Description

WALL, PARTICULARLY FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS
The present invention relates to a wall particularly for the construction of buildings. In so-called developing countries, the problem of constructing buildings, particularly dwellings, is increasingly crucial and cannot be solved in a short time by using conventional construction techniques, due to lack of infrastructure, which entails transport problems, lack of qualified personnel, and most of all difficulty in finding construction materials. Materials used traditionally, particularly in prefabricated or industrialized systems, have drawbacks such as weight in the case of cement, brittleness in the case of plastics, or cost in the case of wood. In the case of cement, its weight causes problems in transport and assembly; the cost of wood makes it a prohibitive choice in developing countries. Plastics also is expensive, if it is of high quality, while low quality plastics is not mechanically resistant, especially to heat. The aim of the present invention is to provide a wall, particularly useful in the construction of houses, that overcomes the drawbacks of the cited prior art. An object of the invention is to provide a wall that is lightweight and easy to assemble. A further important object of the invention is to provide a wall that has a high insulation coefficient. A further object is to provide a wall by using materials that are inexpensive and easy to find. This aim and these and other objects that will become better apparent hereinafter are achieved by a wall particularly for the construction of buildings, characterized in that it comprises at least one pair of metallic profiled members, anchored to uprights so as to form a cavity filled with soil, sand or other material having an insulating function. Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the following detailed description of preferred but not exclusive embodiments of the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 is a cutout perspective view of the wall according to the invention; Figure 2 is an exploded perspective view of an upright applied to a ground track; Figure 3 is a side lateral elevation view of the wall according to the invention; Figure 4 is a cutout and sectional elevation side view of the connection to the ground track and to an upper beam of the wall; Figure 5 is an enlarged-scale perspective view of a detail of a bracket for supporting the profiled members; Figure 6 is a front elevation view of a house comprising the wall according to the invention. With reference to the cited figures, the wall according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1 , comprises metallic profiled members 2, each of which has a substantially flat face and contoured edges that allow to arrange each profiled member side by side by engaging its edge with the adjacent profiled member. The profiled members 2 are anchored to vertical uprights 3 that also act as separators so that the profiled members form a cavity that is defined by an outer face 23, which is formed by external profiled members, and an inner face 22, which is formed by inner profiled members. According to the invention, the cavity is filled with soil, sand, or other insulating material, designated by the reference numeral 4. Preferably, the uprights 3 are anchored to a ground track 5, also constituted by a metallic profiled member, which has a slot for engaging a fastening means, constituted for example by bolts 6, suitable to fasten each upright 3 to the ground track 5. Preferably, each upright is constituted by two profiled members 7, each shaped as a double L, that are joined by means of hook-shaped brackets or clips 8 that are also adapted to support and fasten the metallic profiled members 2 that constitute the wall. In order to associate beams 11 , or another structural member of the building, with the walls, the uprights 3 are provided with fastening brackets 12. The wall according to the invention is used to construct buildings such as a house 13, wherein the walls 1 , including the ones that have a load-bearing function, are constituted by the wall according to the invention. The wall according to the invention is assembled in place by using the structural members constituted by the metallic profiled members, by the uprights and by the other metallic accessories transported to the construction site. Once the uprights and the profiled members have been assembled, the internal cavity thus formed can be filled with soil, sand and other locally available materials. Assembly of the wall is extremely simple and quick, and because the insulating material is found locally it is also extremely low in cost. In practice it has been found that the invention achieves the intended aim and objects, providing a wall that is constituted by metallic profiled members that are easy to transport and have a relatively low cost and by an insulating material that can be ordinary soil or sand that can be found directly in the vicinity of the building. The wall according to the invention is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, within the scope of the appended claims; all the details may be replaced with technically equivalent elements. The materials used, as well as the dimensions, may of course be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
