Abstract

The invention relates to a filter for filtering gaseous media contaminated with moisture and/or oil and/or solid particles. According to the invention, a pot-shaped filter element (5) is placed inside a housing (1, 4), in particular, between the inlet (2) and the outlet (3). A pre-filter (6), which can be easily removed and which functions like a cyclone filter, is located at the entry of the filter element (5). The operating costs of a filter of this type are low by virtue of the fact that the serviceable life of the actual filter is long and that the pre-filter, which can be easily replaced, does result in the accrual of any significant costs.

Description

Filter für mit Feuchtigkeit und/oder Öl und/oder Feststoffpartikeln verunreinigte, gasförmige MedienFilters for gaseous media contaminated with moisture and / or oil and / or solid particles
The invention relates to a filter for gaseous media contaminated with moisture and / or oil and / or solid particles, having a housing having an inlet and an outlet for the gaseous medium and a pot-shaped filter element accommodated therein, the filter means of which is arranged between the inlet and the outlet ,
In a known filter of this type, which has been used in practice for decades, the inlet opens axially into the cup-shaped filter element which is generally open at the top and closed by a cap at the bottom. The medium to be cleaned is thus forced to flow through the cylindrical wall into the chamber of the housing and from there to the outlet. Moisture particles, oil particles and / or solid particles are retained by the filter medium of the filter element. Depending on the type of filter medium, more or less moisture is separated due to the coalescence effect and drips down into the housing, where it can be removed via a condensate drain.
In addition to this type of cup-shaped filter, in which the medium to be cleaned flows more or less axially and radially through the filter medium, there are cyclone filters, in particular with a coalescing effect, in which the medium to be cleaned is introduced into a hollow cylindrical filter element with a swirl flow. The Swirl flow favors the separation of the contaminating particles contained in the gaseous medium on the wall of the filter element.
The invention has for its object to provide a filter with a cup-shaped filter element, based in particular on the coalescence effect, which has a long service life.
This object is achieved with a filter of the type mentioned at the outset, in which a pre-filter designed as a cyclone filter with a coalescence effect is interchangeably arranged upstream of the filter means.
In the filter according to the invention, because of the easily replaceable pre-filter, essential parts of the substances contaminating the medium to be cleaned are filtered out, so that the service life of the main filter which is decisive for the filter performance is considerably extended. This also leads to cost-effective operation, because the main filter, which determines the filter performance, entails much higher procurement costs than the easily replaceable but also easy-to-clean cyclone filter.
In order to improve the effectiveness of the filter, it is provided according to one embodiment of the invention that the filter means has the shape of a hollow cylinder, in the upper end of which the pre-filter is seated, which is designed as a hollow cylinder open at the bottom with a swirl generator arranged at its upper open end. In order to further improve the filter effect and to extend the service life of the pre-filter, the filter medium of the pre-filter should have a coalescing effect.
Die Zeichnung zeigt das Filter im Axialschnitt .The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to a drawing which represents an exemplary embodiment. The drawing shows the filter in axial section.
The filter shown in the drawing has a housing which consists of a head 1 with an inlet 2 and an outlet 3 and a pot 4 which can be connected tightly to the head 1. The inlet 2 opens axially and centrally in the pot 4, while the entrance to the outlet 3 is eccentric.
A pot-shaped filter element 5 is accommodated coaxially in the pot 4. The filter element 5 has a closed bottom 5a and a hollow cylindrical filter means 5b and a head 5c, with which it is tightly connected to the head 1 of the housing, so that the medium to be cleaned enters the interior of the cylindrical filter element and is forced, the cylindrical To flow through the wall of the filter medium 5b.
The filter element 5 is preceded by a pre-filter 6 in the form of a cyclone filter with a coalescing effect. The cyclone filter consists of a cylindrical filter means 6a open at the bottom and a swirl generator βb arranged at the upper end in the form of guide vanes. The arrangement is such that the gaseous medium flowing in via the inlet 2 is forced to pass the swirl generator 6b. The essentially linear flow turns into a rotating flow implemented so that when the gaseous medium travels further through the hollow cylindrical filter means 6a, liquid particles and solid particles are deposited on the filter means βa, in particular using the coalescence. This means that only the remaining impurities in the gaseous medium have to be filtered out by the main filter 5. The service life of the main filter 5 is therefore correspondingly longer. The exchangeable prefilter 6 should consist of an inexpensive and / or easy-to-clean filter material, so that the operating costs of the filter remain low even when the prefilter 6 is changed frequently.
