Definitions

  • roller labels generally consist of a printed front showing, through windows, figures constituting the price of the items they designate. These numbers, which can be from 0 to 9, are printed on the periphery of discs cut from thin sheets. A central hole is also cut on each of these discs, allowing them to be riveted on the printed facade. This being provided with play, the rivets therefore play the role of axis of rotation of each of these discs, which are therefore movable around their center. These casters thus made it possible to scroll through their figures, through the window associated with them.
  • the definition of an article price therefore consists in turning each of the rollers to the desired figure.
  • An object of the invention is to provide a less voluminous label, more easily readable and of more aesthetic appearance, in particular for a double display.
  • - display elements and - means for mounting the movable elements to rotate on the support, in which, for at least one of the display elements, the mounting means extend away from a center of the element and are discontinuous in a circumferential direction around this center.
  • these mounting means allow the display elements to be brought closer to one another without making the label larger, even in the case of double display, while properly guiding their rotation.
  • the label can be devoid of rivets, assembly is facilitated since one can set up all the display elements simultaneously on the support.
  • the mounting means are supported on an external edge of the element.
  • the mounting means are supported on an internal edge of the element.
  • the mounting means comprise a rib.
  • the mounting means extend over less than half a turn, and preferably less than a third of a turn, in the circumferential direction.
  • the mounting means are contiguous to each other for at least two of the display elements.
  • the label includes a front wall having windows through which the display elements are visible.
  • the label includes a rear wall having windows through which the display elements are accessible to be operated. - the rear wall windows are closed by a flexible waterproof membrane, or by a removable backsplash.
  • the mounting means, the opening of the rear wall and the center of the element are aligned.
  • - at least one of the display elements has the shape of a crown. - at least one of the display elements has a disc shape.
  • FIG. 1 is an elevational view of a label according to a first preferred embodiment of the invention
  • FIGS. 2, 3 and 4 are respective elevational views of the front wall, the display elements, and the rear wall of the label of the figure;
  • FIG. 5 is a view. in elevation of a label according to a second embodiment of the invention.
  • Figures 6, 7 and 8 are two figures similar to Figures 2,3 and 4 illustrating a third embodiment.
  • FIG. 9 is a figure similar to Figure 7 and 8 illustrating a variant, and; - Figure 10 is a partial figure in cross section of another variant of the label.
  • the label 2 comprises a rear wall 4, display elements 6 and a front wall 7.
  • the display elements 6 are interposed between the two front and rear walls and sandwiched between them. They are also partially superimposed with each other.
  • the display elements 6 are six in number here. They comprise a disc 6a, and five rings 6b to 6f; with reference to FIG. 4, the rear wall 4 comprises a flat plate 12 and ribs 14 projecting from this plate towards the front.
  • the plate has a general shape corresponding to the geometric envelope of the display elements 6a-6f as arranged in FIG. 3. Some of these ribs guide the display elements in rotation in the label.
  • the ribs 14 have here an arcuate shape, centered on the geometric center of the display element which they are responsible for guiding.
  • the rib 14 forming an upper edge of the plate has the shape of an arc of a circle identical to that of the external circular edge of the second large crown 6c and coming down against this edge.
  • the wall 4 has in the middle part a circular rib 16 bearing upwards against the internal circular edge of this ring 6c and extending for this purpose in the orifice 8 of the ring.
  • the two ribs 14, 16 are therefore concentric and centered on the geometric center of the crown 6c. They are aligned with this center, that is to say intercepted by the same geometric radius emanating from this center.
  • the two ribs 14, 16 are sufficient to guide the large crown 6c in rotation around its center.
  • the plate 12 has a bean-shaped opening 18, essentially delimited by the two ribs. This opening makes it possible to contact the crown through the rear wall 4 to rotate it.
  • the two ribs 14, 16 and the opening 18 extend over less than half a turn around the center of the crown 6c, and even less than a third of a turn. They extend here about a quarter of a turn.
  • the other large crown 6b is likewise guided by two ribs 14, 16 and associated with an opening 18. The same is true for the intermediate crown 6d and for one of the small crowns.
  • the other small crown 6f is guided in its own right by an internal rib 16. But its external edge is guided by the rib 16 which at the same time guides the internal edge of the other small crown 6e.
  • This “common” rib 16 therefore has non-concentric external and internal binders.
  • the disc 6a is guided by two external ribs 14, one at the edge of the plate, the other in the opening 8 of the first large crown 6b and attached by one end to the end of the internal rib 16 of that -this.
  • the circular ribs 14 extending at the edge of the plate are connected to each other, in particular by rectilinear sections. It can be seen that the guide means associated with each display element are offset and distant with respect to a geometric center of the element considered and discontinuous in a direction circumferential to this center. In addition, the guide means associated with a crown (or a disc) do not occupy the center of this crown.
  • label 2 consists of a printed front and an injected support part.
  • the ribs 14, 16 are arranged on this support piece, so as to form housings for the display elements.
  • these ribs placed on the outside and inside of the crowns substantially match their respective shapes.
  • the crowns and the disc are cut from thin sheets of plastic.
  • the front wall 7 and the rear wall 4 may be made of molded plastic material (s), which can be welded together. This welding is shown in the figures by the hatching of the support part 4. It follows that the printed facade of the front wall 7 remains intact from any relief or cavity. It can also be provided that the rear wall is made of polystyrene.
  • the maintenance of the discs and crowns could come from pins, avoiding welding the printed facade at the ribs, the crowns being in any case sandwiched between the support part 4 and the printed facade 7 which could be welded, riveted or clipped.
  • the maintenance of the crowns could come from a flap, whether or not attached to the plastic support part 4.
  • Windows 10 are provided on the printed front in order to constitute an item price.
  • priority has been given to the constitution of the largest possible item price, but also the most compact possible and the lowest possible on the label. Hence this overlapping of the crowns.
  • the ribs being substantially one opposite the other, they form an obligatory passage for each crown. This, with the exception near disc 6a.
  • the scrolling of the figures printed on the periphery of the display elements is still performed by rotation.
  • the taking between two fingers of the display elements to rotate them about their axis as in a conventional label is replaced by pressure and friction on the display elements as for the rotation of rollers.
  • the label is suitable for a dual display, for example Francs and Euros. It has a rectangular shape. The edges of the rear wall 4 play no role here in guiding the display elements except for the two leftmost rings.
  • the display elements are all 6g, 6h crowns. They are grouped into two series. The geometric centers of the crowns in each series are aligned horizontally. The two lines extend one above the other. Each crown 6g, 6h partially overlaps other crowns of the same series, as well as crowns of the other series. Each crown is guided by a pair of ribs 14, 16 most of which simultaneously guide the outer edge of a crown and guide the inner edge of another crown of the same series. In each series, the ribs are intercepted by the line corresponding to the direction of alignment of the centers of the crowns.
  • access openings to the crowns are provided in the rear wall 12, between the corresponding ribs 14, 16.
  • the crowns overlap so close to each other that, in each series, crowns 2, 3 and 4 from the left partially cover the central opening 8 of the crown 1 furthest to the left.
  • this same opening extend three ribs 16 respectively guiding the crowns 2, 3 and 4.
  • the invention whether it is a simple display or even a double display, makes it possible to place all the crowns on the support part and to join them together in a single operation, by welding the printed facade 7 on the rear plate 4 in the embodiments shown.
  • This solution therefore makes it possible to envisage an automated or semi-automated assembly.
  • With the support part made of injected plastic it even makes it possible to envisage a reduction in the cost of the labels in the case of medium or large series, or at least a substantially equivalent cost for labels which are however more efficient.
  • the openings 18 of the support part 4 could be closed by one or more flexible membranes. These, for example obtained by bi-injection or by simple covering with a film, would thus guarantee the total tightness of the labels, without modifying their use by friction on the crowns, possible thanks to the flexibility and the deformation of the membranes.
  • no membranes are provided, but a rigid sliding backsplash 30 received in a rear housing and guided by dovetail profiles 32 of the support plate. For increased sealing, it is possible to install a flexible seal (by bi-injection or overmolding) on the perimeter of the backsplash 30 or of the opening which receives it.
  • the invention therefore provides a label having a better economic, aesthetic and functional compromise, whether it is simple or dual display.
  • the solution of the invention consists in replacing the axial guidance of the display elements by a guidance offset relative to the axis, allowing more overlapping of the elements between them.
  • at least one of the discs guided by an axis, rivet or the like is replaced by a circular crown 6b-6f, 6g-6h guided by ribs substantially matching its shapes.
  • These ribs are placed on the outer side and / or the inner side of each circular crown, and are arranged on a support piece integral with the printed facade.
  • the outer and inner ribs being limited to a part of the circumference and substantially one opposite the other, they form an obligatory passage for each crown.
  • the crowns being sandwiched so as to be held in their housing, that is to say between their ribs, against the support piece, their rotation can be effected by friction of the crown at its housing, a little like on a wheel.
  • the support piece has the openings 18 at this level.
  • the assembly can be carried out by placing all the crowns on the support part 4, in their respective housings, and then, in a single operation, sandwiching them with the front panel 7 to hold them between their ribs.
  • This solution makes it possible to obtain compact labels, with compact item prices, for both single and double displays, while keeping manufacturing costs low.
  • the addition of the support part 4 can be offset by a reduction in the cost of assembly, which becomes simultaneous.
  • only the attachment of the support piece 4 could be visible, according to its definition, the perceived quality and the readability of these new labels being increased.
  • This solution also makes it possible to obtain these same labels in a hermetic variant, by obstructing the openings 18 of the support part 4 by flexible membranes or by a backsplash as described above.
  • FIGS. 6 to 8 A third embodiment of the invention has been illustrated in FIGS. 6 to 8.
  • the display elements here consist of four rings 6i and a disc 6j.
  • the four crowns 6i would be used to display the price whereas the disc is used here to display the expression such as "100 g", "kg", "piece",
  • One or more slides 20 can be provided on the support plate 4 for the reception of removable strips 24 bearing inscriptions and / or illustrations.
  • the slides are here two in number and are sandwiched between the front panel 7 and the rear plate of the support 4.
  • the corresponding part 22 of the front panel will then be transparent to reveal the strip.
  • Illustrated in Figure 9 the support plate 4 of a variant of the embodiment of Figure 8. In this variant, the plate is reduced essentially to the space required for housing the elements 6i, 6j.
  • the facade is correspondingly reduced. It is thus possible to produce the label “small model”, by comparison with the “large model” in FIG. 8.
  • the support plate can be fixed to a peak, base, etc., forming a support for the label, either directly or via the backsplash 30 in the embodiment of FIG. 10.
