Definitions

  • the invention relates to an electrical connector having a contacting device for the metal mesh jacket of shielded cables, by means of which the metal mesh jacket of a shielded cable is electrically conductively contacted with a connector housing, having the features of the preamble of claim 1.
  • the two ring elements have a corresponding conical shape, such that the inner ring element can be inserted with a wedge-shaped cone under the cable shield and the outer ring element has a conically widening inner peripheral surface.
  • the outer ring element is displaced axially in the direction of the inner ring element and clamps the cable shield between itself in the covering area.
  • a disadvantage of this design is that the cable shield after stripping the cable sheath with great care must be cut to a suitable length for contacting.
  • a further design form which consists essentially of a contact carrier, a housing receiving the contact carrier, an end cap which can be screwed onto it and a spacer sleeve, and in which the contacting device, which is in electrically conductive connection with the housing, for the Cable shield is formed of two mutually complementary trained ring elements.
  • the inner ring member is the cable shield under cross and the outer ring member arranged across the cable shield, the two ring elements in the mounted position at least partially mutual overlap include a length of the cable shield between them.
  • At least one of the two mutually complementary ring elements is provided with a receiving space for a length range of the cable, wherein the two ring elements together form a take-up device for the excess length of the stripped cable shield, thereby eliminating a circumcision of the cable shield.
  • the winding device is formed by formed on the outer ring member, axially aligned projections which project into the cup-shaped receiving space of the inner ring member in the axial direction.
  • axial clearances are provided with arcuate recesses between the tabs formed as projections.
  • the supernatants are taken along with the rotation of the outer ring element and wound up. It is disadvantageous that the two ring elements have a complex geometry, which causes high initial costs and a high price per part. In addition, the assembly is designed by the unbundling of the cable shield time-consuming.
  • the invention is based on the object to improve a contacting device for the cable shield of an electrical connector of the type described above in such a way that it allows for absolutely secure contacting a simplification of assembly work and a reduction in unit costs.
  • the inner ring member and the outer ring member are arranged across.
  • the ring elements have spaced lateral surfaces which form between them a receiving space for receiving a length region of the cable shield.
  • the cable shield is folded by 180 ° about an end face of the inner ring element pointing in the direction of the outer ring element and is overlapped at its end by the outer ring element.
  • the inner ring element engages over a first length region of the cable shield on its inner side, which connects directly to the non-stripped part of the cable, and which extends in the region of the inner ring member along the cable.
  • the cable shield is slipped around the cable by 180 ° in the direction of the outer ring element.
  • the inner ring element engages under the cable shield at its end in a second, adjoining the first length region Length range of the cable shield.
  • the receiving space of the contacting device serves to receive the axial length of the inner ring element superior second length range of the cable shield.
  • the inner and outer ring members are rotatable with respect to each other and together form a take-up device that, upon rotation of the outer ring member on the inner ring member, winds the second length portion forming the end of the cable shield into the receiving space.
  • the lateral surface of the outer ring member on the side facing the inner ring member has a plurality of arranged on one or more imaginary circular rings, radially protruding, bending rigid drivers, which extend to the outer surface of the inner ring member.
  • the drivers engage in the assembled state in the cable shield in the stripped area of the cable frictionally.
  • the inner ring element has retaining elements for the first length region of the cable shield, which prevent winding of the cable shield in the region between the inner ring element and the cable during winding of the length range of the cable shield to be accommodated in the receiving space.
  • the holding elements can be arranged on an inner circumferential surface or on the outer ring element facing end face of the inner ring member.
  • the two ring elements are rotatably locked together in the axial direction.
  • the carriers of the outer ring member are arranged with a arranged on an outer surface of the inner ring member, circumferential bead in engagement. The lock ensures that, as the outer ring element rotates, the overlap area between both ring elements and one of them formed receiving space is retained or the cable shield remains in the receiving space.
  • the outer ring element on its outer circumferential surface on a radial collar with a front profiling, which is provided for rotationally secure support in the housing.
  • the ring elements are formed smooth-walled in the overlapping area apart from the protruding dogs. This allows favorable initial and manufacturing costs for the ring elements.
  • the inner ring element of the contacting device consists of a shaped metal body and the outer ring element of a molded plastic body.
  • the contacting device according to the invention also has the advantage that it allows an inaccurate stripping of the cable during assembly, in contrast to the prior art, since the ring elements can be moved axially forward by the length of the overlapped area. Thus, the cable and thus also the cable shield can be stripped longer by this length.
  • the contacting device 1 of the electrical connector according to the invention shown in Figures 1 and 2 is provided for contacting a cable shield 2 of a shielded electrical cable 3 with a metallic connector housing, not shown.
  • the contacting device 1 of the connector is formed by two complementary trained ring elements 4 and 5, which partially overlap and enclose the cable shield 2 between them.
  • the two ring elements 4 and 5 are hollow cylindrical and are penetrated by the cable 3.
  • the inner ring element 4 engages over the cable 3 with a rear ring region 6 which points in the direction of the outer ring element 5, a first length region 7 of the cable shield 2 extending between the inner ring element 4 and the cable 3.
  • the inner ring element 4 engages over the first length region 7 of the cable shield 2.
  • the cable shield 2 is folded around an end face 8 of the inner ring element 4 by 180 °, with a second longitudinal region 9 of the cable shield 2 at least the inner ring element 4 partially overlaps.
  • the outer ring element 5 is pushed axially over the rear ring area 6 of the inner ring element 4 and over the second length area 9 of the cable shield 2.
  • the outer ring member 5 engages over the second length portion 9 of the cable shield 2 and the rear ring portion 6 of the inner ring member 4.
  • the two ring elements 4 and 5 overlap in the rear ring portion 6 of the inner ring member 4.
  • the two ring elements 4 and 5 point in their coverage area from each other spaced lateral surfaces 10 and 11, which form a receiving space 12 between them.
  • the receiving space 12 serves to receive the axial length of the inner ring member 4 superior second length portion 9 of the cable shield second
  • the inner ring element 4 and the outer ring element 5 are rotatable relative to one another and form a take-up device for the second length region 9 of the cable shield 2.
  • the outer surface 11 of the outer ring element 5 has a plurality of drivers 13 on the side facing the inner ring element 4.
  • the drivers 13 are designed rigid and occur in the radial direction of the lateral surface 11 of the outer ring member 5.
  • the drivers 7 extend up to the lateral surface 10 of the inner ring element 4.
  • the two ring elements 4 and 5 are rotatably locked together in the axial direction.
  • the drivers 13 of the outer ring member 5 engage behind a bead 14 which is circumferentially arranged on the lateral surface 10 of the inner ring member 4.
  • the drivers 13 engage in the assembled state in the cable shield 2 a non-positively.
  • the second length portion 9 of the cable shield 3 between the lateral surfaces 10 and 11 of the two ring elements 4 and 5 is spirally wound.
  • the cable shield 2 is clamped between the end face 8 of the inner ring element 4 and a contact surface 18 of the outer ring element 5.
  • the inner ring member 4 has on its end face 8 retaining elements 15, which prevent winding of the cable shield 2 in the region between the inner ring member 4 and the cable 3 during winding of the accommodated in the receiving space 12 second length portion 9 of the cable shield 2.
  • the outer ring element 5 has on its outer lateral surface a radial collar 16 with a front profiling 17.
  • the end profiling 17 engages in a corresponding, not shown end profiling of the connector housing and serves for rotationally secure support in the housing.
  • the ring elements 4 and 5 are executed in the overlap area except for the protruding drivers 7 smooth-walled and are in particular free of openings and recesses.
  • the mounting of the contacting device is such that after stripping the cable 3 of the cable shield 2 bent over by slipping the inner ring member 4 in the direction of cable 3 and then folded by the counter-movement of the previously threaded onto the cable 3 outer ring member 5 and between the two ring elements. 4 , 5 is inserted. By turning the outer ring member 5, the still projecting end 9 of the cable shield 3 is then wound by means of the driver 13 and stowed in the receiving space 12.
