Definitions
- the present invention relates to an improvement for a protective helmet and more particularly to its connection means for an accessory such as a support, for example, for a night vision device or the like, or even a protective screen.
- Protective helmets are already known which are used in different fields and worn by various users such as cyclists, motorcyclists, firefighters, skiers and others, such as pilots of airplanes or helicopters. All current helmets, whatever their use, comprise an external rigid shell having the general shape of a sphere, comprising a facial opening, and the cavity thus formed comprises protective and comfort padding elements intended to fit the head of the user. Furthermore, the helmet is traditionally retained on the head of the user by a flexible chin strap fixed to the lateral parts of the helmet.
- the present invention relates more particularly, but not limitatively, to helmets for airplane or helicopter pilots.
- helmets are equipped with a viewing device, such as a night vision device.
- a viewing device such as a night vision device.
- Such a device must be firmly attached to the helmet and must have a precise position relative to the eye of the user. There is therefore the problem of its attachment to the helmet.
- the present invention therefore provides means for removable connection of an accessory to the helmet which are particularly simple and reliable.
- the protective helmet of the invention comprising a main external shell of general vertical plane of symmetry to which can be fixed an accessory such as a clear or tinted visor or a support structure for optronic equipment such as a vision device nocturnal, is characterized in that it comprises connection and locking means allowing the user to fix one or the other of the accessories to said helmet.
- connection and locking means are arranged on either side of the shell and are constituted by an attachment pin secured to the helmet shell and a hooking and locking piece secured to the 'accessory.
