Gemäss Figur 10 wird die Warenbahn 2 zwischen einem oberen Scheibenpaket 35 und einem unteren Scheibenpaket 36 hindurch geführt. Die einzelnen Scheiben der oberen und der unteren Pakete sind jeweils versetzt zueinander angeordnet. Die Wirkung ist vergleichbar zu den profilierten Walzen.   2. The method as claimed in claim 1, in which the cloth web, after impregnation, is broad-stretched in a tentering frame (11) by means of a pair of tentering chains (12), characterized in that, a pair of rollers (3) being used as stretching means (3, 3', 4, 5) and in that in the region of the tentering frame (11), at least one first marginal region (R1) of the cloth web (2) is drafted mechanically in each case with the aid of a pair of rollers (3, 3', 4, 5) which acts only on the first marginal region (R1) .
  3. The method as claimed in claim 2, characterized in that the mechanical drafting takes place in the parallel field (8) or at the end of the conical field (17) of the tentering frame (11).
  4. The method as claimed in one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that at least part of the cloth web (2) is sprayed, for stabilization, with a medium, particularly with hot weak lye, from spray nozzles (8) arranged above the cloth web.
  5. The method as claimed in claim 4, characterized in that only the outer marginal zones (R2) of the cloth web (2) are sprayed, or in that the outer marginal zones (R2) of the cloth web (2) are sprayed to a greater extent than its middle zone.

The apparatus as claimed in claim 7 for the mercerization of a cloth web (2), with a tentering frame (11) having a pair of tentering chains (12) and intended for the broad stretching and transportation of the cloth web (2) after impregnation, characterized in that a pair of rollers (3) being used as stretching means (3, 3', 4, 5) and that marginally, in the region of the tentering frame (11), in each case a pair of rollers (3, 3', 4, 5) with an upper and a lower roller (3, 3', 4, 5) is provided, between which the cloth web can be led through, and in that ribs (6) and grooves (7) engaging one into the other and preferably running approximately parallel to the transport direction (e) are arranged, for drafting the first marginal region (R1), on the surface areas of the upper and of the lower roller (4, 5).
  9. The apparatus as claimed in claim 9, characterized in that the pairs of rollers (3, 3', 4, 5) are arranged in the parallel zone or at the end of the conical field of the tentering frame (11).
  10. The apparatus as claimed in claim 8 or 9, characterized in that the width (B', B") of the rollers (4, 5) amounts to at most 40%, preferably at most 25% and particularly preferably at most 5% of the tentering frame width.
  11.   16. The apparatus as claimed in claim 14 or 15, characterized in that a suction-extraction device (10) for sucking away the medium is provided.
  17. The apparatus as claimed in claim 16, characterized in that the suction-extraction device (10) has a suction-extraction box with at least one suction-extraction slot (13), the suction-extraction box being assigned in each case to a pair of rollers (3, 3', 4, 5), and its length preferably corresponding approximately to the width of an outer marginal zone (R2) .
