Diese Füllmaterial ist leicht und lässt sich extrem komprimieren, so dass bei Wahl eines leichten Hüllstoffes sich ein kleines Packmaß und ein geringes Gewicht ergeben. Die Luftmatratze 1 ist durch senkrecht angeordnete Stege 3, die oben und unten beispielsweise durch Verschweißen mit dem Hüllmaterial verbunden sind, in gleichmäßige Rippen unterteilt. Die Stege 3 dienen dazu, das Füllmaterial an Ort und Stelle zu halten. In der gezeigten Ausführung ist die Luftmatratze eine Einkammermatratze mit einem Ventil 4, so dass die Stege 3 aus einem luftdurchlässigen Material bestehen, um das Aufblasen und Ablassen von Luft zu ermöglichen. Vorteilhafterweise ist das Ventil 4 ein Sicherheitsventil mit einer Ausströmsicherung, das aber zum Veφacken geöffnet werden kann, bzw. um das Komprimieren zu erleichtern, sogar umgeschaltet werden kann, so dass Luft nur ausströmen, aber nicht wieder einströmen kann.
