As a result of the radial adjustment of the guide arc 34, the pivoting position of the lever 19 and with it the position of the cover 18 b is changed, as a result, the effective depth of the bundle decrease notch 12 b can be varied.

Claims (4)

  1. A tuft picking device for a brush making machine, comprising a bristle magazine for receiving a supply of bristles, past which a tuft picker (10b) having a tuft picking notch (12b) is movable over a working stroke, at least one covering member (18b) which is adapted to be shifted across the profile of the tuft picking notch (12b) and in this way varies the effective depth thereof, and an adjusting device by means of which the covering member (18b) can be adjusted in each working stroke so as to be able to vary the effective depth of the tuft picking notch (12b) from one working stroke to the next, the covering member (18b) being formed by one end of a two-armed lever (19) which is mounted at the tuft picker (10b) for pivoting about a pin (21).
  2. The tuft picking device according to claim 1, in which the tuft picker (10b) is curved along a circular arc and can be pivoted about a fixed axis (A), and the adjusting device engages a guide curve (34) which is radially displaceable in relation to the axis and in which a cam follower (32) is guided in a constrained fashion which actuates the covering member (18b).
  3. The tuft picking device according to claim 2, in which the cam follower (32) is arranged at the other end of the two-armed lever (19).
  4. The tuft picking device according to claim 3, in which the cam follower (32) is formed by a roller (32) mounted for rotation on the two-armed lever (19).
