Description

The present invention relates to a set of glass bricks.

We know from the document EP-0 853 167 a glass brick element for a fire-resistant wall part consisting of two hollow glass bricks joined by their viewing surface, an adhesive mass being interposed between their viewing surface to connect the hollow bricks, so that the hollow bricks form a unit.

The adhesive mass disposed on the viewing surface is traversed by the light. The sticky mass affects the transparency of the glass brick element and damages the appearance of the glass brick element. In addition, over time, the adhesive mass is impaired by light or heat, resulting in alteration and opacification of the adhesive mass. Therefore, the adhesive mass may prevent a satisfactory vision through the element made of glass bricks.

The present invention relates to a set of glass bricks for improving heat resistance and burglary characteristics, while maintaining a transparency of the set of glass bricks to allow a satisfactory vision and a passage Satisfying light through the set of glass bricks.

Such a set of hollow glass bricks comprises at least two hollow glass bricks each having two opposite frontal viewing surfaces and a lateral surface, the bricks being arranged so that a front surface of a brick is located opposite one frontal surface of the other brick. According to one aspect of the invention, the bricks are connected by a connecting element arranged at the outside of an intermediate space between the front surfaces of the bricks.

The connecting element disposed outside the intermediate space between the front surfaces of the bricks does not oppose the passage of light through the set of bricks. In addition, the connecting element is not exposed to light, which avoids alteration over time.

According to the invention, the glass bricks are in direct contact by their facing facing surfaces.

According to the invention, a front surface of a brick has on an outer edge a peripheral bead through which it can come into contact with a peripheral bead of the front surface of the other brick or an interposed glass plate. The provision of a peripheral bead coming into contact with the front surface of the other brick makes it possible to provide a space between a central portion of the front surface of the glass block and the front surface of the other brick, which allows to improve resistance to heat transmission.

Advantageously, a connecting element is in the form of an adhesive joint surrounding a zone of direct contact between the bricks, and connecting the glass bricks together. The glue joint surrounding the direct contact areas is not located in a light passage zone. The glue joint connecting the bricks together keeps between the bricks.

In another embodiment, a connecting element is in the form of an adhesive tape surrounding the glass bricks at an intermediate space between the front surfaces of the bricks, the longitudinal edges of the adhesive tape being fixed on the bricks. side surfaces of bricks. The adhesive tape attached to the lateral surfaces of the bricks makes it possible to hold the bricks together without the ribbon being interposed between the front surfaces of the bricks and does not oppose the passage of light.

Les briques sont en contact direct.The bricks are in direct contact.

In one embodiment, a hollow glass brick has a cavity limited by two opposite end walls and a side wall.

Preferably, the connecting element is waterproof to water vapor to seal an intermediate space formed between the front surfaces of the bricks.

The present invention and its advantages will be better understood on studying the detailed description of embodiments taken as non-limiting examples and illustrated by the appended figures in which:
  • the figure 1 is a sectional view of a set of glass bricks according to one aspect of the invention;
  • the figure 2 is a sectional view of a variant of a set of glass bricks according to the figure 1 ;
  • the figure 3 is a sectional view of a set of glass bricks, which is not covered by the claims;
  • the figure 4 is a sectional view of another embodiment;
  • the figure 5 is a sectional view of a variant of the embodiment according to the figure 4 ;
  • the figure 6 is a sectional view of a set of glass bricks, which is not covered by the claims; and
  • the figure 7 is an axial sectional view of a set of glass bricks, which is not covered by the claims.

A hollow glass brick 1, 2 has a cavity 4 bounded by two opposite front walls 5, 6 substantially parallel, and a side wall 7 extending perpendicularly between the front walls 5, 6 and having a closed contour. A brick 1, 2 has on its front walls 5, 6 end faces 8 facing outwards, the front surfaces having a flat central portion 9, and being provided on their outer edge with a bead 10 projecting from the plane of the central portion 9 of the opposite side to the cavity 4 of the brick 1.2. A bead 10 has in section a rounded profile whose apex, that is to say the portion farthest from the plane of the flat central portion 9 of the front surface 8 in a direction perpendicular to the flat central portion, forms substantially the limit of the frontal area of vision. A brick 1, 2 has on the outside of its side wall 7 a side surface 11 which joins the surface of the bead 10 by a rounded portion 11a.

A hollow brick 1, 2 can be obtained in known manner from two half-shells, each half-shell being in the form of a front wall and a skirt extending perpendicularly to the front wall. Two corresponding half-shells are fixed to form a hollow brick by joining the free ends of their peripheral skirts and fixing them, for example by welding, as is the case in the illustrated embodiment where one can see a welding bead 12 located on the side wall 7, substantially spaced between the two end walls 5, 6 bricks 1, 2.

The bricks 1, 2 are arranged so that the front faces 8 of the bricks 1, 2 are facing each other, that is to say that the bricks are aligned in a direction of vision which is a direction perpendicular to the plane of the front surfaces of the bricks. 8. The bricks 1, 2 are in direct contact through their peripheral beads 10. The adhesive joint 3 is disposed on the lateral surface 11 facing outwards of the glass bricks 1, 2 in the plane of contact between the glass bricks 1, 2, surrounding the area of direct contact between the beads 10 of the front surfaces 8 of the hollow bricks 1, 2.

As shown that the figure 1 the adhesive joint 3 is disposed in a recess formed by the rounded edges 11a of the side surfaces of the bricks 1, 2. Of course, it could be provided that the side surfaces 11 are not provided on their rounded edges, to which however, the glue joint could be arranged on the side surfaces so that it connects the glass bricks.

Glass bricks 1, 2 are glass bricks of the standard type. The contact of the glass bricks by their frontal surface of vision and the arrangement of the glue joint on the lateral surface of the glass bricks 1, 2 makes it possible to connect the glass bricks 1, 2 by the glue joint to maintain them. so that they form a unit while avoiding interposing the glue joint between the front viewing surfaces of the glass bricks 1, 2, so that the glue joint is not traversed by the light. The glue joint is disposed beyond the frontal viewing surfaces 8 limited by the tops of the peripheral beads 10. Consequently, this glue joint does not oppose the passage of light and will not be altered by light over time. In addition, it may be noted that the front surfaces 8 of the glass bricks 1, 2 being provided with beads 10, there is formed between the glass bricks a cavity 13 filled with air to increase resistance to heat transmission of the set of glass bricks.

On the figure 2 , where references to elements similar to those of the figure 1 have been taken, a third hollow brick 14 contiguous to the second hollow brick 2 on the opposite side to the first hollow brick 1, the hollow brick 14 coming into contact with the top of a peripheral bead 10 with a frontal viewing surface 8 with a bead 10 of a front surface 8 of the second hollow brick 2 oriented on the opposite side to the first brick 1. The second brick 2 and the third brick 14 are connected together by an adhesive joint disposed on the lateral surfaces 11 of the second and third hollow bricks 2, 14.

There is obtained a set of glass bricks comprising three hollow glass bricks contiguous in the direction of the thickness of the element. In addition to cavities 4 hollow bricks, it is noted that it is formed of intermediate cavities 13, between the first and second hollow brick on the one hand, and between the second and third hollow brick, on the other.

The addition of an extra brick in the thickness direction increases fire resistance, burglar resistance and resistance to heat transfer. Of course, one could plan to stack a larger number of glass bricks.

On the figure 3 , where references to elements similar to those of figures 1 and 2 have been taken up, glass plates 15, 16 are interposed between the hollow bricks 1, 2, 14.

A first glass plate 15 is interposed between the first hollow brick 1 and the second hollow brick 2, a second glass plate 16 being interposed between the second hollow brick and the third hollow brick 14.

The glass plates have dimensions substantially equal to those of the front surfaces 8. The bricks 1, 2, 14 disposed on either side of a glass plate come into contact with the top of the peripheral beads 10 of their front surface. 8 on both sides of the walls of the interposed glass plate. An adhesive seal 3 is disposed on the side surfaces 11 of two glass bricks and a side surface of the interposed glass plate. In this way, the glue joint 3 surrounds the areas of direct contact between the glass blocks and the interposed plate while directly connecting the adjacent glass bricks. The glue joint 3 allows mutual maintenance of the glass bricks and the glass plate interposed between the glass bricks.

It will be noted that the interposition of a glass plate between two adjacent glass bricks whose frontal viewing surfaces are provided with peripheral beads makes it possible to form intermediate spaces 17 between the central portions 9 of the front viewing surfaces 8 and the plate of glass, in order to increase the burglary resistance of the set of glass bricks as well as the resistance to heat transfer.

Un adhésif est disposé sur la face de la bande 19 située du côté de la nervure centrale 20, de part et d'autre latéralement de la nervure centrale 20.The figure 4 represents a set of glass bricks similar to that of the figure 1 except that the adhesive seal is replaced by an adhesive tape 18 in the form of a strip 19 extending longitudinally in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the figure and provided on one side with a central longitudinal rib 20 An adhesive is placed on the face of the strip 19 located on the side of the central rib 20, on either side laterally of the central rib 20.

The adhesive tape 18 is placed on the glass bricks 1, 2 surrounding the lateral surfaces of the glass bricks at the level of the contact plane between the glass bricks 1, 2. In other words, the adhesive tape 18 comes into contact by an edge 18a with the outer surface 11 of the first glass brick 1 and by an opposite edge 18b with the lateral surface 11 of the second hollow glass brick 2. The adhesive tape 18 is centered so that the longitudinal rib 20 is substantially in the plane of contact between the hollow glass bricks 1, 2. The longitudinal rib 20 is projecting in a recess formed between the rounded edges 11a of the side surfaces 11 of the bricks 1, 2.

The adhesive tape makes it possible to hold the two glass bricks 1, 2 mutually so that they form a unit, while not opposing the passage of light through the set of glass bricks.

On the figure 5 , where references to elements similar to those of the figure 4 have been taken up, a third glass brick 14 is contiguous to the second glass brick 2 on the opposite side of the first glass brick 1 to form a set of three glass bricks stacked in the direction of the thickness of the whole of glass bricks.

The glass bricks 1, 2, 14 are connected two by two by adhesive tapes 18, an adhesive tape being bonded to the side surfaces 11 of adjacent bricks 1, 2, 14.

Tel que représenté sur la figure 5, un ruban adhésif 18 est dépourvu de nervure centrale et est recouvert sur toute sa surface orientée vers l'intérieur d'un adhésif 21.As shown on the figure 5 an adhesive tape 18 is devoid of a central rib and is covered over its entire inward facing surface with an adhesive 21.

On the figure 6 , where references to elements similar to those of the figure 5 glass plates 15, 16 are interposed between the glass bricks, similarly to the embodiment of the invention. figure 3 .

The adjacent glass bricks 1, 2, 14 are connected by an adhesive tape 18, one longitudinal edge of which is fixed on the lateral surface of one brick, the other longitudinal edge being fixed on the lateral surface of the other brick.

An adhesive tape 18 is provided with a longitudinal rib 20 projecting radially inwards and coming into contact with its free end opposite the band 19 with a side surface of the glass plate 15, 16 for holding a glass plate interposed between the two bricks.

On the figure 7 , where references to elements similar to those of the figure 4 have been taken up, the longitudinal rib 20 of the adhesive strip 18 is used to keep spaced two adjacent hollow glass bricks 1, 2.

Note that the rib 20 of the adhesive tape 18 has a thickness just sufficient to maintain spaced the first and second hollow bricks 1, 2 while not projecting directly between the front viewing surfaces of the hollow glass bricks 1, 2 so as not to oppose the passage of light through the glass bricks 1, 2. The rib 20 bears on the rounded edges 11a facing the side surfaces 11 of the bricks 1, 2, without being interposed directly between the tops of the peripheral beads 10 limiting the frontal surfaces of vision.

It could be expected that the band 19 has sufficient rigidity in the viewing direction A to keep the bricks 1, 2 spaced apart. To do this, we can use rigid rods covered on one side of an adhesive.

With the present invention, there is obtained a set of glass bricks comprising at least two glass bricks contiguous to form an assembly offering better resistance to heat transfer and burglary. The glass bricks are mutually held by means of connecting elements to not oppose the passage of light and to avoid alteration of these connecting elements with time due to light.
