Description

The present invention relates to a system for storing and release of a life raft for a ship and a vessel containing the system.

Modern ships all have life-saving systems in the form of lifeboats and in the form of rafts inflatable.

Depending on the types of vessels and the applicable regulations, the dropping out of lifeboats or inflatable rafts will be made in free fall or via davits.

Lifeboats are relatively large boats intended for major ships such as steamers, ferries ... They are usually positioned on cradles, and davits installed nearby are used to launch them.

Generally, life rafts, usually of the type inflatable, are attached to a carling or inclined cradle serving as a ramp. The launch of the rafts is then done by gravity following a manual triggering or hydrostatic release.

A titre d'exemple, les réglementations prévoient qu'ils doivent fonctionner même si le navire gíte de 20°.Because of their use in the event of danger, these delivery systems must be easy to use and extremely reliable, whatever the environment. For example, regulations provide that they must operate even if the vessel is 20 °.

To meet these constraints, different systems have been developed. Thus, US Patent 4,709,650 to Ingle describes a raft of rescue in the form of a habitable sphere that rests on a fixed cradle inclined. The system includes initial raft restraint means and a drop ramp that pivots from a vertical storage position to a sloping position allowing the raft to be dropped by gravity.

Another system operating by gravity is that described in US Pat. No. 3,593,355 to R. E. Husband in which a fall ramp unfolds from a vertical position along with a rotation of a cradle containing the raft.

These systems have the disadvantage of being relatively complex mechanically and therefore present a risk of malfunction and harm integrate into the structures of the ship causing loss of space as well as aesthetic problems depending on the types of ship.

The object of the invention is therefore to obtain a system mechanically simple and reliable integrating into the ship's structures in an aesthetic way.

For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a storage and release of at least one life raft from a vessel having a caisson having a lateral opening equipped with at least one rocking wall, around a first substantially horizontal hinge and positioned on its lower edge, relative to the box between a closed position of the caisson and a position of opening the caisson and raft drop and, in the caisson, a cradle able to receive at least one life raft, characterized in that the cradle is mounted tilting, around a second hinge substantially horizontal, relative to the housing between a position raft storage and drop position, cradle and wall delimiting an inclined guide ramp of the raft under the sole action of the gravity when in the release position.

A ship, Figure 1, has in its superstructures systems for storing and releasing life rafts according to the invention.

With reference to FIG. 2, the invention comprises a box 1 which makes generally part of the ship's structure or in solidarity with it.

The casing 1 comprises a frame 2 fixed relative to the rest of the ship structure. The frame has a vertical wall 2A oriented towards inside the ship and a 2B bottom. The wall 2A is preferably equipped with a access system, not shown, for crew members.

A lateral release opening 2C of the raft is delimited by the caisson 1. This opening 2C is facing the outside of the ship. A second wall 3 facing the outside of the ship is intended to close the opening 2C. This wall 3 is movable and tilts with respect to the casing 1 horizontally around a hinge 4, positioned on the lower edge of it. This hinge 4 allows a rotation of the wall 3 of at most 180 degrees to the outside of the ship, between a closed up position illustrated in FIG. 2 and a lowered drop position, illustrated in FIG. 3.

The movable wall 3 is advantageously integrated into the bulwarks of the ship, as shown in Figure 1.

A conventional locking device 5 keeps the wall 3 in place. square.

In this box 1, is installed a cradle 6 support and maintenance of a life raft 7. This raft 7 is in the form classic cylinder that opens on contact with water in two halves for release an inflatable canoe.

The cradle 6 is equipped with wedges 7A adapted to maintain the raft 7 on the cradle.

The cradle 6 is mounted tilting relative to the casing 1 around a hinge 8 with horizontal axis. This hinge is fixed on the casing 1 and is close to the hinge 4 of the pivot wall 3. The hinge 8 allows rotation of the cradle between a lowered storage position illustrated in Figure 2 and a raised float release position shown on Figure 3. The hinge is suitable for allowing angular deflection greater than 20 degrees which is the norm of the ship's cottage to be taken into account for the operation of the rescue systems. In practice, this rotation is preferably greater than 45 degrees.

The cradle 6 rests in its storage position parallel to the bottom 2B of the box, maintained on the one hand by the hinge 8 and on the other hand by a pneumatic cylinder system 9 installed between the cradle and the bottom of the caisson.

This jack system 9 is itself connected to a system 11 of generation of gas, such as a nitrogen accumulator, via a trigger lock connected to a well known hydrostatic system 12 of the skilled person.

The operation of the system according to the invention will now be described with reference to FIG. 2 on which the system is in a position of storage and in Figure 3 on which the system is in the release position.

When the life raft does not need to be used, the The system is in the position shown in Figure 2. The movable wall 3 close the box. It is held in place by the locking device 5. The cradle 6 is in a substantially horizontal position, the raft 7 being maintained on it by its own weight via wedges 7A, possibly supplemented by a removable strap not shown.

Quand le radeau doit être mis à la mer, le système de verrouillage 5 libère la paroi mobile 3.When the raft is to be put to sea, the locking system 5 releases the movable wall 3.

Le système de vérin 9 pousse alors le berceau 6 afin qu'il pivote autour de sa charnière 8.The jack system 9 then pushes the cradle 6 so that it pivots around its hinge 8.

The tilting of the mobile wall 3 after unlocking is caused by the raft 7 which, during the rotation of the cradle 6, pushes the wall 3 until it tilts.

The cradle 6 extended by the wall 3 thus create a fall ramp for the raft as shown in Figure 3.

The possible webbing that kept the raft 7 having been removed, it leaves, by simple gravity, its cradle 6 and slides and / or rolls on the drop ramp towards the sea.

The system according to the invention being mechanically very simple thus guarantees a high reliability of its operation.

According to a variant shown in FIGS. 4, 5 and 6, the hinge 4 and the hinge 8 are positioned on the same horizontal axis. But he is also possible to position the hinge 8 integrally with the cradle 6.

A jack system 15 is installed between the cradle 6 and the wall mobile 3. Moreover, the movable wall 3 has a stop 16 on its edge inferior.

According to this type of embodiment, the rocking wall 3 performs a rotation about 135 degrees to the outside of the ship so that the stop 16 comes into contact with the cradle 6. The wall 3 is thus substantially aligned with the cradle 6.

The jack system 15 has a dual function in this movement. At first, it participates in the rotation of the wall 3 until this, having exceeded the vertical, is driven by its own weight. In a second time, at the end of the movement, it damps the rotation of the wall 3 and participates in making the cradle 6 and the wall 3 integral.

Le système de vérin 9 pousse alors le berceau 6, ce qui entraíne la paroi 3, vers la position de largage, figure 6.The system then being in the position shown in FIG. cradle 6 and the movable wall 3 form an integral assembly. The system of cylinder 9 then pushes the cradle 6, which causes the wall 3, to the position of drop, figure 6.

Par rapport au mode de réalisation initial, cela a l'avantage de ne pas créer de contrainte sur le radeau de sauvetage 7.In another variant, the cradle 6 is equipped with a device mechanical 13 stop type or cylinder, able to support and push the wall 3 to cause its tilting when rotating the cradle. By compared to the initial embodiment, this has the advantage of not creating stress on life raft 7.

This gas is then released when necessary, by the percussion of the lock which, at rest, is held in place by the hydrostatic system 12.

It is also possible to replace the gas accumulator with a pyrotechnic charge 11 whose combustion generates a gas to fuel the cylinder.

As a variant, the mobile wall 3 switches, after unlocking, under the action of its own weight around the axis of the hinge 4 to reach its lowered position of drop when the configuration of the ship and in particular that of the bulwark and when the center of gravity of the whole allow it.

The bulwarks being often in the ships of the zones not or little used, the installation of systems according to the invention in the bulwarks allows to optimize the use of the spaces of the ship. And as, the movable wall 3 is designed to integrate with the bulwarks, this allows the rafts to be hidden and protect the system from the weather, increasing its reliability.
