Die Kommunikationseinheit ist an den Kommunikations-Baustein angepasst und konstruktiv so gestaltet, daß die Kommunikationseinheit jederzeit bei Bedarf durch den Kunden selbst über eine Öffnung im Frankiermaschinengehäuse in das Fach eingeführt und mit einer Steckbewegung mit einer im Sicherheitsbereich der Frankiermaschine angeordneten Hauptsteuerungsplatine (Mainboard) verbunden werden kann.
Auf einer der Rückwand des Gerätes zugewandten Seite und orthogonal zur Steckrichtung weist die Kommunikationseinheit eine Netzanschlussbuchse für den Anschluß an ein Kommunikationsnetz auf. Die Kommunikationseinheit ist entsprechend der fachförmigen Kavität in Form und Größe ausgebildet. Die Kommunikationseinheit weist eine Träger-Leiterplatte auf, welche den Kommunikationsbaustein an das erste Verbindungselement adaptiert und eine einfache Kontaktierung via erstes Verbindungselement und Erdung ohne Kabel via mindestens einer Schraube oder Mutter und einem Bolzen ermöglicht, der mit einem Metallchassisteil (nicht sichtbar) elektrisch leitend und mechanisch verbunden ist, wobei der Bolzen ein Innen- oder Außengewinde aufweist.

Das offene erste Fach 20 weist im Inneren Verbindungselemente zur Kontaktierung der Kommunikationseinheit auf. Letztere hat mindestens ein erstes Verbindungselement 11. Das offene erste Fach 20 hat im Inneren zweite und dritte Verbindungselemente 12 und 31, 32, 33. Sie bewirken eine Befestigung und elektrische Erdung der Kommunikationseinheit mit dem Chassis. Die Steckerleiste bewirkt eine elektrische Verbindung der Kommunikationseinheit mit dem Mainboard.
Ein Sicherheitsdeckel 9 verschliesst eine weitere Kavität im Boden, die für ein Sicherheitsmodul vorgesehen ist. Ein weiterer Sicherheitsdeckel 29 ist für die Abdeckung des Gehäuseverschlusses vorgesehen. Die Sicherheitsdeckel 9 und 29 sind solche dem Zugangsschutz dienende Kunststoffteile, die nur durch deren Zerstörung einen Zugang freigeben.

Die leichte Montierbarkeit durch Stecken der Kommunikationseinheit erlaubt es den Kunden, zum Beispiel ein Modem, ISDN-Karte oder dergleichen zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt zu montieren. Dadurch kann flexibler auf örtliche Gegebenheiten und den technischen Fortschritt reagiert werden. Die selbe Klappe 25 kann durch den Kunden nach Montage des Modems wieder befestigt werden.
Ein Mikroprozessor auf dem Mainboard ist programmiert, daß eine (Modem-)Typerkennung und Adaption an das jeweilige Kommunikationsnetz mit Einwahl des Amtszuganges automatisch erfolgt und dass das Modem oder die ISDN-Karte oder eine andere Kommunikationseinheit initialisiert wird. Die länderspezifischen Telefonanlagen weisen gewöhnlich technische Besonderheiten auf, welche vor dem Zustandekommen einer Datenübermittlung zu beachten sind. Der Frankiermaschinenhersteller hat entsprechende Routinen im Programmspeicher des Gerätes gespeichert bzw. vorinstalliert damit die Installation halb- oder vollautomatisch ablaufen kann. Der Frankiermaschinenhersteller liefert entsprechende schriftliche Hinweise zusammen mit der Kommunikationseinheit. Alle weiteren erforderlichen Änderung und Einstellungen können ggf. über das Userinterface der Frankiermaschine erfolgen.

Für die Schrauben sind entsprechende Bohrlöcher 171, 172, 173 zur Zentrierung, Befestigung und Kontaktierung in die Träger-Leiterplatte 17 eingearbeitet, wobei die Bohrlöcher 171, 172, 173 metallisiert sind oder eine nahegelegene Metallleiterschicht im Randbereich haben. Über die Schrauben 131, 132, 133 oder vergleichbare andere Kontaktier- und Befestigungselemente erfolgt eine Befestigung und Erdung der Träger-Leiterplatte 17 durch Anpressen deren Metallleiterschicht gegen die Abstandshaltebolzen oder vergleichbare andere ein dritte Verbindungselemente. Eine solche Erdung wird bereits mittels mindestens einem Kontaktier- und Befestigungselement über mindestens ein drittes Verbindungselement ermöglicht, welches mit einem Metallchassisteil elektrisch leitend und mechanisch verbunden ist. Ein handelsüblicher Kommunikations-Baustein 18 ist montierbar (einsteckbar oder einlötbar) ausgebildet und auf der nicht sichtbaren Seite der Träger-Leiterplatte 17 befestigt und mit den aufgebrachten Leiterbahnen kontaktiert, welche den Baustein an das erste Verbindungselement (Steckbuchsenleiste) 11 adaptieren und kontaktieren sowie ggf. an die Netzanschlussbuchse 16 der Kommunikationseinheit 10 anschließen. Für letztere hat die fachförmige Kavität auf der Rückseite 5 der unteren Gehäuseschale eine Öffnung 26. Das erste Verbindungselement 11 der steckbaren Kommunikationseinheit 10 ist mit einem zweiten Verbindungselement 12 einer im Sicherheitsbereich der Frankiermaschine angeordneten Hauptsteuerungsplatine (nicht sichtbar) verbindbar ausgestaltet. Der auf der Träger-Leiterplatte 17 montierbare Kommunikationsbaustein ist aus einer Anzahl an Kommunikationsbausteinen auswählbar. Ein solcher Kommunikations-Baustein ist in verschiedenen Ausführungen und unterschiedlichen Geschwindigkeiten erhältlich. Je nach den örtlichen Gegebenheiten kann ein passender Baustein als Kommunikations-Baustein verwendet werden. Grundsätzlich kann ein analoges oder digitales Modem, eine ISDN-Einheit, Wireless LAN-Einheit, UMTS-Einheit, Blue Tooth-Einheit oder eine andere steckbare Kommunikationseinheit hergestellt und eingesetzt werden. Wenn in die Kavität der unteren Gehäuseschale beispielsweise ein Modem eingesteckt wird, verbindet sich dieses beim Stecken direkt mit dem Mainboard. Claims (5)

  1. A franking machine with a communication unit arranged in the franking machine, the franking machine comprising a non-destructively inaccessible security area in a security housing (2-9), wherein said communication unit (10) has a first connection element (11) and can be connected by a plug-in movement to a main control board arranged in the security area of the franking machine (1), wherein the communication unit (10) has a carrier circuit board (17) which adapts a communication component selectable from a number of communication components to the first connection element (11) and effects its contacting by a second connection element (12) of the main control board arranged in the security area of the franking machine (1), characterized in that a non-security area of the franking machine with a compartment-shaped cavity (20) is accessible under a cover (25) that can be non-destructively removed from the security housing, wherein form and size of the compartment-shaped cavity (20) are adapted to the pluggable communication unit (10) and wherein the compartment-shaped cavity (20) is arranged in a housing shell of the security housing (2-9), and that the cavity (20) contains at least the second connection element (12) and at least one third connection element (31, 32, 33), wherein the second (12) and the at least one third connection element (31, 32, 33) project into the cavity (20), are connected with a metal chassis part of the franking machine (1) in an electrically conducting and mechanical manner, and are connectible to the communication unit (10), wherein an earthing of the carrier circuit board (17) of the communication unit (10) is allowed by means of at least one contacting and fixing element (131, 132, 133) via the at least one third connection element (31, 32, 33), wherein respective drill holes (171, 172, 173) for the at least one contacting and fixing element (131, 132, 133) are worked into the carrier circuit board (17) of the communication unit (10) for centring, fixing and earthing, said drill holes being metallized or having a close metal conductor layer in the edge region.
  2. A franking machine according to Claim 1, characterized in that the housing shell is a lower housing shell of the security housing of the franking machine.
  3. A franking machine according to Claim 1, characterized i n that there is provided at least one drill hole (171, 172, 173) of the carrier circuit board (17) in order to allow earthing via at least one screw and one bolt that is connected with a metal chassis part in an electrically conducting and mechanical manner, said bolt having an internal thread.
  4. A franking machine according to Claim 1, characterized in that there is provided at least one drill hole (171, 172, 173) of the carrier circuit board (17) in order to allow earthing via at least one nut and one bolt that is connected with a metal chassis part in an electrically conducting and mechanical manner, said bolt having an external thread.
  5. A franking machine according to Claim 1, characterized in that the cover (25) and the housing shell into which the cavity (20) is formed are made of plastic.
