Die Aufgabe der Erfindung ist durch ein Gaskochfeld bzw. durch ein Verfahren mit den Merkmalen des Anspruches 1 bzw. den Merkmalen des Anspruches 4 gelöst. Gemäß dem kennzeichnendem Teil des Anspruches 1 zeigt sinngemäß eine Anzeigeeinrichtung des Gaskochfeldes nach dem Schließen des Hauptventils nicht nur den Gasbrenner, dessen Flamme erloschen ist ist, sondern auch alle weiteren Gasbrenner, deren Einstellelemente sich in einer Offenstellung befinden. Durch die Anzeigeeinrichtung erhält ein Benutzer den Hinweis, welche Gasbrenner bis zum Erlöschen der Flamme in Betrieb waren. Deren Einstellelemente kann der Benutzer zunächst in eine Schließposition bringen, um zuverlässig einen unerwünschten Gasaustritt aus den Gasbrennern zu vermeiden.
