Description

Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft einen Helm. The present invention relates to a helmet.

The sports industry has developed specially adapted helmet types for different sports. For example, particularly light helmets are preferred for bicycle sports, on the one hand take into account the physical effort and on the other hand are tuned to the lower risk of injury compared to motorcycling. In the field of skiing such helmets are usually made more robust, which is particularly related to the increased speed and the lower temperature load for the driver. Motorcycle helmets usually offer the highest possible safety standard.

On the one hand, for the buyer of such helmets, on the one hand, this brings the advantage of a product which is optimally tailored to his needs, but this leads to a considerable cost burden for users who carry out different sports, if they want the optimum helmet for each sport practiced. A helmet suitable for various sports is known from WO-A-94/00031.

Due to the reflexive turning away of the head in case of frontal impact force, falls with frontal impact are on the side. As a rule, a side impact is more likely to happen.

It is the object of the present invention to provide a helmet that can be used for different sports and protects the head as well as possible.

This object is solved by the subject matter of claim 1. Preferred embodiments are the subject of the dependent claims.

According to the invention, therefore, the helmet according to the invention, seen from above, has a shape that approximates a rectangle. This results in the greatest possible distance between the impacted helmet point and the head of the wearer upon impact.

In addition, this angular shape provides more protection in a fall, since the impact zone of the helmet is protected in the region of the corners by more deformable inner material, preferably elastomer.

Further, the present invention is based on the finding that it is possible to provide different types of helmet starting from a basic version by attaching additional components to the basic version.

The basic version may in particular be a type of bicycle helmet having a fastening device to which a helmet extension can be attached. This helmet extension can be a typical bicycle helmet be converted into a helmet, as is usual in the field of skiing. It is also possible to convert to a jet helmet, as is customary in motorcycle racing. Also, the corresponding helmet extensions themselves may in turn have fastening devices for further helmet extensions, so that the aforementioned ski helmet can be converted by an additional extension into a motorcycle helmet.

Preferably, an extended helmet does not differ from a corresponding special model. In other words, the fastening devices and components are designed such that it is no longer recognizable after the attachment that the present helmet actually consists of several components. In particular, the transitions between the individual parts are form-fitting.

With reference to the preferred embodiments shown in the accompanying drawings, the invention will be explained in more detail below. Similar or corresponding details are provided in the figures with the same designations. Show it:
  • 1 is a schematic representation of a helmet according to a preferred embodiment,
  • 2 is a schematic representation of another embodiment of the helmet according to the invention without visor and helmet extensions,
  • Fig. 3 is a schematic representation of another embodiment of the helmet according to the invention.

The helmet shown essentially consists of a base shell 101 to which one or more modular helmet extensions 102 are releasably attached via a fastening mechanism 103.

The helmet according to the invention can be worn with or without helmet extensions 102. By means of the modular helmet extensions 102, the head surface protected by the helmet can be enlarged and adapted to the desired purpose of use.

In a preferred embodiment, the helmet extensions consist of U-shaped protectors which protect the ear and cheek area of the head and are releasably secured laterally to the base shell 101 in the fastening device 103. According to a further embodiment, these U-shaped cheek parts can be supplemented with a chin guard to additionally protect the chin area. For this purpose, a chin guard is detachably fixed by means of a further fastening device on the cheek parts. According to a further embodiment it is provided that the cheek parts are integrated in the chin guard and thus a one-piece helmet extension is attached to the base shell in order to protect both the chin area and the ear and cheek area.

According to a preferred embodiment of the helmet, the fastening device 103, in which the helmet extensions 102 are fastened to the base shell 101, is located approximately in the temporal region of the head on both sides of the helmet and, according to a particularly preferred embodiment, consists of a detachable detent or plug connection.

Die Helmerweiterungen schließen dabei formschlüssig mit der Grundschale ab.Preferably, two locking tabs are attached to the tops of the helmet extensions 102 in the latching connection. In the base shell 101 locking elements with push buttons are integrated at the corresponding positions, by means of which the latching connection can be solved. The recesses for receiving the locking tabs are integrated in the base shell 101 in such a way that the function and design of the helmet is not impaired both when the helmet extensions 102 have been removed and when the helmet extensions 102 have been removed. The helmet extensions close thereby form-fitting with the base shell.

In a further embodiment of the helmet according to the invention, the helmet extension with integrated or attached chin guard is e.g. hooked on a locking lug in the fastening device 103 and fixed on locking tabs in the locking elements on the base shell. By pressing the push buttons on the locking elements, the helmet extension can be solved or folded up.

According to a preferred embodiment of the helmet, a chinstrap 105 is fixedly connected to the base shell 101. The pivot points for the chin strap 105 are located in the region of the attachment mechanism 103 on the inside of the helmet. This makes it possible that the helmet can be attached with or without cheek parts 102 on the chin strap 105 at the head of the helmet wearer. For this purpose, the chin strap has a device for opening and closing the belt.

In the front area of the base shell 101 of a preferred embodiment of the helmet, a visor 106 is attached. The visor 106 extends over the entire front of the helmet from the left to the right fastening device. The shape of the visor 106 is selected such that the lower edge of the visor ends above the nosepiece of the helmet wearer and covers the entire eye area by the curved shape of the lower edge.

According to a preferred embodiment of the helmet, the visor 106 is retractable in a cassette which is mounted between the inside of the base shell 101 and the shock-absorbing inner lining of the helmet. The cassette is adapted to the inner shape of the base shell and kept very narrow to ensure the comfort of the helmet. The visor 106 can be lowered via a locking mechanism or folded completely into the cassette.

According to a further embodiment, the visor 106 is releasably attached, preferably via a latching or plug connection, to the base shell 101.

According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the helmet extension 102 for the cheek area has a U-shape, into which an ear protection 104 can be integrated into the recesses. The earmuff 104 preferably has a shell shape, is raised toward the outside outer edge, and inclined to the ear canal of the helmet wearer's ear to direct the sound waves into the center of the ear. However, the ear protection can also be replaced by a perforated or perforated cover, which can be clad both inside and outside with preferably breathable and wind-repellent fabric.

According to a preferred embodiment of the helmet, the inside of the base shell 101 and the helmet extensions 102 is lined with shock-absorbing material, as is the case with commercially available helmets. This ensures both the comfort and the necessary protection of the head in case of violence.

The base shell 101 may include one or more typically elongated air openings 107 at the top of the base shell 101. They serve the air circulation in the helmet as well as the weight reduction. To ensure the necessary rigidity and stability of the base shell, the base shell is reinforced with elongated struts.

The air vents may be obscured or left open by the shock-absorbing inner lining of the helmet. Preferably, therefore, the shock-absorbing inner lining of breathable and wind-repellent material. According to another embodiment, the shock-absorbing inner lining of the helmet is recessed in the area of the air openings 107, but the air openings 107 are covered by a breathable and wind-repellent fabric to ensure efficient air circulation in the helmet and to protect the head of the helmet wearer from unnecessary draft ,

According to a particularly preferred embodiment, the helmet is provided with additional longitudinal edges in those areas of the helmet which are identified as typical impact zones in a fall.

Fig. 2 shows a preferred embodiment of the helmet with removed helm extensions and removed or sunken visor 106. In addition, the illustration illustrates the position of the articulation points of the chinstrap 105 in the region of the attachment mechanism 103. The base shell 101 is in the region of the attachment mechanism 103 of the cheek parts 102nd designed such that it has a sufficiently large recess for the ears of the helmet wearer with removed helmet extensions 102.

Fig. 3 shows a further embodiment of the helmet, in which the air openings of the helmet remain recessed in the inner lining of the helmet. This allows a corresponding air circulation, as is desired in typical outdoor sports in the summer.

As mentioned, an essential feature of the helmet according to the invention is the modularity and the extended use range of the helmet which can be achieved thereby. This can be used for both summer and winter sports as well as motorcycle helmet. The protective function of the helmet can be adapted to the respective purpose of use as well as to the climatic conditions of the different seasons. The modular concept allows in particular, the conversion of a typical bicycle helmet into a ski helmet and by adding a chin strap in a motorcycle helmet.

In a summer version (indicated by FIG. 2 or FIG. 3), the helmet resembles a bicycle helmet. The removed cheek parts 102 and the air openings 107 allow the necessary comfort. Breathable materials allow the helmet to be worn even in warmer temperatures and more strenuous sports.

In a winter version (indicated by FIG. 1), an additional lining may be mounted in the helmet which covers the air openings of the helmet to protect the head from frostbite. The preferred material for this is breathable and windproof and can e.g. made of GoreTex®. Thus, the helmet according to the invention is also suitable for various uses in winter sports.
