Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a dual connection terminal block for modular electrical apparatus having two superimposed levels of connection of conductors which are usable independently one the other.
  • a first bomier is of the traditional cage type cooperating with a terminal and clamping member / loosening the driver, which is accessible from the front of the housing of the device facing the user in the installed position, ie the one which has a joystick.
  • the second terminal block is quick-connect type, based on an elastic element and without clamping member.
  • Double connections on the same side of a housing Modular electrical devices are already known, also making intervene different connection technologies, but they require either adaptations of the bomiers or a particular order in the relative arrangement of these so that their spaces respective are disjoint. For example, given that traditional cages and screws have elements mechanical up to the aforementioned facade of the housing, the bomiers quick-connect type are arranged behind them, closer to the sole of the modular device.
  • EP-A-1,028,489 discloses a dual connection terminal block according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the second bomier is therefore disposed between the access front to the clamping / loosening member of the first terminal block classic and its connecting cage, and it is self-supporting so as not to transmit efforts to the housing of the modular device.
  • An essential objective of the invention is in fact to allow the installation of a quick-connect type terminal block without modifying the terminal block in any way traditional cage and screw, nor its implementation in the housing of the modular device. So the goal is actually to add a second terminal block, the one with quick connection, to a first traditional terminal block for which the housings are drawn, without notable changes of these.
  • the industrial manufacturing process does not hardly changed, which gives the invention an economic advantage undeniable.
  • An additional objective of the state of the art is to allow the implantation of the second terminal block with quick connection without mechanical impacts on the insulating housings of modular devices. That's why the system needs to be planned self-supported, and strictly use the internal structure set up for the first traditional bomier.
  • the modular devices thus equipped with two levels of overlapping connections are provided in practice so that the level at fast connection is reserved for power supply and electrical distribution of products, by direct plugging of conductors preferentially bar type bridging.
  • the traditional level consisting of the cage cooperating with a terminal, is preferably reserved for power supply, by cable or also by bridging bar.
  • the proposed implementation is fully compatible with the implementation that can be found in traditional devices.
  • the level of bypass (level of positioning of the conductors) and bridging capacity are retained.
  • the second terminal block may be of the spring blade type, the end of which free elastically rests on a surface of the terminal parallel to the axis of insertion conductors, said blade having a central opening allowing the passage of the clamping / loosening member.
  • the problem solved in the context of the invention consists in the management of the available space, knowing that the case is initially designed for exclusively receive a traditional cage and clamp terminal of type screw, said screw making the connection between the cage and the accessible facade of the device, the second terminal block must then cohabit in the volume traveled by the screw.
  • the present invention relates to a dual connection terminal block for modular electrical apparatus according to claim 1.
  • the leaf spring has two separate branches arranged on either side of the clamping member / loosening, said branches being connected at the level of the fastening zone of the blade to a support.
  • the conductive element intended to be introduced into the second chamber is a bridging bar
  • it can be chosen forks so as to allow its introduction despite the body of the screw on the one hand, and to improve the connection by contact with the two branches of the blade spring on the other hand. It is however note that traditional bridging bars are perfectly usable with the bardiers of this type.
  • the blade is fixed to a cap attached to the terminal, said cap surmounting the surface of the terminal parallel to the insertion axis of the conductors with which the blade cooperates, which is then fixed on a wall of the headdress parallel to said surface.
  • This wall is also provided with a passage opening of the tightening / loosening device, in order to organize the cohabitation between the second terminal block and the clamping member of the first terminal block, namely said screw.
  • this solution shows a first possibility of self-support, the housing of the modular electrical apparatus not being involved in this mechanical connection.
  • this cap may for example be made of a U-shaped sheet whose parallel side walls are fixed to their free end, at the conduction terminal.
  • the blade is fixed directly to the terminal, on a portion of course perpendicular to the aforementioned surface parallel to the axis of insertion of conductors, however the opposite of the insertion opening.
  • the shape of the leaf spring is of course different from that which is used in the capped configuration. Shape details will appear further in the description.
  • the second terminal block is of the wire type spring.
  • one of the criteria to respect in the constitution of said thread is that it respects the bulk of the first terminal block, for which the housing is initially planned.
  • the spring wire has for this purpose two identical parts, one of which ends is resiliently supported on the terminal, said parts being connected to each other. the other at their other end, and reserving a central volume for the passage of the screw.
  • the uniqueness of the yarn does not result from functional considerations, but rather related to manufacturing, economically much more favorable in the case where a wire single spring is bent to achieve a two-legged configuration, furthermore more easily fixable to a support in a single operation.
  • said spring wire is fixed to the terminal, for example by simple jamming
  • the double connection block of the invention can according to one possibility be equipped with an unlocking device for the conductors inserted in the second terminal, said member having two stable positions, a first position corresponding to an absence of action on the spring element, and a second position to change the position of the spring element relative to the terminal surface parallel to the insertion direction of the conductors, so as to reduce the contact pressure or move it away in order to remove the driver from terminal.
  • the spring element is positioned to allow the quick connection followed by locking one or more drivers.
  • this unlocking member comprises a central opening passage of the clamping / loosening member, on both sides of which including two cams intended to apply each against a portion of the spring element located near the supported portion elastically against said surface of the terminal parallel to the direction insertion of the conductors.
  • cams make it possible to move the branches of the spring blade, or the two identical portions of the wire spring, at least in their parts located at neighborhood of the terminal with which they cooperate.
  • said member is accessible from the front of the housing of the apparatus comprising the control handle, in the vicinity of the body of tightening / loosening of the conductors, and moves parallel to said facade.
  • the displacement is done using a screwdriver type tool, which the end is inserted for example into a notch provided for this purpose in the unlocking member.
  • the double connection block according to the invention further includes a connection indicator of at least one driver in the second terminal, echoing the information at the front of the box of the apparatus comprising the joystick.
  • This optional element allows the user to realize immediately of the good insertion of the driver, whatever his form, in the second terminal block.
  • this indicator has a central shaft and two arms developing radially from said shaft, run arms cooperating with the element is released and moved during the insertion or extraction of conductors, resulting in a rotation of the central shaft and a displacement of the second arm, the end of which moves relative to a window made in said front of the housing, so as to focus on the insertion of a driver, and to disappear during its extraction.
  • this indicator is then immediately available on the front of the housing that faces the user. To further improve the efficiency of system, it is sufficient, for example, to cover the end moving relative to the window of a bright color, so as to facilitate the reading of the information.
  • the housing (B) of a modular electrical appliance conventional, circuit breaker type is equipped on one of its lateral sides of two openings opening access to two superposed connection terminals (1, 2).
  • the first terminal block (1) has a conventional cage configuration (4) and screw (3), while the second terminal block (2), interposed between the latter and the front (F a ) access to the screw (3), which is the main facade (F a ) facing the user when the device is installed in a table, is of the quick connect type by spring element (6).
  • the housing (B) is not modified substantially by the addition of the second terminal block (2), apart from the realization of a access port to the latter, and therefore offers a virtually identical to that of a device housing equipped with a single traditional terminal block.
  • the philosophy of the invention consists as indicated to add, in the space available, and without any significant modifications, the second bomier (2) which must respect the implantation of the first (1).
  • FIG. 3 shows the different constituents of a first variant of double according to the invention.
  • the screw (3), the cage (4) and the terminal (5) constitute a bomier traditional to which are mainly reported a leaf spring (6), a cap (7) and, optionally, an indicator (8).
  • the blade (6) which in fact comprises two branches identical on both sides of the screw (3), is fixed to the cap (7), in its wall allowing the passage of the screw (3).
  • the free ends of both the other side walls of the cap (7) are fixed to the terminal (5), forming in fact a extension in the direction of the screw head (3) of the traditional structure consisting of the terminal (5) and the cage (4).
  • the ends of the shaft (9) of pivoting of the indicator (8) are also fixed in said walls.
  • This indicator (8) further comprises two arms (10, 11) developing in a manner radial with respect to said shaft (9), and which allow on the one hand the transmission of the information, and on the other hand the cooperation with the blade spring (6).
  • the arm (10), contained inside the cap (7), is arranged to cooperate with one of the branches of the leaf spring (6).
  • the latter can move it when it is requested, that is to say the insertion or extraction of at least one conductor in the second terminal.
  • the movement is reflected by the rotation of the shaft (9) to the arm (11), whose free end is disposed near a window (16) formed in the facade (F a ) of the housing, as will be described in more detail later (see Figures 11 and 12).
  • FIG. 6 represents a variant of configuration in which the cap is removed, the spring blade (6 ') being directly fixed on the terminal (5).
  • the spring blade (6 ') has an additional portion (6a) of parallel shape. to the axis of the screw (3), at the end of which is the attachment zone to the terminal (5).
  • this design can be considered as self-supporting, because the efforts, during insertion or extraction of a driver respectively in or out of the housing are not supported by this last.
  • this configuration does not require any change in the structure of the traditional terminal block cage and screw, since the element spring, consisting of the wire (6 "), is configured to be related to the configuration existing.
  • the wire (6 ") has two portions identical, which can be considered as two symmetrical branches, connected to their opposite end to that which is applied to the terminal (5) to simplify manufacturing.
  • the free ends of the blade branches (6, 6 ') / thread (6 ") spring resiliently bear on a surface of the terminal (5) which is oriented substantially parallel to the insertion / extraction direction of the driver.
  • the spring element (6, 6 ', 6 ") is calculated to exert a restoring force enough to lock the driver when it has been inserted.
  • a particular organ such as the one shown in FIG. 8 for the spring wire (6 ').
  • This organ (12) presents also a symmetrical configuration, to adapt to the shape of said wire (6 "), and has a central recess (13) allowing the passage of the body of the screw (3).
  • the unlocking member (12) On either side of the axis of the screw (3), the unlocking member (12) has in particular two cams (14), only one of which is visible in the figure, enabling action to be taken against portions of the ends of the spring wire (6 ") located near their free ends and their contact areas with the terminal (5), so that said ends make a movement symbolized by the arrow F when the spring member (12) is placed in the direction of arrow F.
  • the displacement according to the arrow F allows either to separate the free ends of the wire spring (6 ") of the surface of the terminal (5) against which they are supported elastic, or to reduce the pressure they exert, so as to be able to release the driver.
  • FIG. 9 shows the implantation of a double terminal block with spring wire (6 ") according to the invention in the housing (B) of an electrical modular apparatus, without representation of the unlocking member (12).
  • FIG. 10 shows the addition of this member (12), and its relative positioning on the one hand to the housing (B) of the appliance, and on the other hand to the front (F a ) of said housing (B). It can be seen that this member (12) is perfectly accessible from the facade (F a ), and has a notch (15) allowing it to be moved notably by means of the tip of a screwdriver.
  • the end of the lateral cheeks of the member (12) has elastic tabs (16, 16 ') allowing it to define two stable positions. On the one hand a position in which no stress is exerted on the spring wire (6 ') and corresponding at the connection of a conductor to the terminal (5). On the other hand a position the spring element (6 ') of the terminal (5) for the disconnection of the conductor.
  • FIGS. 11 and 12 respectively show a portion of the housing (B) of a modular appliance equipped with a double bomier according to the invention, highlighting the facade (F a ) in which a window (16) contiguous with the orifice of the screw (3), and allowing access to the information conveyed by the indicator (8).
  • a forked comb (P) is inserted in said terminal block, exerting therefore via the spring element an action on the leg (10) of the indicator (8), which pivots through its shaft (9) and allows the moving the tab (11) whose free end is centered in relation to the window (16).
  • This end is for example covered with a bright color, so as to allow immediate access to this information.
