Dabei wird die Seitenscheibe in Abhängigkeit der Bewegung der Seitentür von der Schließstellung in die Öffnungsstellung automatisch durch den Fensterheber in eine vorgegebene Zwischenposition bewegt, die von einer vollständigen Schließ- oder Absenkposition der Seitenscheibe abweicht. Im Stand der Technik ist dies als sogenannte Kurzhubabsenkung beschrieben. Dabei wird ausgehend von der vollständigen Schließposition, in der die Scheibe vollständig angehoben ist, beim Öffnen der Seitentür die Seitenscheibe um einige Millimeter in die Zwischenposition abgesenkt, wodurch der obere Scheibenrand außer Eingriff mit einer diesem Scheibenrand zugeordneten Dichtung gebracht wird, so dass ein Öffnen der Tür erleichtert und überdies die Dichtung weniger beansprucht wird. Wird die Seitentür wieder aus der Öffnungsstellung in die Schließestellung bewegt, wird die Kurzhubabsenkung aufgehoben und die Seitenscheibe wieder in die Dichtung eingefahren, so dass die Seitenscheibe die vollständig angehobene Schließposition wieder einnimmt.
