Hierbei ist, wie schon auf dem Trocknungsabschnitt 2 die eine Führungsleiste 26, 26' der Führungsvorrichtung 21, wenigstens eine in Förderrichtung F der Buchblöcke 13 ausgerichtete Reihe der Pressrollen 39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41' seitlich verstellbar ausgebildet. Zu diesem Zweck ist jeder Pressrollenreihe jeweils ein Pressrollenträger 42, 43 zugeordnet, der mit Ständern 44, 45 (siehe Fig. 1) eines Maschinengestells 46 verbunden ist. Die Ständer 44, 45 sind zur Abstützung der Kettenträger 4, 5 vorgesehen, die auch zur Befestigung der Pressrollenträger 42, 43 benutzt werden könnten. Gleichartige Ständer dienen übrigens auch zur weiteren Abstützung der Kettenträger auf dem Trocknungsabschnitt 2. Damit die Pressrollenträger 42, 43 unabhängig von den Kettenträgern 4, 5 quer zur Förderrichtung F verstellbar sind, sind sie an zwei die Ständer 44, 45 beidseits der Einrichtung 1 verbindenden Längsleisten 47 befestigt. Dies indirekt über jeweils zwei paarweise dazwischen angeordnete Lagerböcke 49, 49'; 50, 50', von denen jeweils einer auf einer die Lagerböcke 49, 49'; 50, 50' durchsetzenden Führungsstange 51, 52 quer zur Förderrichtung F der Buchblöcke mittels eines Spindelantriebs (nicht ersichtlich) verstellbar ist.
Die einzelnen Pressrollen 39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41' sind mit eigenen Verstelleinrichtungen 53, 53'; 53" ; 54, 54', 54" ausgebildet, von denen jeweils eine in Fig. 3 dargestellt ist. Bei Verstelleinrichtung 53 handelt es sich um eine pneumatisch betriebene Kolben-Zylinder-Einheit, deren Kolben 55 auf einen eine Pressrolle 39' am freien Ende aufweisenden Schwenkhebel 56 einwirkt, dessen Schwenklage gegenüberliegend durch eine von einer Druckfeder 58 gesicherten Einstellschraube 57 bestimmbar ist.
Selbstverständlich bietet diese Ausführung zur Einstellung die weitere Möglichkeit, die Pressrollen 39', 40', 41' dieser Reihe gemeinsam oder einzeln einzustellen.
Die gegenüberliegende Reihe sieht eine manuelle Verstellmöglichkeit der einzelnen Pressrollen 39, 40, 41 vor, bei der ein mit einem Lagerzapfen 59 einer Pressrolle 39, 40, 41 koaxial verbundener Sechskant 60 mit einer den Pressrollenträger 43 durchsetzenden Schraube 61 exzentrisch verbunden ist. Die Arretierung des Sechskants 60 wird wiederum durch die Zustellung einer mittels Feder 58 drehgesicherten Schraube 61 erreicht. Weitere Einzelheiten und alternative Ausführungen zu den Verstellvorrichtungen 53, 54 werden nicht beschrieben, da sie nicht wesentlicher Teil des hier beschriebenen Gegenstandes sind.
Die Pressrollen 39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41' können nicht nur über den/die Pressrollenträger 42, 43, sondern auch reihenweise federnd abgestützt sein. Die Pressrollen 39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41' sind, wie Fig. 3 zeigt, am Uebergang des Umfangs zur Stirnseite rechtwinklig ausgebildet; sie könnten zumindest am Uebergang von Umfang und der dem Buchblockrücken 13 abgewandten Stirnseite der Pressrolle gerundet resp. nicht scharfkantig ausgebildet sein. Bei der Verarbeitung feinerer Papierqualitäten könnte mit nicht scharfkantigen Kanten oder einer sich verjüngenden Kegelform am Umfang der Pressrollen 39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41' eine schonende Abpressung der Buchblockrücken 25 erzielt werden.

Dem vorderen Ende des Förderpfades 12 ist eine Zuführvorrichtung 67 zugeschaltet, welche die Buchblocks 13 der Einrichtung 1 zuführt. Die Zuführvorrichtung 67 ist aus dem Zuführband 18 und dem vorgeschalteten Förderband 68 gebildet. Letzteres kann die grössere Fördergeschwindigkeit aufweisen als das Zuführband 18, sodass die Buchblocks 13 lückenlos aneinandergereiht der Einrichtung zugeführt werden können.

  1. A conveying device (1) for the drying and pressing of glued backs of a book block (13) for books which, with backs (25) facing downwards, pass through a heated drying section (2) and a pressing section (3) acting on the flanks (24, 24') of the book block back (25) on which the back incline of the glued book block backs (25), provided if need be with a reinforcing strip, is reduced by pressing on the flanks (24, 24') of the book block back (25), characterised in that the book blocks (13) are conveyed to working ends (10, 11) of rotating traction elements (6, 7) and between the latter, with the flat sides clamped, pass through the heated drying section (2) and the pressing section (3) acting on the flanks (24, 24') of the book back (25) in this sequence.
  2. The device according to Claim 1, characterised in that the pressing section (3) downstream of the drying section (2) is directly adjacent to the former.

  4. The device according to any of Claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the drying section (2) is formed by heating elements (27) arranged beneath the traction elements (6, 7).
  5. The device according to Claim 4, characterised in that the drying section (2) is formed by a guide apparatus (21) arranged above the heating adjacent to the flanks (24, 24') of the book block back (25).
  6. The device according to Claim 5, characterised in that the guide apparatus (21) has two guide strips (26, 26') lying opposite one another, at least one of which is designed to be adjustable transversely to the direction of conveyance (F) of the book block (13).
  7. The device according to Claim 6, characterised in that the adjustable guide strip (26, 26') is connected to a number of adjusting apparatuses (29) arranged along the guide apparatus (21) and driveable by a common actuation apparatus (28).
  8. The device according to any of Claims 5 to 7, characterised in that the guide strip (26, 26') lying opposite the adjustable guide strip (26, 26') is supported flexibly in relation to a flank (24, 24') of the book block back (25).
  9. The device according to any of Claims 5 to 8, characterised in that the guide apparatus (21) has an extended entrance opening.
  10. The device according to any of Claims 5 to 9, characterised in that the guide apparatus (21) is fastened to chain carriers (4, 5) of the rotating traction elements (6, 7).
  11. The device according to any of Claims 4 to 10, characterised in that insulation (35, 35') protecting the guide and drive parts against heat is arranged above the heating elements (27).

  16. The device according to any of Claims 14 to 15, characterised in that a number of pressing roller pairs (39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41') are arranged one behind the other, as viewed in the direction of conveyance (F).
  17. The device according to any of Claims 14 to 16, characterised in that respectively at least one pressing roller (39, 39'; 40, 41'; 41, 41') of a pressing roller pair (39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41') is designed adjustably to change the roller spacing transversely to the direction of conveyance (F) of the book blocks (13).
  18. The device according to any of Claims 14 to 17, characterised in that the adjustable pressing rollers (39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41') of a number of pressing roller pairs (39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41') are designed to be adjustable individually or collectively.
  19. The device according to Claim 18, characterised in that the collectively adjustable pressing rollers (39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41') of a number of pressing roller pairs (39, 39'; 40, 40'; 41, 41') are mounted on a pressing roller carrier (42, 43).

  25. The device according to any of Claims 14 to 24, characterised in that the book block (13) stands on the pressing section (3) with the back (25) on a support (65).
  26. The device according to any of Claims 10 to 25, characterised in that the chain carriers (4, 5) have at least approximately the length of the drying (2) and pressing sections (3).
