Description

The present invention relates to the display stand, in particular the display cases for shop windows.

It is known to make displays on their front face a logo, a mark, or any other distinctive sign. Such displays are generally arranged in shop windows and accompany various products such as watches, jewelry, clothing, to indicate the origin of these products.

The present invention is based initially on the idea of producing a backlit display including an opaque front plate having one or more light-transparent areas forming the distinctive sign to be presented to the public, and backlighting means of the front plate.

The backlighting of the front plate can be provided by a light bulb. This solution, however, has various disadvantages, both aesthetic and practical, related to the need to provide a connection of the bulb to the power grid. In addition, for security reasons, shop windows are generally not equipped with electrical outlets and only benefit from vertical lighting provided by spotlights or spotlights.

On the other hand, a display of the type discussed here being intended to be used several hours per day or permanently, the use of batteries is difficult to envisage because of their poor longevity.

The present invention thus provides a backlit display that is easy to use, low cost, and does not require connection to the power grid.

The document US 5160195 discloses a backlit display device comprising illumination means integrated into the device and arranged at the rear of a display surface to be backlit. One embodiment of the device comprises a reflective surface arranged to return the light emitted by the illumination means to the backlit display surface.

The present invention is based on the observation that shop windows are often strongly illuminated by light sources located above object presentation areas. As mentioned above, these are generally projectors or spotlights, arranged in ceilings or false ceilings.

Thus, an idea of the present invention is to integrate in a display of the aforementioned type a mirror system for "recovering" the vertical light and return it to the rear face of the front plate, the mirror forming a virtual light source arranged behind the front plate.

More particularly, the present invention provides a backlit display, especially for shop window, as defined by claim 1.

These and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will be set out in more detail in the following description of an exemplary embodiment of a backlit display according to the invention, given in a nonlimiting manner in relation to the figures. attached, among which:
  • the figure 1 is a front view of an exemplary embodiment of a display according to the invention,
  • the figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of the display of the figure 1 ,
  • the figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view of the display of the figure 1 ,
  • the figure 4 is identical to the figure 2 and illustrates the path of light rays in the display according to the invention,
  • the figure 5 is a vertical sectional view of an alternative embodiment of a display according to the invention, and
  • the figure 6 is a perspective view of another alternative embodiment of a display according to the invention.

The figure 1 is a front view of the display. The figure 2 is a sectional view of the display unit according to a vertical sectional plane AA 'shown in FIG. figure 1 . The figure 3 is a sectional view of the display unit in a horizontal sectional plane BB 'shown in FIG. figure 1 .

The display 10 comprises an opaque front plate 1 having at least one transparent zone 2 forming a logo, a mark, or any other distinctive sign. Here we find five transparent areas 2 forming the five letters of the word "TEXT", chosen as an example.

For reasons of readability of the figures, the black and white representation of the front plate 1 is the negative of the actual appearance of the display 10. Thus, the transparent areas 2 forming the letters of the word "TEXT" appear in black on the figures instead of appearing in the clear, while the rest of the front plate appears in clear instead of being dark in color. This dark color is preferably black to obtain a maximum contrast between the transparent areas 2 and the remainder of the front plate.

The front plate 1 is for example transparent acrylic glass. It has a front face 1-1, a back face 1-2 and edges 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6. The rear face 1-2 and the edges 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6 are covered with a material or a black paint, with the exception of the transparent zones 2. The zones Transparencies 2 can be obtained by screen printing or pad printing (negative printing) or by etching or removing the black material or paint after it has been deposited on the front face.

The faceplate 1 may, however, be of any other material, wood, metal, glass, cardboard, fabric, ... or a combination of these materials, and the transparent areas may be cut by milling, laser, jet of water or water. 'acid.

The front plate 1 is held substantially vertically by means of a base intended to be placed on a horizontal plane. This base is formed here by a support block 3, glass, acrylic glass, wood, metal, or other material. The support block 3 has a lower face 3-1, which forms the base itself, and a front face 3-2. The front face 3-2 is oriented at 90 ° relative to the base 3-1, and receives the rear face 1-2 of the front plate 1 (more particularly the lower part of the rear face 1-2). The rear face 1-2 of the front plate 1 is fixed to the front face 3-2 of the support block 3 by any known means, for example a double-sided adhesive tape.

The angle between the front face 3-2 and the base 3-1 can also be chosen less than 90 °, so that the faceplate 1 is substantially inclined rearwardly when the display stand is placed on a horizontal plane.

According to the invention, the display 10 comprises a mirror 4, here of rectangular shape, arranged in an inclined plane so as to project in a substantially horizontal direction a substantially vertical incident light. Thus, incident light rays arriving substantially vertically of the display, are returned to the rear face 1-2 of the front plate 1, in a direction substantially parallel to the normal N of the front plate.

On the figure 4 incident light rays L1 having an angle of ± α relative to a vertical axis V are seen. These incident rays are converted into reflected rays L2 which pass through the front plate 1 at an angle of ± α relative to the normal N. L angle α is defined here by the half height of the transparent areas 2, here the letters of the word "TEXT", and by the distance between the mirror 4 and the front plate.

Thus, the logo, the mark or other distinctive sign worn by the faceplate, here the word "TEXT", appears as strongly illuminated from the rear when the display stand 10 is placed on a stall receiving an intense vertical light delivered by sources of light like spotlights or spotlights.

In the embodiment shown, the mirror 4 is fixed on the support block 3. For this purpose, the upper part of the support block 3 is bevelled so as to form an inclined face 3-3 receiving the mirror 4. This inclination is 45 ° relative to the horizontal if the front plate is arranged vertically and if the light to be collected and returned to the front plate is distributed vertically. It goes without saying that various alternative embodiments may be provided according to the intended conditions of use.

Optionally, the display unit 10 also comprises a transparent block 5 forming an optical guide, made for example of acrylic glass. This transparent block 5 is carried by the support block 3 and has for this purpose a beveled lower face 5-1 which is supported on the reflecting face of the mirror 4, directly or via a seal (not shown) the mirror 4 is thus sandwiched between the support block 3 and the transparent block 5. The transparent block has an upper face 5-2, here horizontal, which forms a point of entry of the light, while the beveled face 5-1 forms the exit point of the light.

Optionally still, the display 10 may be equipped with a color filter. This filter is for example a colored transparent plate 6 which is placed on the upper face 5-2 of the transparent block, and is held there by a piece of adhesive tape. The incident light passing through the filter 6 before being reflected by the mirror, the letters of the word "TEXT" appear in color.

The transparent block 5 is preferably of a shape complementary to that of the support block 3, so that the assembly forms a block of monolithic appearance, here a block of parallelepiped shape.

This block of monolithic appearance can be coupled to the front plate 1 in an easily detachable manner, to obtain a modular display can receive various front plates. Thus, the front plate 1 is for example fixed on the front faces 3-2, 5-3 of the blocks 3, 5 by two double-sided adhesive strips 9-1, 9-2 (represented in dotted lines on the figure 1 ), allowing it to be peeled off and replaced by another faceplate bearing another distinctive sign.

As a practical example of implementation of the invention, a display unit having a front plate having a width of 100 mm, a height of 60 mm and a thickness of 5 mm was produced. The block of monolithic appearance formed by the blocks 3 and 5 is a parallelepiped with a width of 90 mm, a height of 50 mm and a depth (thickness) of 16 mm. The set is compact, robust, ready to be placed in a showcase, is made entirely of acrylic glass and weighs about 200 grams.

Although based on a known principle of light reflection, the display according to the invention forms a surprising object for those who do not know its internal structure. It is sufficient to put it in a well-lit place with a vertical or substantially vertical light (depending on the direction mirror) and the logo, mark or other distinctive sign worn by the display shines as if a powerful light source were arranged inside such a small object.

The display according to the invention is capable of various embodiments. In particular, the front plate 1 and the transparent block 5 can be formed by a single piece. On the other hand, the support block 3 and the transparent block 5 are optional elements that can be replaced by a housing in which the mirror is arranged. The mirror can be arranged on an adjustable tilt support, in order to adapt the display to various lighting conditions. The mirror may also be provided convex or concave, or have a complex surface, if particular light effects are sought. Several mirrors can also be combined.

The figure 5 represents a variant of the display unit according to the invention. This is distinguished from the display 10 in that the front plate 1 comprises an advance 21 forming a cornice on which an object 22 can be placed. The faceplate 1 here has a transparent area 2 of sufficient surface area for the object 22 to be illuminated from behind. The ledge 21 here has a horizontal plate on which is disposed a second mirror 23. This mirror 23 reflects some light rays transmitted by the inclined mirror 4, and provides illumination of the object 22 from below, which combines with the backlight .

The figure 6 represents yet another variant of the display according to the invention. The front plate 1 is here of a thickness substantially greater than that of the rear block formed by the combination of the support block 3 and the transparent block 5, which incorporates the mirror 4. The top of the front plate comprises a support 31 allowing fix an object 32 to present to the public, for example a watch. The aesthetic effect obtained is advantageous: the display forms a support for the object 32 while the mark, the logo or the distinctive sign relating to the object, appears on the front side, just below the object, in light characters.

In addition to the display of a distinctive sign or the presentation of an object, a display unit according to the invention can form a purely decorative object without commercial purpose, which can be arranged in a window, on a desk, and generally under any light source. As an example of decorative object, the front plate may comprise a transparent zone (round, square, rectangular, star-shaped ...) on which is arranged a stained glass composed of several transparent parts of different colors.
