Claims (33)

  1. A device (1) for packaging and applying a substance (P), the device comprising:
    · a receptacle (3) for containing the substance (P);
    · an elastically compressible applicator member (6), comprising a retention skirt (22) for fastening onto the receptacle, said skirt extending along an axis (X) and presenting a radially inner face (41), the receptacle comprising a support (5) extending in contact with the radially inner face (41) of the retention skirt (22);
    said device being characterized by the fact that the support (5) comes into contact with the radially inner face (41) of the retention skirt (22) over less than one complete turn about the axis (X), for at least a fraction of the height of the support along the axis (X) and by the fact that the support (5) comprises a substance-feed chimney (19) of non-circular cross-section that comes to bear against the radially inner face (41) of the retention skirt.
  2. A device according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that the radially inner face (41) of the retention skirt (22) is circularly symmetrical about the axis (X).
  3. A device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by the fact that the cross-section of the chimney (19) is polygonal, in particular triangular, square, or hexagonal.
  4. A device according to claim 3, characterized by the fact that the chimney (19) comes into contact with the retention skirt (22) via edges (42).
  5. A device according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterized by the fact that the support comprises a second chimney (73) inside the first chimney.
  6. A device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by the fact that the support (5) comprises uprights (52) extending in contact with the radially inner face (41) of the retention skirt (22).
  7. A device according to the preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the uprights (52) are connected by radially-extending walls (53) to a substance-feed chimney (50).
  8. A device according to claim 6 or 7, characterized by the fact that the uprights (52) are constituted by portions of a cylinder, in particular by coaxial cylinder portions.
  9. A device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by the fact that the support comprises radial fins (65) having respective radially outer edges bearing against the radially inner face (41) of the retention skirt (22).
  10. A device according to the preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the fins (65) are connected to a substance-feed chimney (50).
  11. A device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by the fact that the support comprises at least two substance-feed chimneys, in particular at least three substance-feed chimneys (80), each of these chimneys (80) coming to bear via at least one generator line against the radially inner face (41) of the retention skirt (22).
  12. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the support comprises an outer skirt (17) coming at least in part in contact with a radially outer face (40) of the retention skirt (22).
  13. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the support (5) is constituted by a part fitted onto a body of the receptacle.
  14. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the applicator member (6) is circularly symmetrical, having an outside diameter lying in the range 12 mm to 100 mm.
  15. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the support (5) is made integrally by molding a plastics material, in particular with fastener means on the neck (9) of the receptacle.
  16. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the applicator member (6) bears at least in part against a free edge (55) of the support (5).
  17. A device according to any one of claims 1 to 15, characterized by the fact that the applicator member is spaced apart at least in part from a free edge of the support (5).
  18. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the applicator member comprises at least one annular groove (33) that is open radially towards the outside.
  19. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the retention skirt (22) is stationary relative to the receptacle.
  20. A device according to any one of claims 1 to 18, characterized by the fact that the retention skirt (22) is movable relative to a portion of the receptacle.
  21. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the applicator member is made of a foam.
  22. A device according to any preceding claim, comprising at least one cap (8) for closing the receptacle.
  23. A device according to claim 22, characterized by the fact that the cap is arranged so as to be fastened in leaktight manner on the receptacle.
  24. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the axis (X) of the retention skirt (22) coincides with a longitudinal axis of the receptacle.
  25. A device according to any one of claims 1 to 23, characterized by the fact that the axis (X) of the retention skirt (22) forms a non-zero angle (α) relative to a longitudinal axis (Y) of the receptacle.
  26. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the receptacle comprises an outer wall (83) and by the fact that the substance (P) is in contact with said wall.
  27. A device according to any one of claims 1 to 25, characterized by the fact that the substance is contained in a limp bag (90).
  28. A device according to the preceding claim" characterized by the fact that the receptacle comprises a flexible outer wall (83) having the limp bag (90) placed therein, by the fact that the receptacle is fitted with an air-admission check valve (93) enabling air to enter into the space (91) between the bag and the outer wall, and by the fact that the bag is fitted with an outlet check vale (96) enabling substance to flow in one direction only towards the support (5) and the applicator member (6).
  29. A device according to any preceding claim, characterized by the fact that the receptacle contains a cosmetic (P).
  30. A device according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that it comprises:
    · a first space containing a supply of substance;
    · a wall (10) extending between the first space and the applicator member;
    · at least one first chimney (73) connected to said wall;
    · a second space inside the first chimney;
    · at least one orifice passing through the wall and opening out into the first and second spaces; and
    · a third space (74) capable of being fed with substance and separated at least in part from the second space at least by the first chimney.
  31. A device according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that it comprises:
    · a first space containing a supply of substance;
    · a wall (10) extending between the first space and the applicator member;
    · at least a first chimney connected to said wall;
    · a second space (19) inside the first chimney;
    · a plurality of orifices (70) opening out into the first and second spaces.
  32. A device according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that it comprises dispenser means (100) actuatable by the user in order to feed the applicator member with substance.
  33. A device according to claim 1, characterized by the fact that it comprises a closure system (107, 108) for temporarily closing off communication between a space of the receptacle containing the substance and the applicator member.
