Abstract

La présente invention concerne un système de pistage (10) pour le suivi de biens mobiliers (16) ainsi que plusieurs procédés permettant d'utiliser le système. Ce système de pistage comporte un dispositif de surveillance (22), un réseau d'informations de pistage (20), un réseau téléinformatique (18), un badge de pistage (12), et un serveur d'information de pistage (14). Le badge de pistage utilise la technologie GPS. Le serveur d'information de pistage fournit au badge de pistage des informations programmées, dans des messages via un système de messagerie. Le badge de pistage récupère sélectivement les messages dans le système de messagerie. Le serveur d'informations de pistage fournit à un abonné des informations de pistage et les informations s'y rapportant. Dans un mode de réalisation, l'étiquette de pistage est en communication avec une constellation de satellites Iridium (28), l'information de pistage s'affichant chez l'abonné lorsque le bien mobilier est sensiblement quelque part dans le monde. Dans un autre mode de réalisation, le dispositif de surveillance est en communication avec la constellation de satellites Iridium, l'information de pistage s'affichant chez l'abonné lorsque l'abonné est sensiblement quelque part dans le monde, de préférence via l'Internet (36).
