Abstract
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Cyclohexanol aus Benzol durch a) Herstellung von Cyclohexen durch Hydrierung von Benzol in Gegenwart eine Katalysators und b) Herstellung von Cyclohexanol durch Hydratisierung des Cyclohexens in Gegenwart eines Katalysators, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Schritte a) und b) in einer Reaktionsvorrichtung durchführt, die am unteren Ende einen Sumpfbereich, am oberen Ende einen Kopfbereich und zwischen Sumpfbereich und Kopfbereich eine Reaktionszone aufweist, die den Katalysator gemäss den Schritten a) und b) enthält, durch die Reaktionswärme in der Reaktionszone einen Teil des Benzols verdampft, im Kopfbereich kondensiert und erneut in die Reaktionszone zurückführt, und im Sumpfbereich ein Reaktionsgemisch enthaltend Cyclohexanol entnimmt.
Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Cyclohexanol aus Benzol
Beschreibung
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Cyclohexanol aus Benzol durch
a) Herstellung von Cyclohexen durch Hydrierung von Benzol in Ge- genwart eines Katalysators und
b) Herstellung von Cyclohexanol durch Hydratisierung des Cyclo- hexens in Gegenwart eines Katalysators,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man
die Schritte a) und b) in einer Reaktionsvorrichtung durchführt, die
am unteren Ende einen Sumpfbereich,
am oberen Ende einen Kopfbereich und
zwischen Sumpfbereich und Kopfbereich eine Reaktionszone auf- weist, die den Katalysator gemäß den Schritten a) und b) enthält,
durch die Reaktionswärme in der Reaktionszone einen Teil des Benzols verdampft, im Kopfbereich kondensiert und erneut in die Reaktionszone zurückführt,
und
im Sumpfbereich ein Reaktionsgemisch enthaltend Cyclohexanol entnimmt.
Cyclohexanol stellt gemäß: Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 5. Edition, Volume A8 , VCH Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, Weinheim, Deutschland, 1987, Seite 222, Absatz 6., eine wichtige Zwischenstufe dar bei der Herstellung von Adipinsäure und Capro- lacta , die beide Monomere zur Herstellung bedeutender Polymere, wie Polyamid 6 und 66, bilden. Zudem findet Cyclohexanol Anwendung als Lösungs- und Reinigungsmittel und bei der Herstellung von Weichmachern, Insektiziden und Duftstoffen.
Zur Herstellung von Cyclohexanol sind verschiedene kontinuierliche Verfahren bekannt.
Eines von ihnen umfaßt gemäß Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, a.a.O., S. 221, Absatz 2.4., die Hydrierung von Benzol zu Cyclohexen in Gegenwart eines Katalysators und die Hydratisierung des Cyclohexens in Gegenwart eines Katalysators zu Cyclo- hexanol .
Bekanntermaßen treten bei diesem Verfahren zwei wesentliche Probleme auf, nämlich bei der Hydrierung von Benzol zu Cyclohexen in unerwünscht hohem Umfang die Bildung von Cyclohexan und anschlie- ßend die schwierige Abtrennung von Cyclohexen aus dem Benzol/Cy- c1ohexan/Cyc1ohexen-Gemisch .
Um die Überhydrierung von Benzol zu Cyclohexan zurückzudrängen, kann die Hydrierung nur mit einem partiellen Benzol-Umsatz durch- geführt werden. Dies hat aber den Nachteil, daß größere Apparaturen für die Hydrierung benötigt werden und zudem eine Abtrennung des nicht umgesetzten Benzols - neben dem trotz der nur teilweisen Umsetzung von Benzol entstandenen Cyclohexan - aus dem Produktgemisch erforderlich ist. Da Benzol und Cyclohexan ein Azeo- trop bilden, andererseits aber nur Benzol wiederum zu Cyclohexen hydriert werden kann, bereitet auch bei dieser Verfahrenvariante die Auftrennung der Reaktionsprodukte erhebliche Probleme.
Der vorliegenden Erfindung lag die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein Verfah- ren bereitzustellen, das die Herstellung von Cyclohexanol aus
Benzol auf technisch einfach und wirtschaftliche Weise ermöglicht unter Vermeidung der genannten Nachteile.
Demgemäß wurde das eingangs definierte Verfahren gefunden.
Erfindungsgemäß führt man die Herstellung von Cyclohexanol aus Benzol in einer Reaktionsvorrichtung durch, die
am unteren Ende einen Sumpfbereich,
am oberen Ende einen Kopfbereich und
zwischen Sumpfbereich und Kopfbereich eine Reaktionszone aufweist, die den Katalysator gemäß den Schritten a) und b) enthält.
Als bevorzugte Reaktionsvorrichtung kommen Destillationskolonnen in Betracht, wie sie beispielsweise in: Kirk-Othmer, Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 3. Ed., Vol. 7, John Wiley & Sons, New York, 1979, Seite 870-881 beschrieben sind, wie Bodenkolonnen, beispielsweise Siebbodenkolonnen oder Glockenbodenkolonnen, Pak-
kungskolonnen oder Füllkörperkolonnen. Besonders bevorzugt sind Packungskolonnen.
Die Reaktionszone kann sich innerhalb der Destillationskolonne befinden.
Die Reaktionszone kann sich außerhalb der Destillationskolonne befinden. In diesem Fall können der Druck in der Reaktionszone und der Druck in der Destillationskolonne gleich oder unter- schiedlich sein.
In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform kann die Reaktionsvorrichtung zwischen Sumpfbereich und Reaktionszone eine weitere Zone ("Trennzone") enthalten, die frei von Katalysatoren gemäß Schritt a) und b) ist und die eine theoretische Bodenzahl im Bereich von 5 bis 50, vorzugsweise von 20 bis 40, insbesondere von 15 bis 25 aufweist .
Als weitere Zone kommt vorteilhaft der Trennteil einer Destilla- tionskolonne in Betracht, wobei unter dem Trennteil der Teil einer Destillationskolonne verstanden wird, der sich bei einer üblichen Destillationskolonne, wie sie beispielsweise in: Kirk-Oth- mer, Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 3. Ed., Vol. 7, John Wi- ley & Sons, New York, 1979, Seite 870-881 beschrieben sind, wie Bodenkolonnen, beispielsweise Siebbodenkolonnen oder Glockenbodenkolonnen, Packungskolonnen oder Füllkörperkolonnen zwischen dem Sumpfteil und dem Kopfteil befindet.
In einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform kommt als Reakti- onsvorrichtung eine Druckkolonne in Betracht.
Vorteilhaft kann das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren bei einem Druck im Bereich von 0,1 bis 3,5 MPa, vorzugsweise von 0,5 bis 2,5 MPa durchgeführt werden.
Hieraus ergeben sich in der Reaktionszone Temperaturen im Bereich von 70 bis 220°C, vorzugsweise von 120 bis 190°C.
In einer weiteren bevorzugten Ausführungsform kann die Reaktions- Vorrichtung am oberen Ende des Kopfteils eine Möglichkeit für die Entnahme von Gasen aufweisen.
Erfindungsgemäß enthält die Reaktionszone zur Durchführung der Reaktionen gemäß Schritt a) und b) geeignete Katalysatoren. Hierzu kommen die für Schritt a) und b) an sich bekannten Katalysatoren grundsätzlich in Betracht.
In einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform kann man in Schritt a) Katalysatoren einsetzen, die als katalytisch aktive Komponente mindestens ein Element der Gruppe VIII, vorzugsweise Ruthenium, oder deren Gemische als Katalysator einsetzen. Gegebenenfalls können solche Katalysatoren mindestens ein weiteres Übergangsmetall einer anderen Gruppe als Gruppe VIII, vorzugsweise Zink, oder deren Gemische als Dotierung enthalten.
Solche Katalysatoren sind beispielsweise in EP-A-1048349 be- schrieben.
In einer weiteren bevorzugten Ausführungsform kann man in Schritt b) mindestens einen Zeolithen, wie ZSM-5, ZSM-11, ZBM-10, MCM-22, MCM-36, MCm-49, PSH-3 , oder deren oder deren Gemische als Kataly- sator einsetzen.
Solche Katalysatoren sind beispielsweise in DE-A-19951280 beschrieben.
In einer besonders bevorzugten Ausführungsform können Gemische der für Schritt a) und Schritt b) genannten Katalysatoren eingesetzt werden.
In einer insbesondere bevorzugten Ausführungsform kann ein bi- funktioneller Katalysator eingesetzt werden, der die Schritte a) und b) gleichzeitig katalysiert.
Die Mengen an Katalysator für Schritt a) und b) können gemäß den für diese Katalysatoren für die jeweiligen Reaktionen bekannten Katalysatorbelastungen und den im erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren gewählten Umsätzen leicht bestimmt und eine Optimierung der Katalysatormengen kann durch wenige einfache Vorversuche leicht durchgeführt werden.
Vorteilhaft kommt eine Zugabe von Benzol in die Reaktionsvorrichtung im Kopfbereich, insbesondere in flüssiger Phase in Betracht.
Weiterhin kommt vorteilhaft eine Zugabe von Wasser in die Reaktionsvorrichtung im Kopfbereich, insbesondere in flüssiger Phase in Betracht.
Insbesondere können Benzol und Wasser als Gemisch in flüssiger Phase im Kopfbereich in die Reaktionsvorrichtung gegeben werden.
Das Mengenverhältnis zwischen Benzol und Wasser ist dabei durch die Stöchiometrie der Umsetzung und weiterhin durch die Im Sumpf- bereich entnommene Wassermenge bestimmt. Insbesondere kommt ein
Mengenverhältnis von Benzol zu Wasser im Bereich von 1:2 bis 5:1 mol/mol, vorzugsweise von 1:1 bis 3:1 mol/mol in Betracht.
Der für die Reaktion benötigte Wasserstoff kann vorteilhaft un- terhalb der Reaktionsvorrichtung in die Reaktionsvorrichtung gegeben werden. Enthält die Reaktionszone eine Trennzone, so kann vorzugsweise der Wasserstoff zwischen Trennzone und Reaktionszone in die Reaktionsvorrichtung gegeben werden.
Das Mengenverhältnis zwischen Benzol und Wasserstoff ist dabei durch die Stöchiometrie der Umsetzung und weiterhin durch die Im Sumpfbereich entnommene Menge an Cyclohexan bestimmt.
Die in der Reaktionszone stattfindenden Reaktionen verlaufen ins- gesamt exotherm, also unter Wärmeerzeugung. Erfindungsgemäß führt man die Reaktion so durch, daß durch die entstehende Reaktionswärme ein Teil des Benzols verdampft, im Kopfbereich kondensiert und erneut in die Reaktionszone zurückgeführt wird.
Erfindungsgemäß entnimmt man im Sumpfbereich ein Reaktionsgemisch, das Cyclohexanol enthält.
In einer vorteilhaften Ausführungsform enthält das Reaktionsgemisch weniger als 10 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise weniger als 1 Gew.-% Benzol enthält, insbesondere ist das Reaktionsgemisch frei von Benzol .
Die Selektivität von Cyclohexanol gemäß Schritt a) und b) , bezogen auf Benzol, und der Benzolgehalt in dem im Sumpfbereich ent- nommenen Reaktionsgemisch kann vorteilhaft mittels des Energieeintrags in die Reaktionsvorrichtung, insbesondere im Sumpfbereich, geregelt werden.
Vorteilhafterweise regelt man den Umsatz so, daß das Reaktionsge- misch, bezogen auf Gesamtgewicht des Reaktionsgemischs, aus
von 20 bis 40 Gew.-%, insbesondere von 25 bis 30 Gew.-% Cylo- hexanol ,
von 40 bis 70 Gew.-%, insbesondere von 50 bis 70 Gew.-% Cylo- hexan,
von 1 bis 10 Gew.-%, insbesondere von 2 bis 10 Gew.-% Wasser,
Rest, vorzugsweise kein, Benzol
besteht .
Die Lösung der der vorliegenden Erfindung zugrunde liegenden Aufgabe durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren ist überraschend, da bekanntermaßen die Hydrierung von Cyclohexen zu Cyclohexan schnell, die Hydratisierung von Cyclohexen zu Cyclohexanol dagegen langsam verläuft und zudem die genannte Hydratisierung eine Gleichgewichtsreaktion darstellt, die auf der Seite des Cyclohe- xens liegt.
Beispiel 1
In eine Druckkolonne mit einem Durchmesser von 70 mm, einem Sumpfbereich, einer Trennzone mit 20 Glockenböden einer Reakti- onszone, die 750 cm3 eines Katalysators aus 0,1 Gew.-% Ruthenium und 0,1 Gew.-% Zink auf ZBM-10-Strängen (1,5 mm Durchmesser) in Montz-Katapak enthielt und einem Kopfbereich wurden im Kopfbereich ein Gemisch aus 500 g/h Benzol und 38 g/h Wasser bei 95°C flüssig und zwischen Reaktionszone und Trennzone 34 g/h Wasser- stoff bei einem Druck in der Kolonne von 1,216 MPa (12 bar), gemessen im Sumpfbereich, zugegeben. Die Temperatur im Sumpfbereich betrug 180°C, die Energieeinspeisung in den Sumpfbereich betrug 0,6 kW.
Das im Sumpfbereich entnommene Reaktionsgemisch entsprechend der zugegebenen Benzol-, Wasser- und Wasserstoffmenge hatte folgende Zusammensetzung :
29 Gew.-% Cyclohexanol
61 Gew.-% Cyclohexan
10 Gew.-% Wasser

Claims
1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Cyclohexanol aus Benzol durch
a) Herstellung von Cyclohexen durch Hydrierung von Benzol in Gegenwart eines Katalysators und
b) Herstellung von Cyclohexanol durch Hydratisierung des Cy- clohexens in Gegenwart eines Katalysators,
dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man
die Schritte a) und b) in einer Reaktionsvorrichtung durchführt, die
am unteren Ende einen Sumpfbereich,
am oberen Ende einen Kopfbereich und
zwischen Sumpfbereich und Kopfbereich eine Reaktionszone aufweist, die den Katalysator gemäß den Schritten a) und b) enthält,
durch die Reaktionswärme in der Reaktionszone einen Teil des Benzols verdampft, im Kopfbereich kondensiert und erneut in die Reaktionszone zurückführt,
und
im Sumpfbereich ein Reaktionsgemisch enthaltend Cyclohexanol entnimmt .
2. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, wobei man das Benzol im Kopfbe- reich zuführt.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei man die Selektivität von Cyclohexanol gemäß Schritt a) und b) , bezogen auf Benzol, mittels des Energieeintrags im Sumpfbereich regelt.
4. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, wobei das dem Sumpfbereich entnommene Reaktionsgemisch frei von Benzol und Cyclohexen ist.
5. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 4, wobei sich zwischen Sumpfbereich und Reaktionszone eine weitere Zone befindet, die frei von den Katalysatoren gemäß Schritt a) und b) ist und die eine theoretische Bodenzahl im Bereich von 5 bis 50 aufweist .
6. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 5, wobei man das Verfah- ren bei einem Druck im Bereich von 0,1 bis 3,5 MPa, gemessen im Sumpfbereich der Reaktionsvorrichtung, durchführt.
7. Verfahren nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 6, wobei man als Reaktionsvorrichtung eine Destillationskolonne einsetzt.
