Danach ist das Quertransportmittel freigesetzt für weitere Walzgutquertransporte, wobei der Manipulator alleine und selbsttätig das abgelegte Walzgut in seiner Querschnittslage einrichten, in das Kühlmedium zumindest teilweise einbringen, ausheben und für einen Transport zum Kühlbett bereitstellen kann. Diese erfindungswesentliche Trennung von Quertransport des Walzgutes auch über belegte Kühleinrichtungen hinweg mit letztlich einer Ablage am Kühlbett und ein genaues Einsetzen des Walzgutes in das Kühlmedium verbessert die Genauigkeit der Manipulation sowie der Abkühlbehandlung und führt zuverlässig zu gehärteten Walzprodukten mit konstant hoher Güte. Eine zweite Flüssigkühleinrichtung 32 steht in Bereitschaft.

Bei hohen Walzleistungen kann die Härteeinrichtung 3 auch mit mehr als zwei Flüssigkühleinrichtungen ausgeführt sei, allenfalls ist eine programmierbare Steuereinheit vorteilhaft für einen Fertigungsablauf einsetzbar.
