Each of prefabricated panels (22 1-22 n) having a lower side, lateral vertical sides and an aperture (36) is installed in trench such that adjacent panels are integrated. The lower sides are tightened with the trench base, and free vertical sides of end panels are tightened with respective lateral end walls (14, 16) of the trench. An independent claim is also included for an underground barrier formed in a trench to control circulation of water in ground.

Description

The present invention relates to a method for producing groundwater circulation control barriers and a barrier as obtained by the implementation of the method.

More specifically, the invention relates to the production of an underground barrier which makes it possible to control the circulation of groundwater in a water flow zone and, more particularly, in the case where this barrier has to be realized. in terrain with karstic rocks with large cracks or hoses with large water circulation.

  • les injections ;
  • le jet grouting (injection sous pression) ;
  • les colonnes de sol mixé ; ou
  • les parois.
The construction of underground dams to cut off the flow of water in permeable terrain uses different techniques known in the field of special foundations. These include:
  • injections;
  • jet grouting (injection under pressure);
  • the columns of mixed soil; or
  • the walls.

As regards the walls, they may consist of molded walls made of concrete or plastic concrete which are obtained by first making a trench in the ground and filling the trench with concrete, excavated walls or vibrofoncés under self-hardening grout or still the prefabricated walls installed in grout.

Whatever the wall technique considered, their realization requires the digging of a trench and the filling of this trench with grout or concrete.

In some lands, this technique can not be used. Indeed, it is necessary that the walls of the trench ensure the containment of concrete or grout that is put in place. This confinement can not be obtained if the soil consists for example of karstic rocks with large cracks or hoses with large water circulation. It is understood that, because of the significant crevices of the rock, the concrete or grout will immediately flow out of the trench making it impossible to achieve the wall.

US 6 554 544 .A method of making an underground barrier and such a barrier according to the preamble of claim 7 is disclosed in US 6,554,544 .

There is therefore a real need to have a method of making underground barriers that can adapt to the type of terrain described above.

A first object of the present invention is to provide a method for the realization of underground barriers in terrain with significant crevices.

  • on réalise une tranchée dans le sol à l'emplacement où la barrière doit être réalisée de telle manière que le fond de la tranchée soit dans une couche de terrain suffisamment imperméable ;
  • on fournit des panneaux préfabriqués, présentant un bord inférieur et deux bords latéraux verticaux équipés de moyens d'étanchéité mutuelle, certains desdits panneaux comportant une ouverture munie de moyens d'obturation commandables ;
  • on met en place dans la tranchée lesdits panneaux de telle manière qu'on réalise une solidarisation et une étanchéité entre deux panneaux adjacents ;
To achieve this object, according to the invention, the method comprises the following steps:
  • a trench is made in the soil where the barrier is to be constructed in such a way that the bottom of the trench is in a sufficiently impermeable layer of soil;
  • providing prefabricated panels having a bottom edge and two vertical side edges provided with mutual sealing means, some of said panels having an opening provided with controllable sealing means;
  • said panels are placed in the trench in such a way that a joining and sealing is achieved between two adjacent panels;
  • a first limited seal is made between the lower edge of each panel and the bottom of the trench; and
  • a second limited seal is made between the vertical free edge of each end panel with the end wall of the trench.

By the term "limited sealing", it is meant that the seal is achieved, for example, with concrete or grout, only in the areas of the trench corresponding to its bottom and vertical end walls, and that the sealing means do not fill the entire trench.

It is understood that, thanks to the invention, the problem related to the absence of confinement made by the trench is solved. Indeed, the only seals to achieve, usually by sealing with a concrete or grout, concern the lower end of the panels and the vertical edges of the end panels. Now, both the bottom of the trench and the vertical end walls of this trench are necessarily in areas of the ground devoid of significant crevices. On the other hand, there is no cement-based grout to be made in the areas likely to have significant crevices in the longitudinal vertical walls of the trench initially made. In addition, the controllable openings in some panels control the flow of groundwater through the barrier.

Another advantage of the invention is that, some of the panels having a controllable opening, it is possible to maintain this opening in the open position during the execution of the work, which avoids the accumulation of water in the trench. course of realization of the barrier, this water can flow through the opening made in at least some of the panels.

According to a first embodiment of the invention, at least a portion of the prefabricated panels consist of sheet piles.

According to a second embodiment, at least a portion of the prefabricated panels consist of prefabricated concrete panels.

According to a third mode of implementation, at least a portion of the prefabricated panels consists of plastic sheets, for example high density polyethylene (HDPE) with locks and their seal. These sheets can be reinforced by metal profiles concreted in plastic tubes integrated with said sheets.

Another object of the invention is a sealing barrier of the type obtained by the implementation of the method of the type defined above.

Selon l'invention, la barrière souterraine comprend :

  • une pluralité de panneaux préfabriqués disposés côte à côte dans la tranchée et reliés entre eux par des moyens de liaison mécanique et d'étanchéité, certains desdits panneaux comprenant une ouverture munie de moyens d'obturation commandables ;
According to the invention, the underground barrier comprises:
  • a plurality of prefabricated panels arranged side by side in the trench and interconnected by mechanical connection and sealing means, some of said panels comprising an opening provided with controllable sealing means;
  • first limited sealing means between the lower edge of the panels and the bottom of the trench; and
  • second limited sealing means between the free vertical edge of the end panels and the end walls of the trench.

  • la figure 1 est une vue simplifiée de dessus de la réalisation d'une barrière conforme à l'invention ;
  • la figure 2 est une vue simplifiée d'un panneau préfabriqué mis en place dans la tranchée ;

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear better on reading the following description of several embodiments of the invention given as non-limiting examples. The description refers to the appended figures in which:
  • the figure 1 is a simplified view from above of the embodiment of a barrier according to the invention;
  • the figure 2 is a simplified view of a prefabricated panel installed in the trench;
  • the Figures 3A to 3D show in horizontal section the establishment of a prefabricated panel having a closable opening to allow the flow of water; and
  • the figure 4 is an elevational view of a prefabricated panel with a window.

Referring first to Figures 1 and 2 a first embodiment of the invention will be described.

On the figure 1 there is shown a trench 10 in which a control barrier against the flow of water must be made. This trench comprises a bottom 12, end side walls 14 and 16 and longitudinal vertical walls 18 and 20. For the dam to be effective, it must of course that the trench is made in such a way that the bottom is in a layer of the soil free of crevices and the vertical end walls 14 and 16. In contrast, the longitudinal vertical walls 18 and 20 comprise crevices allowing an abundant flow of groundwater.

The trench 10 can be made entirely before the introduction of the panels or, preferably, it is made in sections of length a little longer than the length of the prefabricated panels.

On the figure 2 , there is shown a panel 22 made for example of reinforced concrete. The panel 22 has a lower edge 24, an upper edge 26 and two vertical lateral edges 28 and 30. The height H of the panel is equal to the height of the barrier that is to be made, and its width is equal to L. The lateral edges 26 and 28 of the panel are provided with mechanical connection and sealing elements constituted, for example, by sheet piles 32 and 34. At least some of the panels 22 are provided with an opening constituting a window 36 equipped with shutter means not shown.

For the production of the barrier, after having dug the trench 10, a first end panel 22 1 is put in place and a seal 40 in which the element 30 is engaged is made along the vertical wall 14 of the trench. of securing the panel 22 1 which may consist of several sheet piles. In addition, is made using concrete or grout a seal 42 of the lower edge 24 of the panel on the bottom of the trench to thereby seal between the panel and the bottom of the trench. The different panels 22 2 , etc., are successively put into place by engaging the mechanical and sealing connecting elements 30 and 32 constituted, for example, by sheet piles. The last panel 22 n is equipped with a fastening and sealing element 32 'which is embedded in a seal 44 made against the end wall 16 of the trench. Finally, the trench is filled by any suitable means.

This results in the presence of the various panels and their mechanical connection and sealing elements a continuous dam opposing the circulation of groundwater. As indicated, some panels have an opening 36 provided with controllable sealing means. When producing the underground barrier, the windows 36 are preferably left open so that the water entering the trench 10 can flow through the openings 36 and not flow into this trench due to the presence of the panels.

When the barrier has been completely completed, the windows 36 equipped with their shutter means remotely controllable, that is to say from the surface of the ground, can be opened or closed or placed in an intermediate position to allow the passage of a controlled flow of groundwater on either side of the barrier formed by the panels 22.

In the example described in connection with the Figures 1 and 2 , the prefabricated panels used to make the barrier are elements made of concrete or reinforced concrete. It goes without saying that we can use other materials still corresponding to the definition of prefabricated panels. One could also use at least in part as prefabricated sheet piles engaged with each other. Preferably in this case, some specialized panels for example made of concrete would include openings 36 to allow a controlled flow of groundwater.

The prefabricated panels could also consist of plastic sheets, for example high density polyethylene (HDPE) with locks and their seal. These sheets can be reinforced by metal profiles concreted in plastic tubes integrated with said sheets.

In this case also, some panels will be prefabricated panels or panels with a concrete metal structure and equipped with an opening provided with closure means.

Referring now to Figures 3A to 3D and 4 an example of setting up a prefabricated panel equipped with a window and mounted at one end of the trench will be described.

Les figures 3A à 3D montrent les différentes étapes de la mise en place du panneau d'extrémité 22'.The Figures 3A to 3D show the different stages of the establishment of the end panel 22 '.

On a également représenté le scellement 44 réalisé contre la paroi d'extrémité 16 de la tranchée dans lequel est fixé l'élément de solidarisation et d'étanchéité 34.On the figure 3A the trench 10 is shown in which the penultimate panel 22 is already fitted with its securing element 32. The seal 44 made against the end wall 16 of the trench in which is fixed is also shown. the fastening and sealing element 34.

On the figure 3B , we show the establishment of the end panel 22 '. Prior to this installation, the mounting elements 32 and 34 are mounted on the vertical extensions 46 and 48 which terminate in a T-shaped shape 50, 52.

The panel 22 'comprises a sheet metal structure which defines two vertical end boxes 54 and 56 provided with a vertical slot 58, 60. This metal structure also defines a window 62 and two vertical rails 64 and 66. The metal structure also comprises two tubular passages 68 and 70 which are connected to a vertical control line 72.

The panel 22 'is placed in the trench 10 so that the T-ends 50 and 52 of the fastening elements penetrate the vertical boxes 54 and 56 of the panel through the slots 58 and 60.

After this operation, the figure 3C shows that the caissons 54 and 56 are filled with concrete or grout, as well as the volumes limiting the slides 64 and 66. This secures the panel 22 'and makes the seal between this panel and the panel 22. and between this panel and the end wall 16 of the trench.

In the step shown on the 3D figure a sliding hatch 74 for closing the window 62 is placed in the slides 64 and 66.

Cette figure montre également la trappe mobile 74 équipée d'un système de commande de déplacement 76.The figure 4 shows the panel 22 'placed in the trench 10. It shows the seal 31 to seal between the bottom 12 of the trench and the lower edge 24' of the panel 22 '. This figure also shows the mobile hatch 74 equipped with a displacement control system 76.

On the figure 4 , we also see the tubular passages 68 and 70 which pass through the panel 22 'over its entire thickness. These passages 68 and 70 allow a flow of water through the panel. These tubular passages may be closed by a closure rod 78 mounted movably in the vertical tube 72. The closure may be provided by one or more inflatable shutters, valves, or any other suitable means, mechanically, hydraulically or otherwise .
