Description
SURFACE-SPRAYING DEVICE
A device designed for spraying surfaces to be used to coat outer surfaces of buildings, engineering, road and similar structures with sulphur polymer-based agents, is the object of an invention.
Sulphur polymer has been used to a limited extend for proofing materials so far, which has been described in Polish Patent Application No. P-341996. According to this invention, the procedure of proofing materials with sulphur polymer consist in heating, preferably with microwaves, of a material to be proofed, at least on a surface to be proofed, to a temperature between 100°C and 270°C, and then coating the surface to be proofed with sulphur polymer saturated preferably in a carbon dioxide atmosphere, where sulphur polymer occurs in the form of powder and/or liquid and/or emulsion amounting to 0.03 - 0.7 kg/m2, or material to be proofed is immersed in liquid sulphur polymer saturated preferably in a carbon dioxide atmosphere, heated to a temperature between 120°C and 140°C and for a time between 1 s and 20 s, and then sulphur polymer impact on the material to be proofed is stopped by heating it additionally to a temperature up to 350°C until proofed surface dries and cools to ambient temperature.
The purpose of the invention is to develop a mobile device designed to make coats using sulphur polymer-based agents which function is to proof and seal coated surfaces making them protected against weather impacts. The device can also be used as a batch feeder of sulphur polymer for reeling aggregates in mixing plants.
According to the invention, a surface-spraying device characteristic is that the device is mounted on a moving platform fitted with road wheels, with a sulphur polymer tank placed on it fitted with a heating jacket, an agitator and a sulphur polymer pellets and/or powder batch feeder, where the sulphur polymer tank is connected to a pressure tank with operating pressure up to 150 bars heated to a temperature of 135°C that is fitted with a valve connecting it to a pressure pump and an electrically-heated hose ending in a spraying nozzle, while a sulphur polymer preparation and spraying process is controlled by a control module. The hose feeding sulphur polymer from the pressure tank to the nozzle is electrically heated and so is its end in the form of a nozzle, while both the hose and the nozzle are fitted with temperature regulators, and compressed air is heated by temperature-regulated hot air in a heat exchanger.
The object of the invention has been presented as an example in a diagrammatic drawing.
The surface-spraying device, as shown in the drawing, consists of a sulphur polymer melting tank 1 sulphur polymer is fed to in the form of pellets or powder by a feeder 2 being simultaneously mixed by an agitator 3 and heated by a heating jacket 4 to a temperature between 125°C and 135°C. The tank 1_ is fitted with a valve 5 and feeds molten sulphur polymer cyclically to a heated pressure tank 6 fitted with an agitator 7 and a valve 8 is connected with a pressure pump 9 and an electrically heated hose 10 with a handle and a spraying nozzle H and a spraying switch 12. A sulphur polymer spraying process is performed in temperatures ranging from 100°C to 135°C, and since sulphur polymer shows variable viscosity depending on a temperature it is important that the whole process of sulphur polymer melting, storing and spraying is performed in a stable temperature and as short time as possible so that sulphur polymer keeps the lowest possible viscosity.
The device can operate in two modes characterised by molten sulphur polymer low or high pressure obtained in the spraying nozzle 1 ..
In a low-pressure system, sulphur polymer flows from the tank 6 after the valve 8 has been opened by switch 12 signal, through the idle pressure pump 9, the heated hose 10 and is delivered to the spraying nozzle H and, at the same time, a polymer stream is additionally splashed by a hot air stream generated by a flow heater 13 with precision temperature regulation. Sulphur polymer operating pressure in the tank 6 is up to 12 bars and it is achieved from an air cushion 14 generated by an external air pressure source that can be a compressor 15.
In a high-pressure system, sulphur polymer flows from the tank 6 after the valve 8 has been opened by switch 12 signal, to the pressure pump 9 that feeds sulphur polymer under a pressure up to 150 bars through the heated hose 10 to the spraying nozzle 11.
Co-operation of individual components is controlled by a module 16 mounted on a moving platform 7 fitted with wheels 18.
