadow on the billboard at any position in the sun.

The positioning of the illumination device, that is to say its movement between the active illumination position and the inactive reserve position, should be in the frame Preferably, the invention can be controlled by a sensor which registers whether the sunlight falling on the billboard is sufficient or not to generate the desired luminosity. Preferably, such a sensor is attached to the lighting device so that it can detect and evaluate the solar radiation both in the active lighting position and in the reserve position. Sensor controls of this type are known per se, for example in connection with sun protection devices. In principle, the switching from the active to the inactive position of the lighting device can also be done manually.

In the context of the invention, various actuating means for physically moving the lighting device out of the beam path of the falling on the billboard sunlight can be provided. Favorable in this sense are motorized actuating means for tilting away, folding away or pulling away the lighting device or its lamps from said beam path of falling on the billboard sunlight. The lighting device or its lamps can also be moved by means of telescopic, cable or spring systems. An aesthetically particularly advantageous eye-catching effect can be achieved if the lighting device during the time of sufficient sunlight is completely moved out of the field of view of the beholder, so for example by sinking in the frame or behind the panel, not made visible to the viewer becomes.

The advertising board generally designated 1 according to FIGS. 1 and 2 consists essentially of a frame 2 and an advertising surface or LCD surface 3, which consist of a plurality of (not particularly shown) LCD elements is composed. The drawn LCD surface 3 is protected by a glass pane 4 to the front (weather and Beschauerseite) out. On the back of the LCD surface 3, housing parts 5, for example, with the required electrical system can be located.

In the illustrated embodiment, a total of 7 designated lighting device is shown on the upper spar 6 of the frame 2. The latter comprises a rail 8, which runs parallel to the upper spar 6 and with the aid of (perpendicular to the spar 6 standing) legs 9 is pivotally mounted in hinges with pivot axis 10 on the spar 6. At least one of the legs 9, a motor 11 can be assigned, with the help of the leg 9 and thus the rail 8 is to be moved in the pivoting direction 12. Individual lamps 13, light bands or the like lighting means can be installed on the rail 8.

On the day when the sun is shining, the sun's rays 14 may fall on the LCD surface 3 or the glass pane 4, for example in the direction of the arrow shown. In approximately the same direction, the light from the lamps 13 should illuminate the LCD surface 3. If the rail 8 is pivoted with the lamps 13 in the corresponding position and the sun is shining, so a shadow 15 is thrown on the image of the advertising space. To avoid such a shadow is therefore provided, the lighting device 7 during the time of sufficient sunlight, so during the time in which the shadow 15 can even emerge from the beam path of the sunlight to billboard or LCD surface 3 to take out. For this purpose, it is provided in the exemplary embodiment to move the rail 8 with the lamps 13 from the active position 16 according to FIG. 2 into the inactive pivot position 17 (FIG. 2) in the pivoting direction 12. In the drawn inactive pivot position 17, the rail 8 with its lamps 13 for the spectator but still to see. For aesthetic reasons, it is therefore considered advantageous to move the rail 8 with the lamps 13 further back (towards the top or back of the frame 2), for Example to swing, so that the rail 8 and its lamps 13 are no longer visible in the illustrated sinking position 18 for the viewer.

In the exemplary embodiment, it is provided to fasten the lamps 13 to a common rail 8 (bulb holder). Alternatively, the lamps can also be designed individually movable. To move back and forth, the lamps or their support can also be attached to telescopes. For adjusting or pivoting of the fastening means of the lamps preferably motors with remote control are preferred. The motors can be supported by spring force, for example acting against an elastic restoring force. The transmission of the force between the motor and the respective part of the lighting device can be done directly on the pivot axis 10 (as shown in Fig. 2) but also on any type of transmission (with gears and / or cable). For controlling the lighting device 7 as a function of the position of the sun, a light sensor 19 detecting the illumination of the LCD surface 3 may be provided, for example on the rail 8, but also on the panel (1), in particular in the LCD surface, and with the motor 11 are coupled.
