Definitions
- the present invention relates to a hand tool usually called a bricklayer's peg, as described in the preamble of the claim 1.
- a hand tool usually called a bricklayer's peg, as described in the preamble of the claim 1.
- a peg is known from BE 1010202.
- the pegs are commonly used in the field of building, especially for formwork.
- FIG. 1 illustrates a conventional peg 1 which comprises a pin 2 and a valet arm 3.
- the assembled assembly is shown at Figure 1A, while Figure 1B shows the jack alone before assembly.
- the valet 3 has a first end 4 provided with a hole through 5 adapted to the outline of the pin 2 to allow the valet 3 to slide along the length of the pin, between the tip 6 and the head of hit 7 of it.
- the valet 3 is provided with a bearing surface 9 which, as illustrated in FIG. 1B, is advantageously provided with asperities in the form of pins.
- the through hole 5 of the valet 3 is square and fits the section of pin 2 which is also square and these two elements are assembled simply by threading the valet on the spit.
- the valet 3 can easily be made captive, by a slight deformation near point 6, which will prevent the valet from coming out, while the head 7 will prevent it from going out at the opposite end.
- the pegs are commonly used to perform formwork but find a lot of other uses like example for the installation of a window or for the construction of a wall in a room.
- the pegs serve as holding tools in place of a rule or clipboard 10 ( Figures 8, 9) which is intended to delimit the volume to pour concrete, for example in a wall concrete or breeze blocks.
- the object of the invention is a bricklayer peg, comprising a pin associated with a valet arm protruding from one side of the pin, the valet having a first end provided with a hole through the spindle contour to allow the valet to slide along the length of the spindle, between a point and a head of this, and a second end provided with a bearing surface to hold a piece such as a ruler against a surface in which pin was previously pressed on part of its length, characterized by the fact that said second end of the jack has a threaded through hole cooperatively receiving a rod threaded portion extending substantially parallel to the spindle and carrying said bearing surface at a first end, said pin being a twisted pin.
- FIG. 2 shows all the constituent elements of a peg according to one embodiment of the invention. It has a pin 12 associated with an arm forming a valet 13.
- the valet 13 is at a first (14) of its ends provided with a sleeve 15 defining a through hole 16 (see Figures 6 and 7) receiving pin 12.
- this hole 16 is a smooth hole adapted to the contour of the pin 12 to slide along the length thereof, between the tip 17 and the head 18 of the latter.
- Pin 12 is a twisted pin like this is illustrated in the figures and the through hole 16 is therefore a circular hole.
- the spindle preferably has a square section and presents ridges on its entire periphery from tip 17 to a relatively short section immediately below the head 18.
- the second end 19 of the valet 13 is provided with a second sleeve 20 defining a through hole 21 which is tapped and whose thread cooperates with the thread of a threaded rod 22 passing through the hole 21 and extending substantially parallel to the pin 12.
- This threaded rod 22 constitutes indeed a clamping member and carries for this purpose to a first (23) of its ends a surface support 24 intended to bear against a rule to be fixed on a area.
- this support surface 24 is arranged on a foot member 25 much wider than the end 23 of the rod 22 to increase the contact area and clamping.
- the foot 25 is connected to the first end 23 of the threaded rod 22 by a hinge ball joint 26.
- This articulation comprises a spherical connecting member 27 connected by an axis 28 to the first end 23 of the threaded rod 22 and placed in a recess forming a housing 28 on the upper face of the foot 25, which allows the threaded rod to be inclined relative to the plane of the surface against which the bearing surface 24 is applied.
- the spherical connecting member 27 is retained within the recess 28 by a simple crimping inward of the rim around the opening of the recess 29.
- the threaded rod 22 is at its second end 30 provided with a screwing handle 31 which in the illustrated example consists of a crossbar connected to the end 30 of the rod 22 so as to form with the latter a T-shaped element.
- a screwing handle 31 which in the illustrated example consists of a crossbar connected to the end 30 of the rod 22 so as to form with the latter a T-shaped element.
- many other variants of the handle can be envisaged.
- the threaded rod 22 advantageously has at least one flat part longitudinal axis 32 extending over its periphery and preferably over the entire threaded part of the rod to prevent the threads of the rod 22 respectively of the through hole 21 of the valet 13 are fouled by particles falling when using the peg.
- two longitudinal flats 32 are provided on the threaded rod 22 and arranged to extend in parallel planes to one another.
- the head 18 of the pin 12 has on its periphery a non-circular shape so as to cooperate with a shape adapted inside the through hole 15 of the valet 13, to the opening of this hole to the outside.
- the spindle and the valet can be secured in rotation so that the valet can do crank function to clear the spindle by a movement of screwing after use of the peg. So, removing the pin 12 is greatly facilitated by the fact that the pin is twisted so that a Unscrewing action is indeed obtained.
- the non-circular shape of the head 18 of the pin 12 can be illustrated in the figures be a square section form flaring towards outside and which cooperates with the wall of the hole 16 of the sleeve 15, this hole having at its outer end a shape that is at least partially complementary to the shape of the head 18 of the spindle 12.
- Figures 6 and 7 show how inclined incisions 33 were made at the outer end of the hole 16 to cooperate with the edges of the square shape of the head 18 of the spindle 12.
- the peg according to the invention operates as follows.
- the wall is a solid wall or hollow. Yes the wall is solid like a wall made of concrete or if it is stone, a hole approximately 8 cm deep must first be drilled into the wall to receive the pin 12 of the peg.
- the wall is hollow, for example composed of blocks or bricks, it suffices push the spindle to the desired location with a hammer.
- FIG. 8 illustrates the mounting of the peg 11 on a block hollow 34. It is in this case essential that the pin It is pressed far enough to cross two walls of the block, that is to say the wall 35 and at least one inner wall 36.
- rule 10 is placed at the desired place, eventually positioned with the help of a level, after which the valet can then be moved along the pin 12 until the support surface 24 to the end of the threaded rod 22 comes to rest against the rule.
- the surface 24 is then pressed against the ruler by screwing the threaded rod 22 to using the handle 31 until you obtain a good tightening of the ruler against the wall.
- the lever arm is important, that is to say that the sleeve 15 of the valet 13 should be relatively close to the head 18 of pin 12 when we start to screw the threaded rod 22.
- the valet is advantageously bent in a central zone.
