Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for introducing a secondary shape into a molded part having a cavity, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- extruded profiles or pipes in particular are among others the hydroforming process is used.
- a Molding in particular a profile or tube, with a closed Cross-section inserted in a tool and sealed at both ends locked. The tool is closed. Then using a Liquid inflated the molding under very high pressure until it is completely adapted to the tool engraving or embossing.
- the contour of the molded part is created by the molding tool contour and determined by the internal pressure prevailing in the molded part. at the internal pressure in the molded part serves as this method Deformation medium, which deforms the molding itself until it fills the engraving or embossing in the tool.
- a disadvantage of the internal high-pressure forming process is that an internal pressure of approx. 1000 - 2000 bar is required for this.
- the high internal pressure creates enormous forces that must be absorbed by the tool. Since the pressing devices of the tool cannot absorb any lateral forces, it is precisely in this area that the forming part of the tool has to absorb all the forces which arise, as a result of which these tool parts have to be dimensioned very solidly.
- a disadvantage of these conventional embossing processes is that the molded part, in particular a longer extruded profile, warps in all spatial directions when the secondary mold is introduced, so that an accurate, dimensionally accurate component result is not possible with such a process.
- the object of the invention is to provide a cost-effective method for the exact introduction of secondary forms into molded parts with a cavity, which ensures the dimensional accuracy of the molded parts and which is also profitable for smaller quantities.
- the molded part is placed in a holder, which can be made of steel or another material and which partially or completely molds the molded part, and the cavity of the molded part is filled with a gaseous medium to generate an internal pressure, which is only in the interior of the molded part Support medium is used without deforming the molded part.
- a secondary mold is then introduced into the molded part from the outside by means of a solid deformation medium, in particular an embossing stamp.
- gaseous media can be used to build up the support pressure, since the pressure required for support is significantly lower than the pressure that would be required for deformation.
- Such a structure can be implemented inexpensively because the tools required for processing do not have to be designed in such a complex manner, which makes the use of this method particularly suitable for molded parts for small series.
- secondary molds can be precisely inserted into the molded part using stamping stamps without causing sink marks on the adjacent areas.
- the dimensional accuracy, in particular the shape line tolerances, of the molded parts deteriorate only insignificantly in this process.
- Another advantage of this process is that it can be used to produce molded parts with secondary shapes that, in addition to their functionality, also have a very aesthetic appearance.
- FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the molded part 1 in the tool before the secondary mold is introduced.
- the molded part 1 is located in a forming tool, consisting of a tool holder with a lower tool part 2 and an upper tool part 3 , which serve as holders during the forming, and an embossing stamp 4 , which produces the secondary form during the forming.
- the molded part 1 has a cavity 6 .
- This cavity 6 is already closed at its ends by means of seals 8 and filled with a gaseous support medium.
- seals 8 plastic or rubber materials can be used, which are pressed, for example, as plates or plugs 8 onto the edges or surfaces of the molded part.
- the design of the semi-finished shape for sealing the tool can be varied flexibly, so that, for example, plugs 8 can also be used, as shown here.
- Sealing can be done manually by screwing the sealing mechanism onto the molded part 1 and / or onto the tool holder 2, 3 . But it is also an automation of the sealing z. B. conceivable by a pneumatic cylinder.
- the working pressure in the molded part 1 should be just high enough to counteract and prevent sink marks near the embossment.
- the actual reshaping is carried out by means of the stamp 4 .
- the support pressure in the cavity 6 acts primarily to support the process.
- the support pressures used are in the low pressure range, for example between 5 and 20 bar.
- the low support pressure enables cost-effective pressure control and simple sealing. Furthermore, lower press forces are required for tool operation and the tool components can also be dimensioned much smaller.
- the seals are 8 simple plugs.
- the pressure in the cavity 6 of the molded part 1 is, for example, approximately 5-20 bar.
- molded part 1 is an extruded aluminum profile, which will later be used as a side member in a lightweight body.
- the cavity 6 arranged in the molded part 1 can be filled before, during or after inserting the molded part 1 into the tool holder 2, 3 .
- the gas used to fill the cavity 6 is compressed air, which is environmentally friendly and is available cheaply everywhere.
- the molded part 1 shown here is completely or partially fixed between the tool parts 2 and 3 , so that when the secondary mold is introduced, the molded part 1 retains its shape lines 11 at the points not to be reshaped and, for example, does not collapse during this reshaping.
- the embossing stamp 4 is located above the molded part 1 and is intended to introduce the secondary shape into the molded part 1 by means of plastic deformation. This stamping stamp 4 can have any shape. In the application example, the embossing stamp has a wedge shape that creates a transverse groove as a secondary shape in the molded part 1 .
- an arrangement of transverse grooves on an extruded aluminum profile designed as a longitudinal member for motor vehicle bodies serves to fold the longitudinal member together at these crash beads, so that the impact energy can be absorbed in a defined form.
- the VerSchgungsstempel 4 and the tool holder 2, 3 are movably arranged to each other, so that either the molded article 1 to 4 or the Ver rempligungsstempel Ver rempligungsstempel 4 can be led to the molding. 1 If the molded part 1 is fixed and positioned in the tool holder 2, 3 , the deformation, that is to say the introduction of the secondary shape into the molded part 1 , is carried out by means of a stamp 4.
- FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the molded part 1 in the tool as described in FIG. 1 after the secondary mold has been introduced.
- the embossing stamp 4 is now in the molded part 1 .
- the molded part 1 now has a secondary shape 7 .
- the secondary groove 7 in the molded part 1 which is in the form of a groove in the application example, is the result of the plastic deformation by means of a stamp 4 . It is particularly noteworthy that the side mold 7 due to the pressure prevailing in the interior of the support pressure in the interior of the molding 1 very exactly conforms to the shape of the Vergargungsstempel. 4 The surface indentation on the molded part 1 in the transition area to the secondary mold 7 is very small.
- the edge region 13 of the groove is designed very precisely.
- this longitudinal section illustration is intended to show that the surfaces and lines of the molded part which have not come into contact with the stamp 4 almost all remain in their original form. This means that the molded part 1 is deformed almost exclusively only at the points in contact with the stamp 4 . In the side area where a deformation takes place without contact with the stamp, the deformation can take place in a controllable sequence, so that identical deformations always occur in this area. This will be described in the following figures.
- FIG. 3 shows a plan view of the horizontal deformation plane of the molded part located in the tool 2, 3, 5 before the secondary mold is introduced.
- the molded part 1 is located in a forming tool, consisting of a lower tool part 2 , an upper tool part, the upper tool part cannot be shown in this view, which serve as holders during the forming, and an embossing stamp 4 , which generates the secondary shape during the forming ,
- the lower tool part 2 has elastic jaws 5 , which are arranged laterally to the molded part 1 in the forming area. These jaws 5 are dimensioned such that they nestle against the molded part.
- the molded part 1 has the gas-filled cavity described in Figure 1 , which could not be shown in this figure.
- the molded part 1 shown here is fixed in the tool holder.
- the stamp 4 is located above the molded part 1 .
- the stamping stamp 4 has a wedge shape, which creates a transverse groove as a secondary shape in the molded part. If the molded part 1 is fixed and positioned in the tool, which has partially elastic components 5 , the deformation, that is to say the introduction of the secondary shape into the molded part, is carried out by means of an embossing stamp.
- FIG. 4 shows a top view of the horizontal deformation plane of the molded part 1 located in the tool 2, 5 after the secondary mold 7 has been introduced .
- this figure shows the side region of the molded part in the region of the secondary mold 7 introduced and the resulting deformation of the elastic jaws 5 in the tool.
- These elastic jaws are used to save costs. This means that the tool surfaces that are in the direct embossing area are made of an elastic plastic. Due to the elasticity of these die inserts, their contour can correspond to that of the undeformed molded part 1 . If these jaws were made of steel, they would have to be provided with a complicated free-form contour of the finished formed part.
- This method preferably uses die inserts made of an elastomer, the hardness and material properties of which are matched to the deformation.
- the embossing stamp is introduced, the material displaced in the molded part 1 is compressed outwards into the side area. The reason for this is the partial elasticity of the holding tool at this point, which can be implemented simply and inexpensively with the elastic jaw insert 5. Since the tool is elastic in this side area, the resistance to deformation is also lowest here, so that the material which has been displaced by the stamping die can be shaped here.
- This lateral formation which occurs without direct contact with the stamp 4 , but only results from the deformation forces in the molded part 1 , is a bulge 10 in the exemplary embodiment.
- the bulge 10 is arranged symmetrically on both sides.
- the shape and the reproducibility of this lateral bulge 10 during stamping is dependent on the support pressure inside the molded part 1 and on the elasticity of the tool in this area.
- the elastic jaws 5 serve here as an elastic support in the outer area, which together with the gaseous support medium arranged in the cavity are intended to prevent the side area from collapsing.
- the shaping is influenced optimally with these support means, so that a wrinkle-free, uniform bulge 10 is achieved.
- FIG. 5 shows a cross section, that is to say the section AA from FIG. 3, on the vertical deformation plane through the molded part 1 located in the tool 2, 3, 5 before the secondary mold is introduced.
- the molded part 1 which has a rectangular cross section, is located in a forming tool, consisting of a lower tool part 2, an upper tool part 3 , which serve as holders during the forming, and an embossing stamp 4 , which produces the secondary shape during the forming.
- the lower tool part 2 has elastic jaws 5 , which are arranged laterally to the molded part in the forming area. These jaws 5 are dimensioned such that they can nestle against the molded part.
- the molded part 1 has the gas-filled cavity 6 described in FIG. 1 .
- the molded part 1 shown here is fixed between the tool parts 2, 3, 5.
- the stamping stamp 4 is located above the molded part 1 .
- the wedge-shaped embossing stamp is rectangular and dimensioned such that it protrudes laterally over the molded part 1 in order to also provide the later bulge with a transverse groove structure. If the molded part 1 is fixed and positioned in the tool, which has partially elastic components 5 , the deformation, that is to say the introduction of the secondary shape into the molded part, is carried out by means of a stamp 4 .
- FIG. 6 shows a cross section, that is to say the section BB on the vertical deformation plane through the molded part 1 located in the tool after the secondary mold has been introduced.
- this figure shows the side area in cross section of the molded part 1 in the area of the bottom of the groove-shaped secondary shape 7 and the resulting deformation of the elastic jaws 5 in the tool. It is clear here that when the embossing stamp 4 is introduced, the material displaced in the molded part is compressed outwards into the side region. The reason for this is the elasticity of the holding tool at this point, which can be implemented simply and inexpensively with the elastic jaw insert 5.
- This lateral formation which occurs without direct contact with the stamp 4 , but results from the force transmission in the material in the molded part 1 , is a bulge 10 in the exemplary embodiment.
- the bulge 10 is arranged symmetrically on both sides. The shape and the reproducibility of this lateral bulge 10 during stamping is dependent on the support pressure in the interior 6 of the molded part 10 and on the elasticity of the tool in this area.
- the elastic jaws 5 serve here as an elastic support in the outer area which, together with the gaseous support medium arranged in the cavity 6 , are intended to prevent the side area from collapsing and sink marks in the side area. With these support means, a wrinkle-free, uniform bulge 10 can be achieved over a minimal profile area.
- the focus of the cost saving is on the use of a gaseous support medium in order to avoid the complex process problems and the cost.
- a gaseous support medium When using a gaseous support medium, however, care must be taken that the support pressures used do not become too high due to the problems already mentioned.
- Compressed air or nitrogen is used as a support medium, which is generally available inexpensively in the internal operating network. Furthermore, these two gases can easily escape during tool ventilation, since they are harmless to the environment. For these reasons, there is a significant cost advantage in tool manufacture and when using compressed air also in tool operation. This process enables inexpensive forming or stamping of workpieces in smaller quantities. Possible applications for the process are, for example, embossing extruded profiles with beads or notches to limit the force transmission.
- domes for screw-on points can be stamped into the corresponding molded parts using the process.
- the tolerances that can be achieved are sufficient for such or similar applications.
- the process allows any shaped parts, in particular tubes and profiles with a closed cross section, in particular to be formed from aluminum.
- molded parts made of steel or plastic with the appropriate wall thicknesses are also suitable for this process.
- the tool can be modular Construction can be carried out so that it is considered short Setup times can be used for several different forming operations.
- the distribution of the active tool components 4 and passive tool components 2, 3, 5 can be varied relatively freely.
- the minor form can be any form for any purpose exhibit.
