Definitions
- the invention relates to an escalator or moving walk, according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method according to the preamble of claim 11.
- a generic escalator or a corresponding moving walkway is from the DE-OS 37 04 388 known.
- a rotating brush is provided, which is mounted on a brush bearing and should clean a step or pallet of the escalator or moving walk.
- the solution described in this document is intended in particular to clean the area of the vertical surfaces of the steps, wherein the cleaning is additionally to be supported by a suction hood.
- the rotating brush roller is guided with the steps and risers on the individual steps with the escalator standing, so that gradually the step belt can be cleaned.
- risers are usually very susceptible to contamination. While the fingers of the comb plate regularly engage in the grooves of the tread and allow partial cleaning, such measures are regularly not provided at risers. However, excessive contamination can impair the relative movement of adjacent stages and lead to incidents.
- the transitional area between tread and risers ie the leading edge of the escalator, is particularly sensitive. There, the webs of the riser go over into the step. In this area, the webs are supported only from below and laterally relatively unprotected.
- these areas are the first to engage in the operation concerned with the comb plates, which require that each groove is free laterally of the respective web.
- impurities - such as dry gum residues - can lead to breakage of the teeth of the comb plate or damage the tip of the web during engagement of the comb plate.
- roller brushes or other circulating cleaning brushes of the previously proposed cleaning devices for escalators Another disadvantage of the roller brushes or other circulating cleaning brushes of the previously proposed cleaning devices for escalators is that the roller bust is indeed able to clean the tread, but just the important leading edge - and the trailing edge - the tread usually cleans rather poorly. The transition area of the riser is not cleaned at all.
- the escalator according to the invention allows for the first time the cleaning of an escalator or moving walkway during operation of the escalator, so not only while the escalator or moving walkway rotates but, while the escalator or moving walkway transports passengers.
- the cleaning device acts below the upper step of the step or pallet strip, for example in the deflection region or in the region of the lower part of the step or pallet strip.
- the distance between the cleaning surface and the rotating brush can be controlled. This ensures that the rotating brush performs an intensive cleaning over the surface of the tread, but does not generate too high surface pressure in the region of the leading or trailing edge. If the brush was pressed purely spring loaded on the surface to be cleaned, the cleaning pressure in the region of the leading edge and the rear edge of the tread would be so high that there would be signs of wear and in particular the bristles of the rotating brush could be easily damaged by the existing there tips.
- a control keeps the distance between the surface to be cleaned and the brush constant, so that the staircase leading edge and leading edge can be gently but thoroughly cleaned.
- the step or pallet strip spreads automatically in the deflection region. This ensures that the brush is extra good at grasping the edges of the step. If necessary, it is also possible to additionally clean the risers, it being understood that this rapid - possibly motor assisted - movement of the brush bearing should be possible to allow rapid penetration and exit of the brush in the gap between two stages while the tier or pallet band is revolving.
- control disks are provided as controls, which are arranged laterally of the step or pallet belt and allow a surface-true guidance of the rotating brush.
- the materials to be reversed can be kept low, so that the rotating brush rests wear-resistant on the surfaces to be cleaned, it being ensured that the roller brush can follow the movements of the control disk quickly.
- the solution according to the invention offers the possibility of cleaning the escalator or moving walk even during the conveying operation.
- the cleaning device is housed in any case below the upper Trumes the stage or pallet band.
- Particularly suitable is one of the reversal points, in particular the lower reversal point, or at least that to which the drive motor for the step or pallet band is not provided.
- the step or pallet strip spreads so that the possibility of cleaning is given particularly well or intensively and the roller brush can follow the cleaning profile presented to her well.
- the distance guide of the roller brush can indeed be equipped with a pressure spring, but the adjustment of the distance is made via the control disk. This ensures that that the brush is not too strong at the edges and too little over the surface and thus uneven cleaning and wear effects.
- the Anyaksfeder so presses the roller brush not uncontrollably to the cleaning surface, but selectively controlled by the control disk.
- the drive disc for the control disc and roller brush can be driven by a chain or belt drive, which is actuated by a stationary drive motor.
- a pulley is then preferably arranged in the pivot axis of the brush bearing.
- the drive motor is flanged to the brush mounting, so that it is mitverschwenkt.
- the solution has the advantage that no driving forces are introduced into the brush holder, so that the control disk is less stressed.
- the drive motor for the roller brush is integrated in the brush itself.
- the brush is preferably formed on a hollow cylinder, in the interior of which sufficient space is provided for a correspondingly shaped electric motor.
- control disk is designed so that it rotates with the revolving step or pallet band, so the surface to be cleaned, and is taken away by them.
- control disc it is preferred to store the control disc on the shaft of the roller brush via a sliding or rolling bearings.
- the brush holder is provided on both sides of the revolving step or pallet band, with one or two control discs are provided if necessary.
- a connection of the two brush bearings is not required, while the use of a control disc a connection-rigid connection of both brush bearings is desired.
- the control can also be designed in any other configuration.
- a lever provided with a locating roller can adjust the distance between the surface to be cleaned and the roller brush, if necessary via a lever or other gear.
- the cleaning device is switched on periodically during the conveying operation.
- This solution combines good cleaning with low wear of the roller brush.
- a pull magnet is provided which lifts against the action of the pressure spring roller brushes of the surface to be cleaned, while the cleaning device is not working.
- the solenoid is released.
- An advantageous embodiment of this solution has two Elektomagnete and works with a locking device that can engage the cleaning device in the rest position when the pull magnet has lifted the roller brush from the surface to be cleaned. For the cleaning operation then only a short Elekromagnet must be actuated, which retracts the locking element and thus exposing the roller brush the action of the pressure spring.
- a cleaning device 10 shown has a preferably designed as a roller brush 12 circumferential brush, which is rotatably supported via a brush bearing 14 on a pivot lever 16 of a brush holder 18.
- the pivot lever 16 is in turn mounted on its pivot axis 20 on a frame-fixed support 22 of the escalator or moving walk.
- the carrier 22 is provided in the region of the lower reversal point 24 of the step or pallet band.
- three stages 26, 28 and 30 of an escalator are exemplified.
- the steps In the area of the reversal point 24, the steps each spread apart so that their leading edge 32 and their trailing edge 34 are each exposed. Also, the upper part of the riser 36 is exposed and can be cleaned according to the invention of the roller brush with.
- a control preferably in the form of a control disk 42, stored.
- the storage takes place in the illustrated embodiment via a rolling bearing, here a ball bearing 44, it being understood that any other bearings are also possible.
- the brushes of the roller brush 12 have a projection dimension 46 relative to the diameter of the control disk 42. With the choice of the projection dimension, so practically the choice of the diameter of the control disk 42, the cleaning effect of the roller brush can be adapted to the requirements. The larger the projection 46, the more intense the cleaning, but at the same time the wear of both the surface of the treads 48, the leading edge 32 and the trailing edge 34, as well as the bristles of the roller brush 12 itself.
- the shaft 40 is connected via a deflection gear 50 with a drive motor 52.
- the drive motor 52 is flanged directly to the brush support 18, and as close as possible to the pivot axis 20th
- the roller brush is provided with a row of bristles, which extends slightly spirally wound over the axial course of the brush and in which each row of bristles is mounted on a brush segment.
- This solution allows replacement of bristles depending on wear and need with little effort. It is particularly favorable according to the invention that it is possible to work with fairly low brush speeds, so that the wear is low despite intensive cleaning. For example, a drive of the roller brush at a speed of less than one revolution per second is possible; the cleaning direction is preferably selected against the running direction of the escalator.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to an escalator or moving walk, according to the preamble of claim 1 and a method according to the preamble of claim 11.
Evidence of the description should be preferred in the lowest Tread, so the lower comb plate to be started adjacent. When the top comb plate is reached, the escalator may need to be turned on again for further cleaning, and at each escalator, this tedious semi-automatic and semi-manual cleaning must be repeated three times to completely clean the step band.
However, there is no guarantee that the person responsible for the cleaning will not overlook areas of the step belt, so that a certain amount of care in the operation is necessary.
On the other hand risers are usually very susceptible to contamination. While the fingers of the comb plate regularly engage in the grooves of the tread and allow partial cleaning, such measures are regularly not provided at risers. However, excessive contamination can impair the relative movement of adjacent stages and lead to incidents.
For escalator steps, the transitional area between tread and risers, ie the leading edge of the escalator, is particularly sensitive. There, the webs of the riser go over into the step. In this area, the webs are supported only from below and laterally relatively unprotected.
On the other hand, these areas are the first to engage in the operation concerned with the comb plates, which require that each groove is free laterally of the respective web. There existing impurities - such as dry gum residues - can lead to breakage of the teeth of the comb plate or damage the tip of the web during engagement of the comb plate.
In order to reduce the damage tendency in the comb movement between tread and comb plate, it has also become known to soften by internal, mounted in the comb plate nozzles impurities, which has the advantage that the comb plate their coarse cleaning function - at least for certain contaminants - better perceive , However, such solutions are not suitable if water-insoluble impurities, such as the mentioned chewing gum residues, must be removed. In addition, the application of an aqueous cleaning fluid to the escalator causes the surface of the treads to become extremely smooth and should not be operated during the operation of the spray nozzles.
Another disadvantage of the roller brushes or other circulating cleaning brushes of the previously proposed cleaning devices for escalators is that the roller bust is indeed able to clean the tread, but just the important leading edge - and the trailing edge - the tread usually cleans rather poorly. The transition area of the riser is not cleaned at all.
It is therefore an object of the invention to provide an improved cleaning of escalators or moving walkways, which significantly reduces the maintenance costs of the escalator and the moving walk, without requiring particularly high investments.
This object is achieved by claim 1 and claim 11. Advantageous developments emerge from the subclaims.
Surprisingly, the escalator according to the invention allows for the first time the cleaning of an escalator or moving walkway during operation of the escalator, so not only while the escalator or moving walkway rotates but, while the escalator or moving walkway transports passengers.
According to the invention, it is particularly advantageous here if the cleaning device acts below the upper step of the step or pallet strip, for example in the deflection region or in the region of the lower part of the step or pallet strip. By controlling the invention, the distance between the cleaning surface and the rotating brush can be controlled.
In contrast, according to the invention, it is particularly advantageous if a control keeps the distance between the surface to be cleaned and the brush constant, so that the staircase leading edge and leading edge can be gently but thoroughly cleaned.
According to the invention, it is particularly favorable that the step or pallet strip spreads automatically in the deflection region.
According to the invention, it is particularly advantageous if control disks are provided as controls, which are arranged laterally of the step or pallet belt and allow a surface-true guidance of the rotating brush.
Due to the coaxial, transmission-free storage, the materials to be reversed can be kept low, so that the rotating brush rests wear-resistant on the surfaces to be cleaned, it being ensured that the roller brush can follow the movements of the control disk quickly.
For the first time, the solution according to the invention offers the possibility of cleaning the escalator or moving walk even during the conveying operation. For this purpose, the cleaning device is housed in any case below the upper Trumes the stage or pallet band. Particularly suitable is one of the reversal points, in particular the lower reversal point, or at least that to which the drive motor for the step or pallet band is not provided. In the area of the reversal point, the step or pallet strip spreads so that the possibility of cleaning is given particularly well or intensively and the roller brush can follow the cleaning profile presented to her well.
According to the invention, it is particularly favorable that the distance guide of the roller brush can indeed be equipped with a pressure spring, but the adjustment of the distance is made via the control disk. This ensures that that the brush is not too strong at the edges and too little over the surface and thus uneven cleaning and wear effects. The Andrucksfeder so presses the roller brush not uncontrollably to the cleaning surface, but selectively controlled by the control disk.
If the lowest possible moment of inertia of rotation is desired, the drive disc for the control disc and roller brush can be driven by a chain or belt drive, which is actuated by a stationary drive motor. In this solution, a pulley is then preferably arranged in the pivot axis of the brush bearing.
In a modified embodiment, the drive motor is flanged to the brush mounting, so that it is mitverschwenkt. The solution has the advantage that no driving forces are introduced into the brush holder, so that the control disk is less stressed.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, the drive motor for the roller brush is integrated in the brush itself. The brush is preferably formed on a hollow cylinder, in the interior of which sufficient space is provided for a correspondingly shaped electric motor. This solution also has the advantage that the assembly and, if necessary, the maintenance is much easier and thus the maintenance costs are reduced.
Preferably, the control disk is designed so that it rotates with the revolving step or pallet band, so the surface to be cleaned, and is taken away by them. In order to allow the desired relative to the cleaning effect relative speed between the roller brush and the surface to be cleaned without wear of the control disc, it is preferred to store the control disc on the shaft of the roller brush via a sliding or rolling bearings.
Preferably, the brush holder is provided on both sides of the revolving step or pallet band, with one or two control discs are provided if necessary. In the embodiment with two control discs, a connection of the two brush bearings is not required, while the use of a control disc a connection-rigid connection of both brush bearings is desired.
The control can also be designed in any other configuration. For example, a lever provided with a locating roller can adjust the distance between the surface to be cleaned and the roller brush, if necessary via a lever or other gear.
Preferably, the cleaning device is switched on periodically during the conveying operation. This solution combines good cleaning with low wear of the roller brush. For this purpose, it is preferred, a pull magnet is provided which lifts against the action of the pressure spring roller brushes of the surface to be cleaned, while the cleaning device is not working. During the cleaning operation, the solenoid is released. An advantageous embodiment of this solution has two Elektomagnete and works with a locking device that can engage the cleaning device in the rest position when the pull magnet has lifted the roller brush from the surface to be cleaned. For the cleaning operation then only a short Elekromagnet must be actuated, which retracts the locking element and thus exposing the roller brush the action of the pressure spring.

Preferably, the roller brush is provided with a row of bristles, which extends slightly spirally wound over the axial course of the brush and in which each row of bristles is mounted on a brush segment. This solution allows replacement of bristles depending on wear and need with little effort.
For escalators with direction reversal, it is preferable to reverse the drive speed of the roller brush depending on the direction of travel of the escalator, it being understood that the cleaning cycle can only be unlocked when the escalator is running in the desired direction.

- An escalator or moving walkway comprising a cleaning device that is fixedly installed in the deflection region of the escalator or moving walkway, said cleaning device acting upon at least the tread surface of a step or pallet of the escalator or moving walkway and cleaning the same and comprising a rotating brush that is supported on a brush bearing, wherein said cleaning device (10) is at least partially switched on during the conveying or maintenance operation of the escalator or moving walkway and comprises a control element by means of which the brush bearing (14) can be moved, and wherein the control element upon a movement of the step or pallet belt abuts thereon and thereby sets a substantially constant distance between the brush, in particular the brush bearing (14), and the area of the tread surface (48) that presently is to be cleaned,
characterized in that the control element comprises a lay-on roll (control cam 42) that runs freely during a movement of the step or pallet belt. - The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that the control element of the cleaning device (10) is connected to the brush bearing (14) via a lever or some other gears.
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the control element abuts on the surface of the tread surface (48) that is to be cleaned, in particular abuts thereon in a spring-loaded manner.
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the cleaning device (10) is in particular arranged in the area of the lower deflection of the step or pallet belt and cleans the steps or pallets during the spread or inclination thereof on the circulating belt.
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rotating brush is configured as a roller brush (12) that is mounted on a shaft (40), on which as well the control element is mounted, and in that the control element is configured as a control cam (42).
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the control element which is configured as a control cam (42), and the brush which is configured as a roller brush (12) are mounted on a common shaft and in that in particular the control cam (42) is supported on the shaft (40) in a freely rotatable manner.
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the rotary drive of the brush is an electric motor that may be switched on separately from the drive motor of the escalator or moving walkway.
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the cleaning device comprises a drive motor (52) for the rotating brush that may be periodically switched on during the conveying or maintenance operation of the escalator or moving walkway in order to implement a cleaning program, and in that a separation device is provided by means of which the brush may be periodically disengaged from the tread surfaces (48) during the conveying or maintenance operation, however during a time of non-cleaning.
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the rotating brush substantially extends across the entire width of the step or pallet belt and in particular comprises brush segments that extend across the run of the brush in a slightly spiral manner if regarded in the axial direction thereof.
- The escalator or moving walkway as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterized in that a control cam (42) is employed as the control element and that the cleaning effect of the roller brush may be set by a projecting degree of the roller brush relative to the control cam.
- A method for cleaning an escalator or moving walkway using a cleaning device that is fixedly installed in a deflection region of the escalator or moving walkway, said cleaning device acting upon at least the tread surface of a step or pallet of the escalator or moving walkway and cleans the same, said tread surface being cleaned with the aid of a rotating brush that rotates within a brush bearing, in particular rotates against the running direction of the escalator or moving walkway, wherein the rotating brush rotates during the conveying operation of the escalator or moving walkway and the brush bearing (14) via a control element may be moved during the conveying operation of the escalator or moving walkway, and wherein the control element that abuts on the brush bearing during the movement of the step or pallet belt, sets a substantially constant distance between the brush, in particular the brush bearing (14), and the area of the tread surface (48) that presently is to be cleaned, characterized in that the control element comprises a lay-on roll (control cam 42) that freely runs with the movement of the step or pallet belt.
