Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a pen comprising a pen, a tubular body and an ink tank.
  • the invention of the first pen holder which simply included a writing pen attached to the end of a handle
  • the most advanced remarkable brought to the writing instruments was the invention of the fountain pen, comprising a hollow handle or pen body provided with an ink tank and a ink supply system.
  • Various others improvements were then devised to improve the pen structure and the delivery system of pen ink.
  • the fountain pen is also an aesthetic object and is the subject of various aesthetic research on its two elements essential components that are the body and the feather, as well as the cap.
  • the present invention is the result of an approach entirely different in the search for an effect new aesthetic, and is based on the idea of modifying the structure of the components of a fountain pen to obtain a new, differentiating form distinctly shaped like a classic fountain pen.
  • the present invention aims to fountain pen that differs from a classic fountain pen by a particular structure of his body having a significant aesthetic impact.
  • This objective is achieved by forecasting a fountain pen of the type described above, having a body double-walled tubular and an arranged ink tank between the outer wall and the inner wall of the body of the pen, the inner wall of the body of the pen being fixed relative to the outer wall and visible from the outside of the pen.
  • the body of the pen includes two coaxial tubular pieces, one piece outer tubular forming the outer wall of the body of the pen, an internal tubular piece forming the wall inside the pen body, the ink tank being arranged between the inner face of the tubular part outer and outer face of the tubular part internal.
  • the outer face of the inner tubular part has one more region small diameter forming with the inner face of the outer tubular part the ink tank, and includes on a region of larger diameter at least one groove of ink to pen.
  • the outer face of the internal tubular part includes two lateral channels channels opening into the tank, a channel longitudinal center arranged between the two channels lateral and a plurality of transverse grooves connecting the central channel to the two lateral channels, the groove of ink coming from the channel central.
  • the tubular part internal includes a first tubular part on which are fitted two tubular parts forming spacers for assembling the first part tubular and external tubular part the tank ink extending longitudinally between the edges of the two spacers.
  • the tubular part external is in a first type of metal or alloy and the tubular pieces forming spacers are in a second type of metal or alloy of lesser hardness than that of the first type of metal or alloy.
  • the feather is formed by a thinned end of the external tubular part, comprising a longitudinal slot revealing two feather beaks.
  • the feed groove of the ink ends under the slot separating the spouts of feather.
  • the body of the pen has the shape of a tube open at its two ends, the inner wall is visible from both ends of the pen.
  • the body of the pen includes a vent opening at the rear end of the body of the pen, to regulate the pressure in the tank and allow the tank to be filled with aspiration.
  • the pen comprises a cap which is integral with a case intended to receive the body of the pen.
  • the cap is mounted rotatable at one end of the case.
  • the present invention also relates to a writing device, comprising a pen according to the invention and a device for filling the reservoir ink pen including a receiving block the back end of the pen.
  • the reception block includes: a rear end receiving cavity of the pen, comprising at least one seal cooperating with the outer wall of the pen; an outgrowth arranged in the receiving cavity, fitting into the pen and comprising at least one seal cooperating with the wall inside the pen; and an air suction means comprising a suction opening opening into the receiving cavity.
  • Figures 1A, 1B, 1C respectively represent by a view from above, a view from below and a view from rear profile an example of a pen 1 according to the invention.
  • Pen 1 has the appearance of a tube having its two ends bevelled at a determined angle, here of the order of 12 ° relative to its axis longitudinal. Observing the bevelled edge of the pen 1, it appears that the latter comprises an external tube 10, which forms the outer wall or envelope of the pen, and an internal tubular part 20 coaxial with the tube 10, which forms the inner wall of the tube.
  • Internal part 20 seems itself to consist of two tubular layers 21, 22, layer 22 surrounding layer 21 and having a greater thickness than layer 21. These layers correspond to parts 21, 22-1 and 22-2 mentioned below in relation to the description of an embodiment of the internal part 20.
  • the end of the outer tube 10 gets thinner due to its bevel cut and forms a feather 11.
  • the thinned end of the tube 10 has a longitudinal slot 12 allowing the flow of ink to the tip of the pen 11 and showing two feather tips 13, 14.
  • the back end of the pen is bevelled the same way that the front end for reasons aesthetics and symmetry of the whole but could also, in an alternative embodiment, present a cross section profile.
  • Such a fountain pen is of a surprising aspect in that that it appears entirely hollow when viewed from the outside and seems to lack any ink supply system.
  • the body of the pen actually comprises an ink tank hidden between its inner wall and its outer wall, as will be better understood in referring to Figures 2A, 2B, and 3A, 3B.
  • Figures 2A, 2B show the outer tube 10 before it is assembled on the internal tubular part 20, respectively by a top view and a view from below.
  • the tube 10 is for example made of stainless steel and is force fitted onto the tubular part 20.
  • the part internal tubular 20 includes a central tube 21 likewise length as outer tube 10 and two tube portions 22-1, 22-2 fitted on both ends of the tube central 21.
  • the tube portions 22-1, 22-2 have a outer diameter substantially equal to the diameter inside of the outer tube 10 and form spacers assembly of the outer tube 10 on the central tube 21.
  • the central tube 21 is for example made of stainless steel and the spacers 22-1, 22-2 are for example made of a metal or an alloy of less hardness than steel, for example of brass.
  • Spacers 22-1, 22-2 each extend substantially over a third of the length of the central tube 21 and show a region of length L where the face outside of the internal tubular part 20 has a smaller diameter, here the outside diameter of the tube 21.
  • this region of weaker diameter forms an ink tank 24 which is delimited in the radial direction by the outside face of the tube central 21 and the inner face of the outer tube 10 (Fig. 2A), and is delimited in the longitudinal direction by the edges of spacers 22-1, 22-2 which are in look.
  • the internal tubular part 20 also includes a channel 220 forming a vent, to maintain the reservoir 24 at atmospheric pressure and allow the flow of ink in the direction of the pen.
  • Channel 220 is here engraved on the surface of the spacer 22-1 and leads to the back end of the pen. As we will see more far, this arrangement of channel 220 makes it possible to ensure the filling of the reservoir 24 by means of a device depression which is fixed on the back end of the pen.
  • the external tube 10 has an internal diameter of the order of 9.45 mm and an external diameter of the order of 10 mm.
  • the spacers have an inside diameter of around 8.00 mm and an outside diameter of around 9.45 mm.
  • the central tube 21 has an inside diameter of around 7.6 mm and an outside diameter of around 8 mm.
  • the length of the tubes 10, 21 is of the order of 185 mm, and that of the spacers 22-1, 22-2 of the order of 65 mm.
  • the reservoir 24 thus extends over a length of 55 mm and has a volume of the order of 0.9 cm 3 .
  • the channels 230, 231, 232 are formed over a length of the order of 37.5 mm and a depth of the order of 0.3 mm, the etching angle of the channels 230, 231 being of the order of 44 ° and the engraving angle of channel 232 of the order of 26 °.
  • the width of the groove 232 is of the order of 0.1 mm and its depth of the order of 0.3 mm.
  • the width of the grooves 233 is of the order of 0.1 mm and their depth is of the order of 0.6 mm.
  • the width of the groove 220 is of the order of 0.025 mm and its depth of the order of 0.4 mm.
  • the pen 11, represented schematically on the Figures 1A to 3B, is susceptible in practice to various embodiments.
  • Figure 4 illustrates an embodiment in which the pen 11 has a shrinkage area obtained by machining lateral edges of the spouts 13, 14, the end of the pen 11 having a substantially constant width.
  • the end of the spacer 22-2, which serves to support the groove 234, is not machined like the nib 11 and retains the shape conferred by beveling.
  • the present invention is of course susceptible various other variants and embodiments, especially with regard to the dimensions and the structure of the parts described above and the materials used to make them.
  • the wall inside or outside of the body of a pen depending the invention does not necessarily have a cylindrical profile and may have an oval or substantially square profile depending on the desired aesthetic effect.
  • the internal part 20 is produced in a single block by injection of a plastic in a mold.
  • the fountain pen according to the invention has two main characteristics which can be implemented each independently of the other.
  • a characteristic consists in providing a feather formed by an extension of the material forming the envelope of the pen body, here the outer tube 10.
  • the other feature is to plan a tubular pen body having an ink reservoir housed between its outer wall and its inner wall. So a classic feather could be attached to a pen body according to the invention, and a pen body classic could be coated with a metal casing extending in the form of a feather.
  • the combination of these two characteristics constitutes however the mode preferred embodiment of the invention because it allows provide a pen body open at both ends, the nib does not block the front end of the pen and forming a harmonious extension of the pen body.
  • a device for refilling the ink tank of this pen Due to the special structure of the pen according to the invention, it also falls within the concept general inventive of the present invention to provide a device for refilling the ink tank of this pen.
  • a device 30 for filling the ink tank is shown in section in the figures 5A and 5B.
  • the pen 1 is shown respectively before and after filling his tank, and at its rear end engaged in the device 30 and its front end dipped in a inkwell.
  • the assembly formed by the pen 1 and the device filling 30 constitutes a device for writing.
  • the filling device 30 comprises a block 31 in which is formed a cavity 32 for receiving the rear end of the pen 1.
  • the cavity 32 comprises a cylindrical protrusion 34 fitting into the hollow part of the rear end of the pen.
  • the cavity 32 is sealed by three annular seals 33 arranged on the inner wall of the cavity 32, at the mouth of the cavity 32, which cooperate with the wall outside of the pen, and thanks to three annular seals 35 arranged around the cylindrical projection 34, which cooperate with the inner wall of the pen.
  • the receiving cavity 32 is placed under vacuum at by means of a conventional pumping system, integrated here in the block 31, comprising a piston 36 slidably mounted in a cylindrical cavity 37 thanks to a screw system and wheel 38.
  • the cavity 37 communicates with the cavity of reception 32 via an orifice suction 39.
  • the piston 36 is pulled towards the rear by a rotation of the wheel 38, the depression in cavity 32 communicates with the reservoir ink 24 through channel 220 forming vent, described above, which opens into cavity 32.
  • ink is thus sucked into tank 24 via the feather, furrow and canals connecting the feather to tank 24.
  • the idea of the present invention is to provide a cap integral with a case provided for receive the pen body.
  • the rear end of the pen body has the shape of a hollow tube in the mode preferred embodiment of the present invention. She could thus inadvertently receive small objects which could get stuck inside the body. She could also receive dirt, for example if the pen fell on earthy or dusty ground or fell into sand. So it's advantageous, but in no way imperative, to associate with the means of protection of the pen means of protection of the whole pen. Thus, the user is naturally led to protect the entire pen when it is not in use.
  • Figures 6A and 6B show an example of production of a case / cap according to the invention, comprising a case 40 of narrow and longitudinal shape adapted to the shape of the pen, for storage and transport of the pen, and a piece 41 for receiving the feather 11, integral with the case 40, forming a cap.
  • the receiving part 41 includes a recess for receiving the end of the pen 11, and is rotatably mounted at one end of the case 40.
  • the reception room 41 for example has the shape of a ball mounted around a axis (not shown) passing through its center, and is maintained in the pen reception position thanks to a ball 42 cooperating with a notch with rounded edges, the ball being pushed into the notch by a spring 43.
  • the ball 42 and the spring 43 are arranged in a recess in the case 40 and the notch is arranged on the surface of the workpiece reception 41.
  • Ball 42 and spring can also be arranged in a housing in the room reception 41, the ball 42 then cooperating with a notch on the surface of the case 40.
  • the pen 11 is first of all engaged in the receiving part 41 while holding the pen substantially law.
  • the pen is then tilted into the case 40 by a rotational movement of the part 41 around its axis.
  • a cover 44 is then folded over the case.
