Definitions
- the invention relates to a calender for smoothing a Fibrous web with a nip passing through a roller and a circumferential jacket band is formed, which with With the help of a support element arrangement in a predetermined Circumferential portion is pressed against the roller, wherein the web is led through the nip.
- Such a device also known as a "shoe press” can be referred to is known from EP 0 586 482 B1.
- This device is used in the known case Dewatering a paper web, d. H. the paper web is running between two felt ribbons through the nip. By the increased Pressure in the nip turns the water out of the paper web displaced and included in the felts.
- the nip of such a shoe press has one Nip, which is formed between two rollers, the Advantage that the surface pressure is lower, the dwell time but the train is higher. This ensures that the volume of the web does not decrease as much as in a nip that is formed between two rollers. An attempt has therefore been made to use such a shoe press to use to smooth the surface of the web, where these attempts have so far not always been successful.
- the invention has for its object the surface quality to improve the web.
- This task is performed on a calender of the type mentioned at the beginning Kind solved in that the roller is heated and a thermally conductive auxiliary tape between the web and the roller is passed through the nip, which after the Exit from the nip over a predetermined distance is led to the train.
- the heated roller carries heat to the web to what has a positive effect on the smoothness. From one certain temperature becomes the surface of the web plasticized so to speak, so that the surface of the Auxiliary tape is stamped on the surface of the web.
- the auxiliary band more precisely the design its surface, you can already see a certain Influencing the surface quality of the web.
- the auxiliary tape also has another one Effect: if you hot the train directly on the Roller can rest, then the web is exited of the nip lifted off the hot surface.
- the coat band can be designed in different ways.
- a One option is to use a relatively stiff one Coat that is elastic enough to conform to the curvature adapt to the roller, but otherwise practical rotates like a roller. This coat can be front be provided with washers.
- Another possibility is the use of a less rigid band, which is carried out in one revolution via support rollers, whereby the pulleys practically define a polygon. Such a band can also be relatively thin.
- cooling device behind the nip arranged, which acts on the auxiliary band. You can use it shorten the distance over which the auxiliary strap lies must be guided on the track. The cooling device must just be able to set the temperature of the web as far lower that steam in the train can condense again.
- the cooling device on the Side of the auxiliary belt acts on the roller.
- the cooling device works through, so to speak Auxiliary band through. Because the auxiliary tape has good thermal conductivity is, the heat from the roller through the auxiliary belt has been transmitted through to the web at Pass the cooling device in the opposite direction Direction to be transported. This is a relative one easy way to run the web through the auxiliary belt to cool.
- the auxiliary belt Heating device arranged in front of the nip.
- the tape will cooled when or after leaving the nip so that the moisture in the web can condense again.
- the auxiliary belt has then circulated and wants to enter the nip again, it has accordingly a relatively low temperature.
- Through the Heating device can be the temperature of the auxiliary belt lift so that the smoothing result is improved.
- the heating device on the side of the auxiliary belt facing the web acts. Then heat does not have to penetrate the auxiliary band. The Heat losses are accordingly lower, so that a larger amounts of heat are released to the web can.
- the auxiliary band is preferably a metal band, in particular Steel band, trained.
- Metals have in the Usually good thermal conductivity, which can be matched with a relatively high strength pairs. This is particularly so the case with a steel belt. Beyond that it is possible, with a metal band a very smooth surface to generate the positive on the smoothness of the Track affects. However, a material should be included here the smallest possible coefficient of thermal expansion to get voted.
- the auxiliary band is preferably opposite Side of the web behind the nip over a predetermined Stretch covered by a tape. If the train in the nip has a relatively high dwell time, then not only warms the surface against the hot roller, rather, the web takes an elevated temperature overall so that it can be assumed that the moisture converted into steam throughout the train becomes. If the web leaves the nip, then there is also on the side of the web facing away from the roller, the danger that the steam escapes there. This danger can you encounter when you see the other side of the train covers a predetermined distance with a vapor impermeable tape so that the steam is on is included on both sides.
- the band through the jacket band is formed. This is a relatively simple constructive one Solution. You have to put the coat tape after the nip just run a certain distance so that the train held between the jacket band and the auxiliary band becomes. The extension of the coat band can be done with perform relatively little effort.
- the band is formed by a sheath auxiliary band which passed between the jacket tape and the web through the nip is.
- a sheath auxiliary band which passed between the jacket tape and the web through the nip is.
- the coat auxiliary band you have that Possibility of the surface of the web that the coat band facing other properties, in particular in terms of smoothness, than convey this with the surface of the jacket tape would be possible.
- a second cooling device is preferably provided, that acts on the tape.
- the second cooling device contributes to an even faster cooling of the web, so that the route can be kept short in the the tape lies against the web.
- the support element arrangement preferably has a plurality of arranged one behind the other in the circumferential direction of the roller Support shoes on. So the train gets at Going through the nip a series of pressure surges and every time they are in a range between a support shoe and the roller comes. This promotes the Smoothing the web further.
- a steam application device is advantageously in front of the nip arranged, the steam on the web facing Side of the auxiliary belt and / or on the web applying.
- the steam leads to an increase in moisture and temperature, at least on the surface the train. This has a positive effect on the smoothing of the Surface of the web.
- the smoothing discussed here can also be called "satin".
- a calender 1 for smoothing a web of fibrous material, especially a paper or cardboard web (dash-dotted shown) has a heated roller 3, the with not shown, but known per se Means is heated.
- Heating for example Liquids such as water or oil, or steam are used become. Radiant or electrical heating or magnetic fields are also possible.
- the roller 3 forms together with a circumferential jacket band 4 a nip 5 that extends over almost half The circumference of the roller 3 extends.
- a series of support shoes 6 are so along the circumferential direction of the roller 3 arranged that the jacket band 4 against the roller 3rd to press.
- the support shoes have a convex pressure surface 7, the curvature of the curvature of the roller 3 adapted is.
- Lubricants are provided in the pressure surface 7, for example openings from which hydraulic oil can escape under pressure to create a lubricating film between to form the coat band 4 and the support shoes 6.
- the sequence of support shoes 6 results in Nip 5 zones with higher pressure and zones with lower Pressure so that the web 2 when it passes through the nip 5 running, pressure is applied in pulses.
- An auxiliary belt 8 is located between the web 2 and the roller 3 performed, in the present case a steel strip, the Surface 2 facing surface has a relatively high smoothness having.
- the smoothness is as great as the smoothness of one Roller on which the web 2 would rest for smoothing.
- the auxiliary tape 8 is a good heat conductor and moreover impermeable. The heat from the heated Roller 3 can thus advance to web 2 practically unhindered.
- the temperature of the heated roller 3 is in operation greater than 100 ° C, d. H. Moisture that is in the Lane 2 is located due to the long dwell time evaporate in nip 5.
- the auxiliary band 8 after leaving the nip 5 so that it is at the Lane 2 continues.
- the jacket band 4 is also after guided according to leaving the nip.
- the coat band 4 and the auxiliary belt 8 form after lifting a cooling zone 9 in the circumference of the roller 3, in which the Jacket band 4 from one side and the auxiliary band 8 from the other side on the web 2 so that Steam cannot escape from web 2.
- the lane 2 dashed drawn
- coat band 4 with shown by solid lines.
- first cooling device 10 provided on the auxiliary belt 8th acts from the side on the roller 3 is applied.
- second cooling device 11 is provided on the jacket band 4 acts and also from the back out. Both cooling devices act through the corresponding Bands 4, 8 through.
- the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 works then particularly good if the jacket band 4 is also good is thermally conductive. In some cases this is but not the case, for example if the jacket band is formed from a plastic material is that has only a limited thermal conductivity. In this case, the jacket tape 4 serves to the steam exit from the web 2 on the roller 3 to prevent facing surface. The cooling takes place but practically only with the help of the first Cooling device 10.
- Fig. 2 shows one way how both sides of the Web 2 are cooled after leaving the nip 5 can.
- the same parts have the same reference numerals as provided in Fig. 1.
- a jacket auxiliary band 13 through the Nip 5 performed between the web 2 and the jacket tape 4 is arranged.
- the jacket auxiliary band 13 is also formed as a steel band, d. H. it has one quite good thermal conductivity. It will be in the Cooling zone 9 held in contact with the web 2, so that the Steam from web 2 after leaving nip 5 cannot escape.
- the auxiliary sheath band enables 13 (shown in dashed lines as the Auxiliary belt 8) that the cooling device 11 with a high Effectiveness through the jacket auxiliary band 13 can act on the web 2.
- the circulation of the jacket tape 4 is something in this case shorter, d. H. the jacket tape 4 can then again be returned when the nip 5 has ended.
- the "Shut-off function" is taken over by the auxiliary sheath band 13.
- the jacket auxiliary band 13 has a positive side effect. Its surface facing the web 2 can be in generally be formed much smoother than that Surface of the jacket tape 4. If the web 2 in the nip has received the necessary high temperature, then the jacket auxiliary band 13 is able to the back, d. H. the side of the web 2 that is not in contact with the roller 3 to smooth out. You achieve smoothing on both sides with a single pass through the Breitnip 5.
- the nip 5 still be provided a heater on the Side of the auxiliary belt 8 acts, facing the web 2 is. This will cause the auxiliary belt 8 to pass through the cooling device 10 has been cooled down again to one brought increased temperature, so that the smoothing of the Lane 2 can be improved.
- a steam application device can also be used be provided, the steam facing the web 2 Side of the auxiliary belt 8 or on the web 2 itself applying.
- a steam application device can also be used be provided, the steam facing the web 2 Side of the auxiliary belt 8 or on the web 2 itself applying.
- the heater and the Steam application device can also be combined.
