Claims (10)

  1. An installation for conditioning a sheet of moulding material on bobbins at the output of a machine for producing sheet moulding material, comprising:
    - at least two locations (15, 15') for positioning bobbins (14, 14') onto which the said sheet (2) is to be wound, the said locations succeeding one another in a substantially horizontal direction (X-X'),
    - a carriage (20) formed by a main frame (20A) and a secondary frame (20B), provided with rollers (22) for guiding the said sheet and movable in a translational motion (F4), in the said direction, between a first position (Figure 1) which is located substantially above a first location (15) and a second position (Figure 2) which is located substantially above the second location (15'), and vice versa, characterised in that the said main frame (20A) and the said secondary frame (20B) are able to slide with respect to one another parallel to the said horizontal direction (X-X').
  2. An installation according to Claim 1, characterised in that the said carriage (20) is equipped with a device (27) for driving the said sheet (2), the said device being movable, in a manner concomitant with the operation of means (25) for cutting off the said sheet, between a position (Figure 5) in engagement with the said sheet and a position (Figure 4) in which it is disengaged from the said sheet.
  3. An installation according to Claim 2, characterised in that the said device comprises a frame (271) which supports a motor-driven roller (272) and a following roller (273), the said rollers each being centred on an axis which is substantially perpendicular to the direction (F1, X-X') in which the sheet (2) advances and being circled by a drive belt (275), while the said frame is articulated to the carriage about an axis (Y27) which is substantially perpendicular to the said direction, between a first position (Figure 5) in which the said belt is in contact with the said sheet and a second position (Figure 4) in which the said belt is moved away from the said sheet, and vice versa.
  4. An installation according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the said carriage (20) is equipped with a cutting device (26) mounted on a frame (261) which is articulated to the carriage about an axis (Y26) which is substantially perpendicular to the direction (F1, X-X') in which the said sheet (2) advances.
  5. An installation according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the said carriage (20) is equipped with a terminal guidance device (25) which extends, in the configuration in which the said carriage is used, from the said carriage in the direction of a bobbin (14, 14') as it is being filled, the said guidance device being articulated to the carriage about an axis (Y25) which is substantially perpendicular to the direction (F1, X-X') in which the said sheet (2) advances.
  6. An installation according to at least one.of the preceding claims, characterised in that the said main frame (20A) and the said secondary frame (20B) are equipped with rollers (22) which allow the said sheet (2) to be supported during its advance movement (F1).
  7. An installation according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the said carriage (20) is capable of being displaced into a standby position (Figure 8) in which it does not interfere with the path of advance (F1) of the said sheet (2).
  8. An installation according to at least one of the preceding claims, characterised in that each bobbin (14; 14') is mounted in a main support (16, 16') in which it is capable of resting, by means of the peripheral edges (144) of its end plates (143), on stopping blocks (162), while the said main support can be placed (F6) on an auxiliary support (17, 17') provided with rollers (173) able to lift the said edges in relation to the said blocks when the said main support is placed on the said auxiliary support.
  9. An installation according to Claim 8, characterised in that each auxiliary support (17, 17') is equipped with wheels (174) which allow it to slide in a direction (Y1-Y'1, Y2-Y'2) which is substantially perpendicular to the direction (F1, X-X') in which the said sheet advances.
  10. A method of conditioning a sheet of moulding material on bobbins at the output of a machine for producing sheet moulding material, characterised in that it consists in using two types of bobbin (4, 4', 14, 14') of different diameters at the output of the said machine (1), depending on the quantity of material to be wound on, in that
    - when bobbins (4, 4') of relatively small diameter are used
    - they are supported by a rocker (5) arranged opposite the output zone of the said machine,
    and in that
    - when bobbins (14, 14') of relatively large diameter are used
    - a bobbin capable of being rotated (R) is installed (F2), in at least one of two locations (15, 15') for positioning bobbins (14, 14') downstream of the said rocker in a direction (X-X') in which the said sheet advances;
    - a movable carriage (20), which is provided with guidance rollers (22) on or against which the said sheet (2) has previously been arranged, is arranged substantially above the said bobbin,
    - the said sheet is driven (F5) from the said carriage in order to displace the front edge of the said sheet until it comes into contact with the mandrel (14a, 14'a) of the said bobbin;
    - the said bobbin is rotated (R) until the desired quantity of material is wound on;
    - the said sheet is cut in the vicinity of the said carriage; and
    - the said carriage is displaced (F4) until it is above the second location in which a second bobbin has previously been installed.
