Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a foldable and foldable tray at will, having one or more foldable walls and can be stacked easily.
  • packaging used to package different types of products are made from natural materials, such as cardboard or wood. Due to the recycling standards imposed on manufacturers and traders, particularly retail stores, all packaging must be stored separately and then removed by a specialized company responsible for their recovery and reprocessing. The storage volumes of this waste become very important and the staff must spend some of their time compacting these boxes. Finally, the costs related to recycling are passed on to manufacturers and traders.
  • Bins parallelepiped shape of plastic materials replace them. These bins make the shuttle between the manufacturer who puts his products for sale and the merchant. These bins have the advantages of being much more solid during handling and storage, to protect the products effectively, to be stacked without risk of crushing, to be used many times, to have standard dimensions adapted loading a truck and also being recyclable at the end of life.
  • folding bins which thus have the capacity to occupy a volume five times lower when they are in the folded position, compared to their deployed state.
  • These bins have the advantage of being stackable when they are full, when they are empty and deployed and when they are folded.
  • These bins have the real advantages of occupying a much smaller volume when the trader sends them empty to the industrialist for a new reloading. Transport costs are reduced and handling of folded bins is easier and faster.
  • documents FR-2 706 424 and EP-1 386 847 disclose a folding parallelepipedal container of the type comprising a bottom, an upper frame, and four folding side walls extending vertically between the upper frame and the bottom, at least one of the folding side walls being pivotable relative to the upper frame.
  • US-3,796,342 discloses a collapsible container comprising a bottom, an upper frame and four folding side walls.
  • the side walls pivot relative to the upper frame.
  • Locking means are arranged at the bottom and block the lower edge of one of the side walls. The locking of this side wall is done, firstly by wedging a lug forming part of the wall between the lower edge of the bottom and a projection and secondly by insertion into an orifice of a free end of the paw.
  • one or more foldable side walls are open.
  • the wall or walls can be folded partially or completely by slight pivoting or by complete rotational movement. These wall movements are possible when the tray is incompletely filled, when the products are not properly placed and leave voids or when the product packaging is not sufficiently rigid.
  • Such opening occurs inadvertently, due to shocks may occur during handling tray or due to vibrations generated during transport. A fraudulent opening is also noted, all or only part of the contents of the tray being stolen.
  • a major problem to be solved by the invention is to develop a tray of a polymeric material, which is both collapsible by folding one or more of its walls and which can easily be stacked.
  • a second problem is the realization of a tray having means for preventing its partial or total opening.
  • the invention relates to a collapsible parallelepiped bin, of the type comprising a bottom, an upper frame, and four folding side walls extending vertically between the upper frame and the bottom, at least one of the walls side foldable being pivotable relative to the upper frame and locking means disposed at the bottom and blocking the free bottom edge of the foldable side wall.
  • the tray is characterized in that the locking means comprise at least one movable tab, having on its upper face a notch extending from the bottom towards the upper frame, the notch in abutment against the lower free edge of the folding side wall, the lower face of the movable tongue being intended to be placed against a support, so as to lock said movable tongue and to block any pivoting movement of the folding side wall, when the tray is loaded and rests on the support, and so as to allow any pivoting movement of said folding side wall when the tray is empty.
  • the locking means comprise at least one movable tab, having on its upper face a notch extending from the bottom towards the upper frame, the notch in abutment against the lower free edge of the folding side wall, the lower face of the movable tongue being intended to be placed against a support, so as to lock said movable tongue and to block any pivoting movement of the folding side wall, when the tray is loaded and rests on the support, and so as to allow any pivoting movement of said folding side wall when the tray is empty
  • the free bottom edge of the folding side wall can be wedged between the notch of the movable tongue and an outer edge coming from the bottom of the tray.
  • the movable tongue may preferentially be part of the bottom.
  • the bottom may further comprise a bottom plate of dimensions substantially smaller than those of the bottom, defining a peripheral shoulder and forming a base.
  • the movable tongue can simultaneously be part of the bottom and the plate.
  • the tray When the tray rests on the support, in a first case, it may be constituted by the ground. In this situation, the underside of the tongue at the plate is placed against the ground. In a second case which is the stacked bins on top of each other, the support can be constituted by a second tray, the first tray being stacked on the second tray. In this situation, the lower face of the tongue at the bottom is placed against the upper face of the upper frame.
  • the tray can favorably include two opposite folding side walls, each made of an upper panel being secured and pivotable relative to the upper frame and a lower panel being secured and pivotable relative to the bottom, both panels being secured and pivotable relative to each other, and two opposite folding side walls, each being secured and pivotable relative to the upper frame and having a free bottom edge.
  • the tray may further comprise mechanical means for detecting an opening and pivoting of at least one of the side walls foldable relative to the upper frame.
  • a tray (1) is made of plastic material (for example polypropylene or polyethylene and is in the form of a parallelepiped, for example of dimensions substantially equal to 600 x 400 x 400 mm, and like a box when fully unfolded, the tray (1) thus having a bottom (2), belt or upper frame (3) defining an opening (4) and four extending sidewalls substantially vertically between the bottom (2) and the upper frame (3).
  • plastic material for example polypropylene or polyethylene and is in the form of a parallelepiped, for example of dimensions substantially equal to 600 x 400 x 400 mm, and like a box when fully unfolded, the tray (1) thus having a bottom (2), belt or upper frame (3) defining an opening (4) and four extending sidewalls substantially vertically between the bottom (2) and the upper frame (3).
  • two small sides or opposing transverse lateral vertical walls each comprise a transverse panel (6 and 7) which is articulated by hinge on the short side of the upper frame (3).
  • two large opposite longitudinal vertical side walls each comprise an upper longitudinal panel (8) and a lower longitudinal panel (9) of substantially equivalent dimensions.
  • the top panel (8) is hinged on the long side of the upper frame (3).
  • the lower panel (9) is hinged on the long side of the bottom (2).
  • the two upper and lower panels (8 and 9) are hinged together by means of pivoting longitudinal hinge type along a horizontal line (H).
  • the transverse walls (6 and 7) pivotally move from a vertical use position (shown in FIG. 1) to a horizontal position folding (shown in Figure 2) to the inside of the tray (1).
  • the upper and lower longitudinal panels (8 and 9) pivotally pass from a vertical position of use (shown in FIG. ) to a horizontal folding position (shown in Figure 3) to the inside of the tray (1).
  • the upper longitudinal panels (8) fold over the lower longitudinal panels (9).
  • the thrust (P ') on the upper and lower longitudinal panels (8 and 9) is not necessary, as soon as the transverse walls (6 and 7) are folded towards the inside of the tray (1) , they no longer play the role of spacer and the weight of the upper frame (3) folds the upper and lower longitudinal panels (8 and 9) on the bottom (2).
  • the opening (4) is closed by two half-covers (11 and 12) (only shown in Figure 1).
  • the bottom (2) further comprises an additional base plate (13).
  • This plate (13) has dimensions smaller than the dimensions of the bottom (2).
  • a peripheral shoulder (14) is created by this plate (13) offset from the bottom (2).
  • the plate (13) serves as a base.
  • the tray (1) in order to prevent any inadvertent or fraudulent opening of the transverse lateral vertical walls (6 and 7), the tray (1) comprises locking means (16). These means (16) are provided for locking the transverse walls (6 and 7) in vertical position, when the tray (1) is filled with an entire or partial load. By the complete stabilization of the transverse walls (6 and 7), these means (16) also prevent folding of the tray (1) by returning the upper frame (3) on the bottom (2).
  • the locking means (16) comprise an elongated flat tab or tongue (17) forming part of the bottom (2).
  • the transverse walls (6 and 7) are to be locked, four tabs (17) are provided, two being provided for the first transverse wall (6) and two others for the second transverse wall (7).
  • the tabs (17) are arranged towards the lower longitudinal panels (9).
  • the tongues (17) are longitudinally oriented towards the transverse walls (6 and 7).
  • the tongue (17) further comprises a notch (18) projecting upwards, that is to say towards the inside of the tray (1) and / or towards the upper frame (3), to from its upper face (19) and at its free end (21). Being molded with the bottom (2), the tongue (17) also has an attachment zone (22) serving as a pivot point.
  • the tongue (17) is thus movable and can move from a locking position to an unlocking position and vice versa.
  • the bottom (2) has a peripheral flange (23) extending upwards towards the upper frame (3).
  • the transverse wall (6) has a free lower end (24). When the transverse wall (6) is locked, its free lower end (24) is wedged between the notch (18) of the tongue (17) and the peripheral rim (23) of the bottom (2). By this jamming, any pivoting movement of the transverse wall (6) is thus prevented.
  • the tongue (17) Since the tongue (17) is elongated, it is extended on the plate (13) from the bottom (2). To avoid any discontinuity with the plate (13) of the bottom (2) at the shoulder (14), the tongue (17) has a lower projection (26) facing downwards and located in the same plane as the plate (13).
  • a thrust (P) exerted on the transverse wall (6) rotates the same transverse wall (6) relative to the upper frame (3) on its hinge.
  • the lower free end (24) of the transverse wall (6) has a conformation complementary to that of the notch (18) with which it cooperates.
  • the inner edge (32) of the free lower end (24) of the transverse wall (6) is supported on the outer slope (33) of the notch (18).
  • the tongue (17) then pivots gradually downward (arrows R in Figures 8 and 9).
  • the weight of the tray (1) alone is not sufficient to hold the tongue (17) in place.
  • the lower free end (24) unhooks, passes on the notch (18) and enters the tray (1).
  • the tongue (17) returns to the original position (arrow B in Figure 8).
  • the swinging transverse wall (6) easily passes on the notch (18) of the tongue (17) and found inside the bin (1).
  • the locking means (16) are no longer maintained in the securing position.
  • the swinging transverse wall (6) easily passes on the notch (18), the outer edge (32) of the free lower end (24) of the transverse wall (6) ) is based on the inner slope (33) of the notch (18).
  • the tongue (17) then pivots gradually downward (arrows R in Figures 8 and 9). After the notch (18), the tongue (17) returns to the original position by spring effect (arrow B in Figure 8).
  • the lower free end (24) is found in the clearance provided between the notch (18) and the peripheral rim (23) of the bottom (2).
  • the transverse wall (6) is thus locked in rotation by the locking means (16).
