Abstract

A device, designed to be used in horse riding, includes hand grips linked to a collar enclosing a horse's neck. The hand grips are compact and do not hinder the use of reins, the element linking the hand grip to the collar partly consists of an elastic and the collar is fixed midway on the neck so as to allow the hands translational and lateral freedom. The device enables to avoid faulty handling on the experienced rider's part, enables the beginner to find the right balance and controls the horse's mouth.

Description

La présente invention concerne un dispositif, destiné à être utilisé en équitation, composé de poignées reliées à un collier passé autour de l'encolure d'un cheval (voir DE 29 09 113 A).The present invention relates to a device for use in riding, consisting of handles connected to a collar passed around the neck of a horse (see DE 29 09 113 A).

The device will prevent the "hands mistakes" of the confirmed rider, assist the novice rider in his search for balance and preserve the mouth of his horse.

The present invention relates to a device according to claim 1 for facilitating the practice of riding by acting on the fixity and independence of the hands.

The independence of the helpers (the plate, the legs, the hands) is an essential notion of riding. The use of the saddle is to facilitate the control of the plate, stirrups facilitate the control and thus the independence of the legs.

Traditionally, to assist the control of his hands the rider has two methods: hold on to the mane of the horse or cling to a collar passed around the neck of the horse. These two methods Empirical are restrictive: they improve fixity but prohibit the independence needed to steer the horse.

The device of the invention comprises a handle of a length equivalent to the width of three fingers (annular, major, index) connected to a collar passed around the neck of the horse. This handle has the rigidity to withstand significant pressure (depending on the strength and weight of the rider) and the finesse necessary to not interfere with the use of reins. The fingers are closed on this handle and the reins. The handle is in direct contact with the fingers at the level of the third phalanx, the reins are superimposed on the handle in passing as is the practice of academic riding between the ring finger and the little finger and the index finger and the thumb . The handle is attached to the collar with a first clip attached to the handle between the ring finger and middle finger. This attachment allows the use of the handle without interfering with the use of the reins. This first attachment is connected to an elastic itself connected to the collar via a second adjustable fastener attached to the collar at mid-neck. The elastic allows an action in translation. The mid-neck attachment and the length of the straps and elastic allow lateral action of the hand. This mid-neck attachment can be adjustable to fit the size of the horse and rider. A system of two clips is attached to the collar a few centimeters below the level of the withers to allow the rider to attach the handles. These clips hold the handles in such a position that it allows the rider to grab the handles quickly with a simple gesture. A carabiner system with quick coupler is sewn on the collar about three centimeters below the clips. This carabiner allows to quickly and directly attach the handle attachment to the collar. Using this attachment means the rider can use the handles secured with the collar. The handles may include means of distinction corresponding to the flags around the obstacles: red for the right handle, white for the left handle. The collar is adjustable and can be attached to the strap and saddle for support.

With reference to the appended FIG. 1 - schematic view - we will describe the particular embodiments:
  • The handle (1) can have a length equivalent to the width of three fingers
  • The handle (1) can be made of steel and covered with a piece of leather
  • The attachment of the handle (2) can, through a seam system, be an extension of the leather piece used to cover the handle (1).
  • This fastener (2) can have a length of 3 cm
  • A ring can be sewn at the end of the handle attachment
  • The elastic (3) can be attached to the ring of the handle with a carabiner
  • The elastic (3) can have a length of 6 cm
  • The elastic (3) can be provided at its other end with an eyelet (4) which will allow the fastening strap to pass to the collar (5)
  • The tie between the elastic and the collar (6) can be a leather strap (5) of 40 cm sewn on the collar about 20 cm below the level of the withers, adjustable thanks to the eyelet of the elastic (4 ) in which it passes and a conventional loop system (7) sewn on the collar
  • Passers (8) can be provided on the collar to channel the overflow of the leather strap (5)
  • Two clip holders for the handles can be sewn on the collar 15 cm above the fastening of the fastening strap (9).
  • Carabiners with quick couplers (10) can be sewn on the collar approximately 3 cm below the clip holders (9).

The reduced size of the handle is such that it allows the use of reins without particular discomfort. The resistance of this handle and collar link allows the rider to use this handle to maintain its position and keep the hands "in place" in all circumstances. The use of a elastic allows the rider to have an action on the mouth of his horse, deliberately limited action thanks to the resistance of the elastic.

According to a variant not shown, the handles can be attached to a bricolage instead of the collar.

By way of non-limiting example the handle will have a length of 4 cm, a width of 1 cm and a thickness of 0.5 cm. The leather strap attached to the handle will have a length of 3 cm, the elastic a length of 6 cm and the leather strap attached to the collar a length ranging from 2 to 20 cm depending on the setting.

All riding practices are likely to benefit from this invention.

A long adjustment of the device will help the rider in sitting position, whether a beginner or confirmed rider.

A short adjustment makes it possible to assist a rider in the so-called "suspended" position, more particularly during the practice of jumping.

The use of the handles fixed on the quick fasteners of the collar will allow the rider to quickly obtain a use of the handles close to the use of a conventional collar with the comfort that brings the use of the handle.

The device will prevent the "hands mistakes" of the confirmed rider, assist the novice rider in his search for balance and preserve the mouth of his horse.
