Definitions

  • the invention relates to an arrangement for use in the transfer of fragile objects, such as bottles of glass, e.g. from a conveyor belt to a container.
  • an object of the invention is to provide an arrangement of the type defined in the introductory portion of claim 1 , where fragile bottles may be transferred to relatively large containers without any risk of being damaged.
  • the object of the invention is achieved by an arrangement of the type defined in the introductory portion of claim 1 , which is characterized in that the arrangement is formed by an upper chute, an intermediate chute and an ejector which are movable relative to the container.
  • the bottles may hereby slide down the chutes and the ejector without being damaged.
  • the ejector forms part of the intermediate chute, thereby providing a mechanically simpler structure of the arrangement.
  • the intermediate chute is secured at its lower end to at least a longitudinal shaft whose remote end is connected with a transverse shaft having a slip clutch, and a one-way clutch is connected with the transverse shaft to which is a forward movement is imparted by a motor via a crank connection, it is advantageously ensured that the chutes with the ejector may be given an upward, stepwise movement which may be synchronized with the speed which the bottles have in the transfer to the container.
  • the chutes and the ejector may be positioned at a given height, which is an advantage when an empty container is to be positioned below the chutes and the ejector, which, subsequently, is to be lowered into the container.
  • the upper chute is mounted at its upper end on a frame at two pivots, and, as stated in claim 5, the upper chute rests at its lower end on the upper end of the intermedi- ate chute in such a manner that the intermediate and upper chutes may be displaced mutually relative to each other. This ensures inter alia that the chutes may be lowered into a relatively small and a relatively high container, such as a Euro pallet, which is about 0.8 m wide.
  • the upper chute is formed with surfaces which narrow in a direction from the end where the objects arrive.
  • the narrowed surfaces will hereby bring about a certain reduction in the speed of the bottles down the arrangement.
  • the bottom of the intermediate chute is angled relative to the bottom at its lower section in the area of the ejector.
  • the ejector is terminated by a stop plate which is coated with a friction-reducing and resilient mate- rial, which additionally ensures that the bottles are slowed down gently and are not crushed before they are transferred to the container.
  • fig. 1 shows the structure of the arrangement according to the invention, seen obliquely from the side in perspective
  • fig. 2 shows the arrangement of fig. 2, seen obliquely from another side in perspective
  • fig. 3 shows the arrangement, seen from the side in an operational situation, while
  • fig.4 shows the arrangement of fig. 3 in another operational situation.
  • the numeral 1 generally designates an arrangement for use in the transfer of bottles from a conveyor belt to a container 23, cf. figs. 3 and 4.
  • a motor 6 is mounted on a frame 5 by means of a bracket 28, said motor having a crank connection 7 (or an eccentric) which is connected via a connecting rod 8 with one end of an arm 9, while the other end of the arm is connected with a one-way clutch 11 on a shaft 10.
  • a slip clutch 22 and a support bearing 12 are mounted on the shaft 10.
  • the slip clutch is connected with one end of a shaft 21 which is transverse relative to the shaft 10, and whose opposite end grips the ejector 4 on the intermediate chute 3.
  • the support bearing 9 is likewise connected with one end of a second shaft 20 which is transverse relative to the shaft 10, and which also grips the ejector 4 on the intermediate chute 3.
  • the upper chute 2 is pivotally suspended at points 17, 18 from two flat rods 15, 16, which are mutually connected near the points 17, 18 with a transverse rod 19.
  • the upper chute 2 extends into the intermediate chute 3 so that the two chutes may be displaced relative to each other, thereby allowing the angles between their longitudinal shafts to be varied.
  • the intermediate chute 3 and parts of the upper chute 2 have been lowered down into the container 23, which may be a container for receiving bottles of glass.
  • a conveyor belt 26 of a known type is arranged near the pivot points 17, 18 of the upper chute, said conveyor belt being adapted to advance bottles and guide them down on the upper chute 2.
  • the shaft 10 will then move in steps owing to the one-way clutch, when the arm is moved clockwise, while it will stand still when the arm 9 is moved counterclockwise.
  • this movement of the shaft will cause the intermediate chute 3 with the ejector 4 and the upper chute to move upwards in steps, which may e.g. be 15 cm. Other step heights than 15 cm are possible, which is only a matter of dimensioning the mechanical parts that provide the movement.
  • the bottle When a bottle is transferred from the conveyor belt 26 to the upper chute 2, the bottle will slide down the upper chute 2 toward the intermediate chute 3 and hit the ejector 4 at its stop plate 27 and be thrown into the container 23 near its bottom, or, if bottles are already present in the container, near the bottles which are disposed uppermost.
  • the upper chute 2 has been given the shape of a funnel so that the speed of the bottles is restricted during the transport on the upper chute.
  • the stop plate 27 is provided with a friction-reducing material on the inner side, and the ejector bottom itself is angled relative to the bot- torn of the upper and intermediate chutes, thereby facilitating the actual transfer of the bottles from the ejector.
  • the intermediate chute with the ejector 4 will move upwards in the container, and the angle between the longitudinal shafts of the intermediate and upper chutes will change toward a less obtuse angle.
  • the pattern of movement of the intermediate chute and the upper chute will be such that the intermediate chute in each step is raised a distance which is slightly greater than 15 cm, and when the step has been completed, the intermediate chute will fall a small distance back so that it is raised 15 cm.
  • a new container is positioned below the chutes, and these are returned manually to the bottom of the container, following which bottles may be transferred again, as explained above.
