Abstract

An ink inkjet recording, which contains an aqueous medium and, dissolved or dispersed therein, a magenta dye selected from azo dyes, characterized in that the magenta dye has an oxidation potential nobler than 1.0 V (vsSCE) and contains a water-miscible organic solvent having a vapor pressure at 20˚C of 2000 Pa or less; and a method for inkjet recording using the ink. The ink combines high discharge stability, good color of a resulting image, no drying thereof at an ink jet head and excellent resistance to light and water, and further is free from defects of image quality such as the ooze from a fine line even under a high humidity condition and exhibits good durability of an image under a severe condition and high storage stability and high discharge stability even after the elapse of a long period of time under a severe condition.
