Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for satinizing a Web of paper or cardboard, in which one has Apply the stroke to the web, the web through at least three nips of a multi-roll calender leads the web in the nips pressurized and between guides the nips over guide rollers. Furthermore, the invention relates a calender with at least four rolls and at least three nips and guide rollers between the Nips, over the one-stroke train out Paper or cardboard is guided, and with funds for Pressurize the web in the nips.
- Sheets made of paper or cardboard are used in many cases printed.
- the web has a certain Have smoothness.
- the requirements for the Smoothness is different. They align themselves after the later use. So, for example Papers used for printing daily newspapers be less slippery than paper, which for printing glossy magazines or Magazines should be used.
- a standard procedure for smoothing a paper or paper Cardboard web is to close the web in a calender satin finishing. To do this, the web passes through the nips in the calender directed and there with increased pressure and many times also subjected to elevated temperature.
- the invention is based on the object, the surface properties of coated paper or board webs continue to improve.
- This object is achieved in a method of the aforementioned Kind of solved that one the web before it via a nip in the direction upstream Guide roll runs, on which not adjacent to the guide roll Side moisturizes.
- the coated web is moistened, without the risk that in the subsequent Nips form line deposits on the rollers. Nevertheless, the moisture is still effective, that the surface properties of the coated web be further improved. It is also believed that because of Stroke on the surface of the web moisture not in a significant degree to the Center of the path can penetrate, so that one despite the relatively large distance between the humidification and the pressurization still a moisture gradient in the train receives.
- the web is moistened with steam. If Apply steam to a web, not just one Moisture increase on the surface, but also a temperature increase. It is assumed that the following Cooling the stroke over a relatively long Time to go through the next nip with a The reason for this is that the coating color is not on deposits the rollers.
- the web is moistened on one side, in the following nip on a hard, heated Roller rests.
- the biggest smoothness increase in a nip is reached on the side of the railway, which is on the hard and heated roller rests. If you have extra here Moisture, the smoothness results improved.
- the web is moistened for at least 0.1 seconds before going through the nip. This is a relative one long time, so that the stroke on the surface the web is again sufficiently dried or solid so that he is not in the succeeding nips gets stuck on the roller.
- the web is satined online.
- the satinage can then in a train with the stroke order or even done on a train with the papermaking, i.e. following the paper machine.
- Look at the elevated temperature of the web at the exit the paper or board machine prevails to further improve the smoothness result.
- a moistening device is arranged in the running direction of the web in front of a nip upstream guide roller on the side not adjacent to the guide roller of the web.
- this design has the advantage that the moisture is applied to the web relatively early, so that a relatively long time elapses until the moistened web passes through the nip. In this relatively long period, the line has the ability to solidify sufficiently, so that it can no longer deposit on the roller. Nevertheless, the moisture still has a certain effect, which leads to a smoothness increase.
- an improvement of the surface properties is obtained, without having to accept the disadvantages known hitherto.
- the humidifying device is a steam humidifier educated.
- the humidifier carries So the moisture in the form of steam on the surface the train up.
- the steam does not only lead to one Moisture increase, but also to a temperature increase.
- the moistening device is arranged on the side of the web, which rests in the subsequent nip on a hard, heated roller.
- the hard and heated roller is mainly responsible for the increase in smoothness at the surface of the web. If you give up moisture here, the smoothness increase is increased, ie you get improved surface properties.
- several moistening devices are provided, none of which is between a guide roller and a subsequent nip.
- the web is always moistened only at a position which has a sufficient distance from the next nip, so that the coating can solidify sufficiently again even after the application of the moisture so as not to be detached from the web in the subsequent nip. Even within “pockets", which forms the web due to the guide rollers between the nips, no moistening facilities are present.
- a calender 1 has a roll stack with two end rolls 2, 3, as deflection deflection rollers are formed, of which only the support shoes 43, 44 are indicated. Between the end rollers 2, 3 are in the present case eight intermediate rolls 4-11.
- the end rollers 2, 3 and the intermediate rollers 5, 7, 8, 10 are formed as "soft” rollers, i. she have an elastic cover 12 on their surface on.
- the intermediate rolls 4, 6, 9, 11 are called “hard” Rolls formed whose surface is much harder is as the surface of the cover 12.
- the hard rollers 4, 6, 9, 11 are provided with a heating device 13, which symbolizes here through a series of peripheral holes is. Accordingly, the surface of the hard intermediate rolls 4, 6, 9, 11 to an elevated temperature to be brought. This temperature is in the range from about 60 to about 130 ° C.
- the rollers 2-11 form nips 14-22, through which a web 23 is guided.
- the web 23 is a Paper or board web, which is painted, so one Surface coating in the form of a coating color has.
- the web 23 comes, as only is shown schematically, from a coating device 24.
- the calender 1 is so on-line with the Coating 24 arranged.
- the coating device 24 in turn can be on-line with only a schematic shown paper or board machine 25 arranged so that the calender 1 also on-line to the paper machine 25 is arranged.
- the web Before entering the calender 1, the web is over an entrance guide roller 26 guided. After going through of the last nip 22 is the web 23 via an exit guide roll 27 led. Between the nips 14-22 is the Web 23 passed over a plurality of guide rollers 28-35, in each case between two nips 14, 15; 15, 16; ... a guide roller 28-35 is arranged. Each guide roller causes a change in direction of the web 23rd
- a moistening device 37 In the web running direction, symbolized by an arrow 36 is, in front of the nip 16 is a moistening device 37 arranged.
- This humidifying device 37 is designed as a vapor deposition device, for example as a steam box with one in the width direction the web 23 zones controllable steam dispenser.
- the moistening device 37 directs So steam on the surface of the web 23, in the on the humidifier 37 following Nip 16 at the hard roller 6 is applied.
- the humidifier 37 is, however, with a relatively long distance to this nip 16 arranged. It wets the web between the exit of the nip 15 and the nip 15 following guide roller 29 or - in other words - before the Nip 16 upstream Guide roll 29 on the side, the not abutting the guide roller 29. This is a relative long time available, in which of the humidifier 37 applied to the web 23 Moisture can affect the web.
- the humidity which usually triggers the stroke, so that he a subsequent roller 6 gets stuck, then has gone so far and the stroke is back become so solid that the stroke of the surface the web 23 no longer detached and on the roller 6th deposits.
- the nip 18 is a switch between two soft Rollers 7, 8 formed. He serves both sides allow the web 23, in a sufficient number Nips on a hard roller. While before the change tip 18, the bottom of the web 23 to hard Rolls 4, 6 is present, lies after passing through the Alternating chips 18 the top of the web on hard rollers 9, 11 on.
- Another humidifier 39 is at the exit nip 20 in front of the guide roll 34, which precedes the nip 21 is arranged. Both humidifiers 38, 39 are also as vapor deposition devices educated. The time between the order of Moisture and passing through the next nip 19, 21 is relatively large in both cases. It is exactly as in the humidifier 37, at least 0.1 seconds. This means for example at a Speed of the orbit 23 of 1,800 m / min, that the coated web 23 after the moisture application until for reaching the subsequent nip 16, 19, 21 at least 3 m has to cover.
- each humidifying device 40, 41 acts on one side of the track 23.
- the moistening device 41 which is on the bottom the web 23 acts relatively close to the Inlet guide roller 26 may be arranged.
- the time between the Applying the moisture to the web 23 and the Going through the first nip 14 is long enough to get one To prevent deposition of the stroke to the roller 4.
- the moistening device 40 which is on the top the web 23 acts, which later on the entrance guide roll 26 is applied, must be at a greater distance from the entrance guide roll 26 may be arranged. In this case, too is the time between the moisture application through the humidifier 40 and contacting the Guide roller 26 long enough to make a deposit of To prevent coating on the entrance guide roller 26.
- the calender 1 is shown only schematically in the figure.
- the roll stack of the rollers 2-11 has a Inclination of about 45 ° to the horizontal and to the vertical on.
- An attachment of the rollers to a stand 42 is shown as little as additional or additional Attachments, such as scrapers.
- the application of moisture can be an increase of shine and smoothness.
- one calendering conditions such as line load and temperature, without losing smoothness.
- moistening can also be done zone by zone in the transverse direction of the web 23 to control a Gloss or smoothness cross profile control to realize.

Abstract
