Description

Einrichtung zum elektrisch leitenden Kontaktieren eines abschnittsweise abisolierten Außenleiters einesDevice for electrically conductive contacting of a stripped outer conductor of a
Koaxialkabelscoaxial cable
The invention relates to a device of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 for the electrically conductive contact of a stripped outer conductor of a coaxial cable. EP 0 744 788 A1 discloses a device of the type in question which has a base body which is designed as a clamp which can be tensioned around the cable to be contacted, which is designed to be open in the circumferential direction and has angled tabs at its ends, on the surfaces of which facing one another in the assembly position, sealing surfaces are formed from elastic material, wherein the tabs can be connected to one another by means of screws in the assembly position of the device. In the known device, the base body has a band-shaped metallic clamp which is embedded in elastic material, a contact surface for a contact element for contacting the stripped region of the coaxial cable being left free on the side facing the body to be contacted.
A disadvantage of the known device is that when the device is mounted on the coaxial cable, the screws for tensioning the base body are tightened excessive force, the elastic material of the sealing surfaces on the tabs is compressed excessively and not defined, so that there is a risk that the elastic material is damaged and the sealing surfaces thereby lose their sealing effect.
The invention has for its object to provide a device of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1, which does not have the disadvantage of the known device, in which the risk that the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is excessively compressed when tightening the screws, is reduced.
This object is achieved by the teaching specified in claim 1.
The basic idea of the teaching according to the invention is to provide means for limiting the screwing-in path of the screw in such a way that the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is compressed in a defined manner when the screw is tightened. In this way, the elastic material of the sealing surfaces is reliably prevented from being excessively compressed when the screw is tightened and possibly being damaged in the process. Rather, the compression of the elastic material takes place in a defined manner, wherein the degree of compression can be selected in a simple manner by appropriately dimensioning the means for limiting the screw-in path and thus the maximum possible screw-in path. Due to the means provided according to the invention for limiting the screwing-in path, the installation of the device according to the invention is simplified and can therefore also be carried out easily by untrained personnel. The device according to the invention is simple and thus inexpensive to manufacture and robust in construction.
The means for limiting the screw-in path can be designed in any suitable manner according to the respective requirements, for example in that the thread of the screw ends at an axial distance from its head, so that the screw-in path is limited by the length of the thread.
An extremely advantageous development of the basic idea of the teaching according to the invention provides that the means for limiting the screw-in path are formed by a stop. This embodiment enables the screw-in path to be limited in a particularly simple manner.
According to the respective requirements, the stop can be arranged on the screw, in particular molded onto the screw, or the stop can be arranged on one of the tabs, in particular molded onto one of the tabs. In the embodiments in which the stop is integrally formed on the screw or on one of the tabs, an additional component is not required to form the stop, so that the structure of the device according to the invention is further simplified and more cost-effective.
A further development of the embodiment with the stop molded onto one of the tabs provides that the stop is formed by at least one projection which extends in the axial direction of the screw and which is arranged on the side of a tab facing the head of the screw in the mounting position, such that the head the screw comes to rest on the projection at the end of the screw-in path. In this embodiment, the projection can be formed, for example, by at least one nose or the like formed on the tab. Another development of the teaching according to the invention provides that the stop is formed by a disk or sleeve surrounding the shaft of the screw, which is arranged in the assembly position between the head of the screw and the facing tab. This embodiment has the advantage that standard components can be used both for the screw and for the washer forming the stop, so that the device according to the invention is also designed to be particularly simple and therefore inexpensive to manufacture in this embodiment.
The screw expediently extends in the assembly position of the device through a through hole which is formed in one of the tabs and is screwed into a threaded hole which is formed in the other tab.
If the base body of the device according to the invention consists of thin sheet metal, for example, in order to increase the stability and to achieve a sufficient depth, in particular the threaded hole, it is expedient for the tabs to have reinforcing elements, preferably made of metal, in which the bores are formed.
Eine Weiterbildung der Ausführungsform, bei der der Anschlag an die Schraube angeformt ist, sieht vor, daß die Schraube zwischen ihrem Kopf und ihrem mit einem Gewinde versehenen Ende einen gewindefreien Bereich aufweist, dessen Durchmesser größer als der Durchmesser des Gewindes ist, derart, daß eine Schulter gebildet ist, wobei der Durchmesser der Durchgangsbohrung in derA further development of the embodiment in which the stop is molded onto the screw provides that the screw has a thread-free area between its head and its threaded end, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the thread, such that a Shoulder is formed, the diameter of the through hole in the
Tab corresponds to the diameter of the screw in the area of the shoulder or is larger than this, such that the axial end face of the shoulder in the screw-in position on the surface of the other face facing this tab rests on the tab.

In Fig. 1 a first embodiment of a device 2 according to the invention is shown, which has a flexible base body 4 designed as a clamp, which in this embodiment is formed in one piece and open in the circumferential direction and has angled tabs 6, 8 at its free ends, which in Mounting position can be connected to each other in a manner explained in more detail below by screws, not shown in FIG. 1.
The base body 4 has a band-shaped metal part 10 and a part 12 made of elastic material, in the exemplary embodiment an elastomer, in which the metal part 10 is embedded with its axial edges and is thus connected to the part 12 made of elastic material (FIG. 4). The metal part 10 extends in the circumferential direction into the tabs 6, 8 and is reinforced in this area for stabilization with plate-shaped reinforcing elements 5, 7 made of metal, which can be welded to the metal part 10, for example. Threaded bores 9, 11 and through bores 13, 15 are formed in the lug 6, and through bores 13, 15 in the lug 8, in order to accommodate screws not shown in FIG. 1, by means of which the lugs 6, 8 in the assembly position are interconnectable.
From Fig. 1 is not apparent and therefore it is explained here that the mutually facing surfaces of the tabs 6, 8 in the mounting position are provided with an elastic material, for example an elastomer, so that sealing surfaces are formed which seal in the mounting position of the device 2 together issue.
The part 12 made of elastic material forms sealing lips 14, 16 on the side facing a coaxial cable to be contacted and, in this exemplary embodiment, in the axial direction outside of the sealing lips 14, 16 further sealing lips 18, 20. Screw 52, while its threaded end 58 can be screwed into the threaded bore 9.
When the screw 52 is screwed into the threaded bore 9, the tabs 6, 8 are clamped to one another, the elastic material of the sealing surfaces designated by reference numerals 62, 64 in FIG. 6 being compressed. When a maximum screw-in path determined by the axial distance of the axial end face of the shoulder 61 from the free end of the screw 52 is reached, the end face of the shoulder 61 reaches the tab 8 on the side of the reinforcing element 7 facing the tab 6 in a defined manner in the manner of a stop System so that further screwing in of the screw 52 and thus further compression of the elastic material 62, 64 of the sealing surfaces is prevented.
Eine übermäßige Zusammendrückung ist somit zuverlässig verhindert .The screw-in path of the screw is limited by the stop, so that the degree of compression of the elastic material is also limited. Excessive compression is thus reliably prevented.
The degree of compression can be selected by the axial distance of the axial end face of the shoulder 61 from the free end 66 of the screw 52. 7 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a stop for limiting the screwing-in path. In this exemplary embodiment, the stop is formed by lugs 68, 70, which are punched out of the reinforcing element 5 and thus molded onto the tab 8. The lugs 68, 70 protrude axially over the reinforcing element in the direction of the head of a screw, not shown.
The tabs 6, 8 are connected with only one screw, so that the tab
