Abstract

The invention relates to a large-surface billboard for outdoors advertising. In order to generate a luminosity of the LCD elements of the billboard, extraneous light is required. In times of insufficient sun light, an artificial lighting device activates the luminosity. The aim of the invention is to prevent the lighting device from casting a shadow onto the billboard during daylight. For this purpose, the lighting device is moved out from its beam path incident on the billboard when there is sufficient solar radiation.

Description

„LCD-Werbetafel""LCD billboard"
Beschreibung:Description:
The invention relates to a large-area LCD advertising panel for outdoor advertising, the luminosity of the reflective LCD elements of the panel depends on the strength and direction of the lighting and for times insufficient sunlight for the panel is associated with an artificial lighting device with lamps, which may be the Spotlight the panel from the viewer side. The abbreviation LCD means "Liquid-Crystal Display". The result is that the artificial light should have essentially the same effect on the LCD elements as the sunlight.
The lamps either illuminate the advertising image from the viewer side or the advertising image is illuminated from the back, if the respective advertising poster is at least translucent.
In the publication WO 01/88 688 A1 an LCD panel is described, to which lighting elements are assigned, which are regulated according to the incidence of sunlight with the help of a control unit. However, when the sun is shining, shadows of the lighting elements can be seen on the LCD panel.

January 26, 2005 ("Large-area") can be displayed from afar, for example from the head office of an advertising company, in any order and deleted again. The individual LCD elements together produce a large-area image, its luminosity, that is, its brightness and Colors for the intended purpose, namely the widely visible advertising, are only sufficiently produced or enhanced by striking external light.
The effect of the ambient light seems to be that the light is reflected on the LCD elements - often protected behind a glass pane. Sunlight is sufficient as extraneous light during the day. However, the luminosity of the billboard decreases until it fades when the daylight, for example due to dark clouds, is relatively low at dusk or is completely absent at night. In current practice, artificial lighting devices with lamps are provided on the LCD billboards for these times of insufficient daylight, which may illuminate the board on the viewer side, for example - like the sun - diagonally from above, and the LCD elements for Bring lights in the respective color.
The lighting devices or their lamps are installed so that they do not impair the visual effect of the respective advertising motif. The lamps are therefore placed outside the edge of the billboard in such a way that - within a given angular range in front of the billboard - they do not stand between the viewer and the advertising motif. On the other hand, the lighting devices should be positioned so that they can illuminate the panel from the observer side like the sun. As said, this can result in the lighting devices appearing in the daylight as shadows on the billboard.
The invention has for its object to attach the lighting device on the one hand to the billboard in such a way that it enhances or generates the desired luminosity (brightness and colors) of the LCD elements even in poor or no sunlight, as if the sun were shining on the billboard , and other
January 26, 2005 on the other hand, to take precautions that, in the case of sufficient sunlight, the lighting device cannot become a shadow on the billboard.
The solution according to the invention is specified for the initially defined LCD billboard in the characterizing part of claim 1. Some improvements and further refinements of the invention are described in the subclaims.
According to the invention, actuating means are provided for physically moving the lighting device out of the beam path of the sunlight falling on the advertising panel. In other words, the lighting device is moved away from its beam path falling on the billboard for times of sufficient sunlight. The result of this is that, on the one hand, the lighting device in the event of insufficient daylight intensifies its task of increasing the brightness and colors of the LCD elements in such a way that the respective advertising motif is visible from afar, can optimally fulfill it and, on the other hand, cannot cast a shadow on the billboard with sufficient sunlight, because it is not in the beam path between the sun and the billboard.
The lighting device should preferably have at least one active lighting position with irradiation of the LCD elements for times of insufficient sunlight and at least one inactive reserve position for times of sufficient solar radiation. In the reserve position, the lamps (individual lamps or light strips) of the lighting device should generally be switched off. In order to generate an optimal brightness (in relation to the viewer), a single active lighting position is preferably determined, for example by experiments. For reasons of expenditure, among other things, it has proven expedient to also install only a single reserve position in which the lighting device cannot cast a shadow on the billboard at any position of the sun.
Die Positionierung der Beleuchtungsvorrichtung, das heißt deren Bewegung zwischen aktiver Beleuchtungsposition und inaktiver Reserveposϊtion, soll im RahmenThe positioning of the lighting device, that is, its movement between the active lighting position and the inactive reserve position, should be within the scope
January 26, 2005 of the invention are preferably controlled by a sensor which registers whether or not the sunlight falling on the billboard is sufficient to generate the desired luminosity. Such a sensor is preferably attached to the lighting device in such a way that it can detect and evaluate the solar radiation both in the active lighting position and in the reserve position. Sensor controls of this type are known per se, for example in connection with sun protection devices. In principle, switching from the active to the inactive position of the lighting device can also be done manually.
Within the scope of the invention, various actuating means can be provided for physically moving the lighting device out of the beam path of the sunlight falling on the advertising panel. In this sense, motorized actuation means for tilting, folding away or pulling away the lighting device or its lamps from the beam path of the sunlight falling on the advertising board are favorable. The lighting device or its lamps can also be moved with the aid of telescopic, cable or spring systems. An aesthetically particularly eye-catching effect can be achieved if the lighting device is moved completely out of the field of view of the viewer during the time of sufficient sunlight, for example by being sunk in the frame or behind the board, so that it is not visible to the viewer at all becomes.
Es zeigenSome details of the invention are described on the basis of the schematic representation of an exemplary embodiment. Show it
Fig. 1 eine Ansicht einer LCD-Werbetafel aus dem Blickwinkel eines Beschauers; und Fig. 2 einen Schnitt längs der Linie ll-ll von Fig. 1.Figure 1 is a view of an LCD billboard from the perspective of a viewer. and FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II from FIG. 1.
LCD-Fläche 3, die aus1 and 2 consists essentially of a frame 2 and an advertising surface or LCD surface 3, which consists of
January 26, 2005 a plurality of (not particularly shown) LCD elements is composed. The drawn LCD surface 3 is protected by a glass pane 4 towards the front (weather and observer side). Housing parts 5, for example with the necessary electrics, can be located on the back of the LCD surface 3.
In the exemplary embodiment shown, a lighting device designated overall by 7 is shown on the upper spar 6 of the frame 2. The latter comprises a rail 8 which runs parallel to the upper spar 6 and is pivotably installed on the spar 6 by means of legs 9 (standing perpendicular to the spar 6) in hinges with pivot axis 10. A motor 11 can be assigned to at least one of the legs 9, with the aid of which the leg 9 and thus the rail 8 can be moved in the pivoting direction 12. Individual lamps 13, light strips or similar lighting means can be installed on the rail 8.
Rückseite des Rahmens 2) zu bewegen, zumDuring the day when the sun is shining, the sun rays 14 can, for example, fall on the LCD surface 3 or the glass pane 4 in the direction of the arrow shown. The light from the lamps 13 should illuminate the LCD surface 3 in approximately the same direction. When the rail 8 with the lamps 13 is pivoted into the corresponding position and the sun is shining, a shadow 15 is therefore cast on the image of the advertising space. To avoid such a shadow, it is therefore provided that the lighting device 7 be taken out of the beam path of the sunlight to the billboard or LCD surface 3 during the time of sufficient sunlight, that is to say during the time in which the shadow 15 can be seen at all. For this purpose it is provided in the exemplary embodiment to move the rail 8 with the lamps 13 from the active position 16 according to FIG. 2 into the inactive pivot position 17 (FIG. 2) in the pivot direction 12. However, in the drawn inactive pivot position 17, the rail 8 with its lamps 13 can still be seen for the viewer. For aesthetic reasons, it is therefore considered advantageous to move the rail 8 with the lamps 13 further back (in the direction of the top or rear of the frame 2) in order to
January 26, 2005 Example to pivot, so that the rail 8 and their lamps 13 are no longer visible to the viewer in the illustrated retracted position 18.
In the exemplary embodiment it is provided that the lamps 13 are fastened to a common rail 8 (lamp holder). Alternatively, the lamps can also be designed to be individually movable. To move the lamps back and forth, they can also be attached to telescopes. Motors with remote control are preferred for adjusting or pivoting the fastening means of the lamps. The motors can be supported by spring force, for example acting against an elastic restoring force. The transmission of the force between the motor and the respective part of the lighting device can take place directly on the pivot axis 10 (as shown in FIG. 2), but also via gears of any type (with gear wheels and / or cable pull). To control the lighting device 7 as a function of the position of the sun, a light sensor 19 which detects the lighting of the LCD surface 3 can be provided, for example on the rail 8, but also on the board (1), in particular in the LCD surface, and with the motor 11 are coupled.
