Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a protection device for the containment of explosive objects or suspected as such.
  • a blast protection cover In the case of a blast protection cover, the latter is lifted by the explosion, so that the splinter cover prevents splintering upwards, without effectively protecting an area horizontally surrounding the machine. explosive, nor prevent the propagation of the blast effect. Moreover, the explosive device covered with a blanket is made completely invisible, so that deminers come to examine the machine have some apprehension when releasing the machine to examine it, which increases their stress.
  • the present invention relates to a protection device for the containment of explosive objects or suspected as such, allowing effective protection against a possible explosion of the object, preventing the propagation of splinters and a blast effect, in particular in a horizontal direction.
  • the present invention also relates to a protection device that can be easily implemented without touching a suspicious object, and allowing easy access to the suspect object for deminers, while maintaining an improved protection for the latter.
  • the invention is defined in claims 1 to 9.
  • Such a protective device for the containment of explosive objects or suspected as such includes a sleeve open at its axial ends and comprising at least one layer of fabric-like splinter-type, the sleeve being adapted to be placed on a surface by the one of its ends while keeping itself substantially vertically to surround a suspicious object resting on the surface.
  • the sleeve is intended to be placed vertically by surrounding the object and without touching it.
  • the open-ended sleeve forms a simple and very strong structure in the case of outwardly directed radial forces applied to its inner wall, so that the sleeve contains the chips and the radially propagating blast effect is that is, substantially horizontally. The periphery of the explosive object is protected.
  • the sleeve having an opening on the top when it is installed does not prevent the propagation of the blast effect and splinters upwards, thus allowing an evacuation of the energy of the explosion, in a direction that poses no danger to persons in an area surrounding the explosive object.
  • the blast effect and the flakes propagating downwards see their energy at least partially absorbed during their reflection on the ground.
  • the sleeve open at its ends allows for deminers vision and access to the object from above, while protecting them from the horizontal spread of splinters and the blast effect.
  • the sleeve comprises at least one bursting crown, comprising a plurality of fabric thicknesses of the flash-shield type.
  • the sleeve may include a plurality of split-shield crowns, concentric to increase the protection provided by this sleeve.
  • a bursting ring is formed by a windshield-like fabric winding and provided with at least one axial attachment and reinforcement seam.
  • the axial fastening and reinforcing seam makes it possible to keep the windshield ring wound.
  • the fastening and reinforcing seam locally increases the stiffness of the fabric of the type used for the protection of brightness used to improve the rigidity of the crown, thus allowing a better maintenance of the sleeve in vertical position.
  • a bursting ring may be provided with a plurality of axial seams to increase the resistance of the crown and its holding.
  • the sleeve comprises a reinforcing ring comprising at least one layer of material having sufficient rigidity for holding the sleeve upright when it is set.
  • a plastic material may be used which has the advantage of being light to facilitate the handling of the sleeve.
  • the sleeve comprises at least one reinforcing strap surrounding the sleeve.
  • a reinforcing strap increases the resistance of the sleeve to radially outwardly directed internal forces developed by the blast effect of an explosion.
  • the device comprises a first sleeve and a second sleeve surrounding the first sleeve, the second sleeve being slidable relative to the first sleeve.
  • the first sleeve and the second sleeve are connected by a flexible connection.
  • the protective device may comprise an inner protective layer of the fire-resistant type.
  • a fire resistant coating may be of the type comprising aluminum.
  • a fire-resistant coating may be provided in the form of a fire-resistant fabric forming an inner wall of an outer shell of the sleeve.
  • a protective device for the containment of explosive objects or suspected as such referenced 1 as a whole, is in the form of a multilayer sleeve 2, having an outer casing 3 provided with an inner wall 4 and An outer surface 5.
  • the sleeve 2 has openings 6, 7 at its axial ends.
  • Handles 8, here two in number, are fixed on an upper edge of the sleeve 2.
  • the multilayer sleeve 2 comprises concentric layers or rings housed in the casing 3.
  • the sleeve 2 comprises, inter alia, bumpers to prevent the propagation of splinters and a blast effect, as well as reinforcement rings.
  • the concentric layers are successively described starting from the inside of the sleeve 2 to the outside.
  • the first layer encountered is the inner wall 4 of the envelope 3, which is preferably made of fireproof fabric or provided with an aluminum-type fireproof coating.
  • the sleeve 2 comprises three bearing rings 9 arranged concentrically inside the casing 3, and made of splinter materials, for example of the type used in bulletproof vests.
  • the sleeve comprises a reinforcing ring 10 of semi-rigid plastic material, and also a protective ring 9, and an outer layer 11 forming the casing 3 with the inner wall 4 and having an outer surface 5.
  • the outer layer It may be provided in any material or fabric.
  • a protective ring 9 is formed by a winding of a strip of fabric firewall 12 to obtain a multilayer protective ring 9, here comprising two layers.
  • the strip of fabric 14 is kept wound by means of an axial fastening and reinforcing seam 13 passing through the different layers of fabric, to attach the ends of the strip.
  • radiation shield fabric 11 located radially facing each other.
  • a second fastening and reinforcing seam 14 diametrically opposed to the first seam 12 is provided for improved attachment and reinforcement of the protective ring 9.
  • a protective ring 9 may comprise any number of layers, depending on the protection that is desired, and the number of different crowns that are used. One could only provide a thick protective crown.
  • the sleeve 2 has sufficient resistance to be held vertically when it is placed on one of its axial ends, it is not necessary to include a reinforcing ring 10 in the thickness of the sleeve 2.
  • the horizontal forces F H caused by an explosion propagate radially substantially symmetrically and hit the inner wall 4 of the sleeve 2.
  • the sleeve 2 made of fabric and possibly a semi-rigid reinforcement ring, has a substantially oval shape , elliptical or cylindrical, which allows the sleeve 2 to effectively resist these radial forces.
  • the semi-rigid sleeve deforms under the effect of the blast of the explosion to best withstand the internal forces exerted by the horizontal forces F H.
  • the protective crowns are designed to withstand these considerable forces.
  • Sleeve 2 contains the blast effect and splinters. As a result, the horizontal forces F H are reflected inward partially absorbed. The successive reflections of the horizontal forces F H inside the sleeve 2 absorb and dissipate the horizontal propagation energy created by the explosion.
  • the protective device for the containment of explosive or suspected objects can be used inside or outside buildings and uses the resistance of the ground to dissipate some of the energy produced by the explosion.
  • a sleeve 2 comprises straps 19 surrounding the sleeve 2.
  • the straps 19 allowing to improve a mechanical strength of the sleeve to contain the blast effect of an explosion.
  • a protection device 1 comprises a first sleeve 2 and a second sleeve 20, shorter than the first sleeve 2, and surrounding a lower end of the first sleeve 2.
  • the second sleeve 20 can slide axially relative to the first sleeve 2.
  • the second sleeve 20 has a composition similar to that of the first sleeve 2, and comprises in particular protective crowns not shown on the figure 6 .
  • an uplift of the sleeve 2 can occur, following the action of vertical forces on the inner wall 4 of the first sleeve 2 or a reaction force caused by the vertical forces directed downwards.
  • a blast effect propagates between a lower edge of the first sleeve 2 and the ground, and that splinters are projected horizontally and pass through this space.
  • the second sleeve 20 slidable relative to the first sleeve 2, and not having undergone the direct influence of the explosion remains stationary, in contact with the ground.
  • the second sleeve 20 prevents horizontal propagation of the effect of blast and projected splinters.
  • a flexible connection 21 connects the lower edge of the first sleeve 2 and the upper edge of the second sleeve 20.
  • a length of the flexible connection 21 is provided so that, when the first sleeve is moved relative to the second sleeve until the flexible connection 21 is stretched, an overlap of the first sleeve 2 by the second sleeve 20 is retained for avoid the formation of a gap.
  • the sleeve 2 can be obtained with different sizes depending on the size of the explosive device that is to be confined. As a precaution, it may be possible to provide for the confinement of an explosive device by using sleeves of different sizes which are successively laid concentrically to form a plurality of protective barriers, or to prevent horizontal propagation of the blast effect. splinters if a central sleeve is slightly raised at the time of the explosion.
  • the sleeve 2 surrounding the explosive device at the time of its explosion prevents a horizontal spread of the chips while allowing the chips to propagate upwards or hit the ground.
  • the forces created by the blast effect and vertically propagating splinters will meet either the ground or a ceiling, which are generally resistant structures that can stop without much damage the blast effect and splinters.
  • the sleeve contains and dissipates the blast effect horizontally, as well as horizontally projected flakes. The sleeve provides increased protection horizontally to protect humans and facilities around the explosive device.
