- the center around which the backrest can move lies on the upholstery surface.
- Laterally and above and below the universal joint spring elements between backrest and backrest support are provided, e.g. Elastic polyester elements that exert spring forces both perpendicular and parallel to the backrest surface.
- Another chair with gimbaled backrest is known from EP 0935934 A.
- the gimbal bearing is achieved there by means of a circular cylindrical rubber-elastic element, on whose two end faces in each case a steel plate is vulcanized, which is connected to the backrest or the backrest support by screws. The user can thus move the back against the spring forces of the rubber-elastic element.
- the backrest support can still be pressed against a return spring to the rear.
- the upholstery On its user interface, the upholstery is basically rigid and kinked in the area of the rubber mount.
- this known chair has the advantage that the gimbal comprises fewer items, and thus is less expensive to produce. Due to the conventional design of the user interface of the backrest cushion but no optimal support of the user's back is achieved. Furthermore, the articulation of the backrest support to the chair column and the connection to a return spring is very expensive and thus cost-ineffective. Finally, it is also disadvantageous that the rubber-elastic bearing offers no tear protection: if the vulcanized to the rubber-elastic element panels should solve, the backrest falls from the backrest carrier.

- he has disadvantages in terms of seating comfort, because the backrest is actually suspended from the armrests, and, especially when the central spring member is provided so that only very limited meets the requirements of the user in terms of elastic support of the back.
- this component is an injection molded part made of a glass fiber reinforced polyamide plastic, preferably a Polyarylamid, and produced by gas injection technique (GIT), which can be produced largely hollow items.
- the backrest on the one hand can unfold the membrane optimal support forces for the back of the user, but on the other hand elegantly and technically inexpensive and stable causes a cardano-elastic connection between the back and backrest support.
- the invention also makes it possible, the backrest together with backrest support as a visible part, ie without special panel form, which not only reduces the number of items and thus the manufacturing costs, but also shapes the design and realized a high recognition value.
- the number of structural elements of the backrest according to the invention is reduced to a minimum, and thus expresses the manufacturing effort. Due to the largely hollow plastic parts a very low weight is achieved. However, the backrest according to the invention still has a whole a particularly high degree of stability, because a tearing off the back of the wearer under the influence of force is no longer possible due to the one-piece design. Furthermore, the backrest according to the invention has a very high rigidity and resistance to mechanical stress in the selected dimensions and the selected plastic.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of seating, in particular a backrest for an office chair, in which in a frame, a membrane is clamped.
It is known in office chairs to connect the backrest to the backrest support in such a way that it is able to follow as far as possible all movements of the back of the user. Technically, this means that the back is gimbal-mounted, so it is movable around the three spatial axes. Thus, it can follow sagittal movements of the back, ie movements about a horizontal axis parallel to the body, but also torsional and transverse movements, ie movements about the vertical axis or about a horizontal axis perpendicular to the body. Such combined upper body movements in three directions are very common in practice, for example, the handle side down in the drawer of a desk, or when turning to a conversation partner. Gimbals for chairs in chairs are also called "dorsokinetically flexible joints".
A chair of the kind described is e.g. from EP 0308538 A known. In this known chair, the cardanic bearing is achieved in that the backrest has a spherical segment-shaped formation, which is mounted in a second spherical segment-shaped formation on the backrest support. The center around which the backrest can move lies on the upholstery surface. Laterally and above and below the universal joint spring elements between backrest and backrest support are provided, e.g. Elastic polyester elements that exert spring forces both perpendicular and parallel to the backrest surface.
Although this known chair offers excellent seating comfort, but requires a certain effort in its manufacture.
Another chair with gimbaled backrest is known from EP 0935934 A. The gimbal bearing is achieved there by means of a circular cylindrical rubber-elastic element, on whose two end faces in each case a steel plate is vulcanized, which is connected to the backrest or the backrest support by screws. The user can thus move the back against the spring forces of the rubber-elastic element. In addition, the backrest support can still be pressed against a return spring to the rear. On its user interface, the upholstery is basically rigid and kinked in the area of the rubber mount.
Another chair of the type mentioned is known from DE 100 48 779 A1 (=
Although this chair offers a very high level of seating comfort, it is also relatively expensive to manufacture, and can also be further optimized with regard to the dorsokinetic support of the lumbar vertebral lordosis.
Finally, a chair is known from US 5,810,438 A, in which the back part, the seat part and the two armrests are integrally connected. As an option, a spring member is provided between the seat and back, which is also integrally connected to the seat and backrest. The known chair is an injection molded part, and is manufactured by gas injection technique (GIT).
The known chair has remarkable manufacturing advantages because the number of components and assembly steps are minimized. However, he has disadvantages in terms of seating comfort, because the backrest is actually suspended from the armrests, and, especially when the central spring member is provided so that only very limited meets the requirements of the user in terms of elastic support of the back.
It is therefore an object of the invention to develop a backrest of the type described in DE 100 48 779 A1 such that on the one hand the back of the user in all possible movements, be it sagittal, transversal or tordierend, optimal support offers, on the other hand, but still inexpensive to produce, especially for large quantities requires a minimum of manufacturing effort. Nevertheless, of course, a high stability of the construction in robust everyday operation should be guaranteed. Finally, the backrest according to the invention should also be aesthetically, under the criteria of industrial design, an optimal solution.
This object is solved by the features of
The essence of the invention is the idea of integrally connecting the frame with the backrest support, so run frame and backrest support as one-piece component, the two legs of the backrest support converge in a connector, and the connector smoothly and smoothly enters the lower cross bar of the frame , In this case, this component is an injection molded part made of a glass fiber reinforced polyamide plastic, preferably a Polyarylamid, and produced by gas injection technique (GIT), which can be produced largely hollow items.
With the construction according to the invention it is achieved that the backrest on the one hand can unfold the membrane optimal support forces for the back of the user, but on the other hand elegantly and technically inexpensive and stable causes a cardano-elastic connection between the back and backrest support.
The invention also makes it possible, the backrest together with backrest support as a visible part, ie without special panel form, which not only reduces the number of items and thus the manufacturing costs, but also shapes the design and realized a high recognition value.
Also, the number of structural elements of the backrest according to the invention is reduced to a minimum, and thus expresses the manufacturing effort.
Compared with the dorsokinetically flexible suspension of the backrest on an aluminum support, the backrest according to the invention has the further advantage that ergonomically desirable elastic support forces for the user's back are also contributed by the backrest support, while the aluminum support is rigid.

In contrast to the backrest known from DE 100 48 779 A1, in the backrest according to the invention described here, the vcm user-generated leaning force is not only taken up by the backrest frame, but also by the backrest support integrally molded. This increases the dorsokinetic support function of the back in an advantageous manner.
