Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for direct coating of fluorescent tubes with polymers.
- a lamp in particular a fluorescent tube, is provided with a tubular, at least partially translucent coating.
- This cover is made of plastic and is a shrink tube.
- This shrink tube can contain a color and partially or essentially completely surround the fluorescent tube.
- PS 28 35 432 proposes a polymer layer containing phosphor substances to apply that the polymers dissolved in water by means of dipping, spraying, Screen printing or sedimentation process applied to the substrate surface to be coated and then drying the solvent, if necessary by adding crosslinking agents be fixed.
- a disadvantage of DE 200 13 429 is that the expanded shrink tube in the Practice will partially rest when applied to the fluorescent tube. This creates an uneven Heat distribution in the shrink tube, which increases during the shrinking process Differences in wall thickness ultimately lead to considerable, different, radial Voltages that lead to the destruction of the fluorescent tube under unfavorable circumstances can.
- the minimum wall thickness of an extruded shrink tube after State of the art at least 5 - 7% of its diameter. It follows that at such a sheathing a wall thickness of 0.3 mm and below cannot be achieved. This can be too much for certain applications, especially when it comes to the polymers Wrapping high demands are placed on transparency.
- Wall thickness In the case of a shrink tube, only one can remain constant in the axial direction Wall thickness can be selected. A larger, desirable from an application technology point of view Wall thickness, for example at the ends where the highest temperature load is not possible with this procedure.
- the process described in DE 28 35 432 namely the application of polymers in aqueous solution to fluorescent tubes, is preferably suitable for the production of a fluorescent layer on strongly jagged surfaces.
- Worth mentioning are, for example, cavity walls with a small radius of curvature or also substrate surfaces with angles including edges.
- the process is far too cumbersome and time-consuming because of the large number of process steps required, namely dissolving the polymers in water, applying them to the substrate, drying the water solvent and finally crosslinking the polymer, if necessary at elevated temperature and therefore too expensive.
- the required water solubility only a very limited range of polymers is available.
- the task now is to provide a method that allows tubular Fluorescent tubes with a large number of polymers at affordable costs in large quantities to encase.
- a wall thickness of 0.3 mm and below should also be possible be, as well as the execution of the casing in specifically set, different Wall thicknesses, both in the axial and in the radial direction.
- the design of the crosshead is of particular importance in the method according to the invention: it can be designed so that its inner, annular passage - towards the conveyed fluorescent tube - is thermally separated or even cooled, in order to avoid excessive heat during the coating with high-melting materials , In the case of sheathing with low-melting polymers, the crosshead can also be designed so that it deliberately heats up the fluorescent tube as it passes through, so that a better connection between glass and polymer is achieved.
- a multi-layer coating can also be applied in order to achieve a particularly intimate connection with the glass with an inner layer of high adhesive strength - or the multi-layer coating is designed in such a way that the inner layer has a low adhesive force, which in the case of the Recycling is particularly easy to remove from the glass.
- the advantage of the method according to the invention is in particular that very thin, Material-saving layers can be reached that allow high transparency.
- typical Coating layer thicknesses are between 0.1-0.3 mm.
- the pull-off speed which is usually 2 - 10 m per minute
- the pull-off speed can be changed in a targeted manner while a fluorescent tube is being passed through.
- Any axial thickness profiles can be applied in this way.
- a special recipe setting with regard to the absorption behavior for special wavelengths is also possible.
- Cases such as absorption up to 610 nm, which gives a red color suitable for photo laboratories, or transparent plastic coatings which are transparent to UV radiation, are also possible.
- splinter protection and absorption of a certain wavelength can be combined in one casing.
- the method according to the invention thus allows a large number of designs for the casing of fluorescent tubes. Besides the selection of the most suitable for the application Polymers especially the tool design of the crosshead, the speed of the respective strip take-off and the melt temperature at the crosshead decisive for the achievable layer thickness of the casing.
- the fluorescent tube is fed by hand to a tape take-off, which has two adjustable tapes and is driven by a regulated DC motor of a special design, a so-called four-quadrant drive.
- This drive allows a rapid variation of the speed according to a given control program, ie it can accelerate as well as brake.
- the tape take-off conveys the fluorescent tube through the crosshead at a base speed of 7.8 m per minute. This is thermally separated, has a passage of 30 mm and is flanged to a single-screw extruder that is transverse to the direction of movement of the fluorescent tube.
- the polymeric sheathing, here PET is extruded with cylinder temperatures of 300 ° C and a mold temperature of 260 ° C.
- the melt escaping through the die gap is pressed all around onto the first fluorescent tube when the sheathing line is approached and pulls up as a tight layer of 0.15 mm thickness due to the movement of the tube.
- the thermal dissipation of the fluorescent tube and the heat radiation from the applied polymer layer is sufficient to solidify it into a tight, but stress-free coating.
- the speed of the four-quadrant drive is reduced to 4.7 m per minute via the control voltage. This reduction in speed increases the wall thickness of the PET jacket from 0.15 to 0.25 mm.
- the take-off speed is increased again to 7.8 m per minute, as a result of which the coating in the radiation area of the fluorescent tube is reduced to the material-saving and highly transparent wall thickness of 0.15 mm.
- the fluorescent tube is now captured by a second fume cupboard of the same design and speed and transported on.
- another tube is transported from the first take-off through the tool at a distance of a few mm to the first tube.
- the tubes are separated from one another by cutting through the plastic layer.

Abstract
