Description

The invention relates to a universal suspension device for bedding or for a seat, arranged between a support surface and a cushioning element.

It relates more specifically to a unitary suspension device for a bed base of the multi-element type, this device being intended to be interposed between a platform determining a bearing surface and a cushioning element such as a mattress, and having a base intended to be fixed on a platform element, a suspension structure fixed on the base and a plate carried by the suspension structure and serving as a support for the cushioning element, said suspension structure being of revolution around a vertical axis.

In general, these unitary suspension devices are arranged in rows and columns and fixed on rigid sleepers constituting the platform. Usually, these elements are symmetrical with respect to a transverse median plane and with respect to a longitudinal median plane, and the hardness is not uniform according to the inclination undergone by the plate.

The ends of these arms comprise fixing means on a ring of the base. After mounting these arm ends on the ring of the base the arms are in the form of sectors of a sphere, separated by lateral openings, but they are subjected to elastic stresses, and in case of rupture these fasteners, they must take a radial position.

Le problème qui se pose concerne l'étanchéité au niveau de ces trous.DE 29 903 423, which represents the state of the art closest to the invention, has already provided a spherical shaped hollow suspension structure made of a foam of an elastic synthetic material which has holes at its upper and lower ends. for fixing by clipping of the base and the plate. After mounting, the suspension structure is normally airtight, and operates like a balloon. The problem that arises is the sealing at these holes.

Based on this state of the art, the invention proposes a new type of suspension in which it does not pose a question of airtightness.

The invention achieves its object by the fact that the suspension structure alone is at rest in the form of a hollow and monobloc sphere having a plurality of sectors separated by lateral openings and made of a flexible synthetic material or rubber vulcanized hardness of which is between 40 A shores and 70 D scores.

Thus, only the wall of the suspension structure participates in the compression and bending forces, in the case of a load, and the inside of the structure is advantageously subjected to atmospheric pressure.

In order to facilitate the positioning of the plate relative to the base and to the platform element, the base comprises means for preventing its rotation relative to the platform element.

The suspension structure and the plate comprise cooperating means for ensuring their connection in traction and in rotation around the axis of revolution of said suspension structure. These means preferably comprise a bayonet fixing system and a clipping system.

The base and the suspension structure can be made in one piece. They can also be made in two separate rooms. In this case, the suspension structure and the base comprise cooperating means to ensure their connection in traction and in rotation about the axis of revolution of said suspension structure.

The link between the connecting structure and the base can be made in different ways, either by a dovetail slide system and a clipping system to lock the two parts together after assembly, or by a system of clipping and positioning a tenon in a mortise, either by a bayonet system combined with a clipping system, or by a gripper device guided by a slide during assembly, with an anti-rotation locking device which is positioned automatically at the end of editing.

In all cases, the mutual connection means are formed on the two parts during molding of the latter.

The suspension structure may be spherical and have sectors alternating with lateral openings regularly distributed around the axis of revolution of said structure. The dimensions and thicknesses of these sectors are calculated according to the desired stiffness.

To modify the stiffness of the suspension structure, the latter may comprise in its internal cavity a removable stiffening member disposed in its axis of revolution, said member advantageously having at its upper end a plug which accommodates in a through orifice formed in a head of fastening the tray formed at the upper end of the suspension structure.

This suspension device 1 is intended to be fixed on a cross member of a support platform, not shown in the drawings, and comprises essentially three elements: a base 2 intended to be fixed on a cross member, a suspension structure 3 mounted on the base 2 and a plate 4 supported by the suspension structure 3.

The tray 4 serves as support for a padding element, a mattress for example, not shown in the drawings. The suspension device 1 may further comprise a stiffening member 5 which makes it possible to modify the stiffness of the suspension device 1 according to the position of the latter in the bed base. The bed base comprises a plurality of suspension devices arranged in rows and columns juxtaposed.

The base 2, shown in detail in Figures 3 and 4, is made of a suitable rigid synthetic material, such as polypropylene or polyamide, by molding, or metal. It comprises a central orifice 6 allowing its attachment by means of a screw on a cross member, and on its lower face 2a, a stud 7 intended to be housed in a hole in the crosspiece, in order to prevent rotation of the crosspiece. base 2 after its fixation on the crosses. The base 2 further comprises, on its upper face 2b, two lateral tongues 8a and 8b which extend in the same direction parallel to the cross-member and a hole 9 disposed above the stud 7. The tongues 8a and 8b serve to retain the suspension structure 3, and the hole 9 serves to immobilize the suspension structure 3, in particular in rotation after mounting thereof, as explained below.

The suspension structure 3, shown in detail in Figures 5 and 6, is of revolution about a vertical axis X. It is made of a flexible synthetic material type TPE or vulcanized rubber. The hardnesses of the materials are adjusted to the loads to be supported. The hardnesses are preferably between 40 Shore A and 70 Shore D. The suspension structure 3 is in the form of a sphere which has three sectors 10a, 10b, 10c, separated by three lateral openings 11a, 11b, 11c, regularly spaced around the axis X. The circumferential extent of the sectors 10a, 10b, 10c and lateral openings 11a, 11b, 11c around the axis of revolution X is substantially equal to 60 °.

The sectors 10a, 10b, 10c connect a fixing head 12 of the plate 4, located in the upper zone of the suspension structure 3, to a cap 13 located in its lower zone. The cap 13 is generally flat and has on its upper face a thicker zone 14 which extends between the sector 10a and the opposite opening 11a. A tongue 15 is made by means of a U-slot in the thicker zone 14. A pin 16 is formed on the lower face of the tongue 15. The width of the thicker zone 14 is equal to the distance between the two tongues 8a, 8b of the base 2. The thickness of the cap 13 outside the thicker zone 14 is equal to the distance between the tongues 8a, 8b of the base 2 of the upper face 2b of this base. To mount the suspension structure 3 on the base 2, the openings 11b, 11c are presented in front of the ends of the tongues 8a and 8b, and the cap 13 is slid under the tabs 8a and 8b. The tongues 8a and 8b are guided by the edges of the thicker zone 14.

Le positionnement du téton 16 est évidemment calculé en fonction de la position du trou 9 par rapport à l'axe X.To raise the pin 16 of the cap 13 on the upper face 2a of the base 2, is exerted on its end a vertical force. When the cap 13 is fully engaged on the base 2, the pin 16 descends and is housed in the hole 9 of the base 2. The suspension structure 3 is then immobilized in tension by the tongues 8a and 8b which act as clamps and rotated about the axis X by the pin 16 which lodges in the hole 9. The positioning of the stud 16 is obviously calculated as a function of the position of the hole 9 relative to the axis X.

La tête 12 est raccordée aux secteurs 10a, 10b, 10c par un épaulement annulaire 21 servant de support au plateau 4.The head 12 of the suspension structure 3 is in the form of a neck having a through-orifice 17 in the X-axis. This head 12 is intended to be housed in a central orifice 18 formed in the plate 4. The peripheral wall of the head 12 is generally cylindrical and ends at the upper end of the suspension structure 3 by two radially opposite beads 19a and 19b. An axial rib 20 is formed on the peripheral wall of the head 12 under each bead 19a and 19b. The head 12 is connected to the sectors 10a, 10b, 10c by an annular shoulder 21 serving as a support for the plate 4.

It can also have any other geometric shape. The bottom line is that the forms of trays equipping a bed frame for example, are complementary and associated. The plate 4 can be made of any kind of material, especially thermoplastic, wood, or a multicomponent. It can be covered with fabric for aesthetic reasons. It preferably comprises a plurality of slots or openings for aeration of the upholstery element that it supports. Its central orifice 18 is adapted according to the dimensions of the attachment head 12 and the beads 19a and 19b. The central orifice 18 has diametrically opposed protuberances 22 which slide between the ends of the beads 19a and 19b during assembly of the plate 4 on the fixing head 12. Each protrusion 22 has a groove 23 intended to cooperate with a rib 20, after rotation of a quarter turn of the plate 4 about the axis X. The protuberances 22 are dimensioned axially and circumferentially so that after the pivoting of a quarter turn around the axis X the protuberances 22 are housed under the beads 19a and 19b, the grooves 23 cooperating with the ribs 20. This fixing device, said bayonet, is in itself known and does not deserve other explanations. The plateau 4 after mounting is immobilized axially and in rotation with respect to the suspension structure 3.

Lorsque l'organe raidisseur 5 n'est pas nécessaire, l'orifice 17 de la tête de fixation 13 est obturé par un capuchon 90 montré sur la figure 33.FIGS. 9 and 10 show in detail a monobloc stiffening member 5 produced by molding in a material similar to that used to produce the suspension structure 3. This stiffening member 5 is introduced into the X axis of the suspension structure 3 by the orifice 17 of the attachment head 12 of the plate 4. It comprises in particular at its upper end a plug 24 which closes the orifice 17. This plug 24 comprises means for its attachment in the orifice 17 by rotation of the stiffening member 5, for example, with respect to the suspension structure 3, during assembly. The stiffening member 5 is interposed between the cap 13 and the attachment head 12 of the plate 4. The stiffening member 5 ensures a hardening of the suspension in the box spring areas where the listed loads are the largest. When the stiffening member 5 is not necessary, the orifice 17 of the fixing head 13 is closed by a cap 90 shown in FIG.

The cap 13 of the suspension structure 3 has a uniform thickness and has opposite the lateral opening 11a a groove 30 which serves to guide a median wall connecting a tongue 31 formed on the upper face 2b of the base 2 to this base 2. The base 2 further comprises on its lower face 2a a quick fastening pin 32 on a cross member and two lateral hooks 33a, 33b which grip the edges of the cross member, and on its upper face 2b a device for clipping 34 facing the free end of the tongue 31, which immobilizes the suspension structure 3 relative to the base 2 after mounting. The fixing head 12 of the plate 4 is solid and comprises at its periphery a plurality of housings 35 in which are housed by clipping elastic fingers formed in the central hole of the plate 4, such as those described in the patent application FR 98 00187 of the applicant, and visible on the plate 4 shown in Figure 31.

The base 2 comprises a central orifice 6 for the introduction of a fixing screw on a crossbar and a pin 7 which emerges on its lower face 2a for its immobilization in rotation on the crosses. The base 2 may also have, on its lower face 2a, several lugs 7 aligned or a rib so as to allow a blind docking in a groove in the cross member for a fair and quick introduction of the base 2 on the platform determining the support surface. The suspension structure 3 is fixed on the base 2 by means of a bayonet device. For this purpose, the base 2 has on its upper face 2b three curvilinear hooks 40a, 40b, 40c directed towards the axis of the base 2, and the cap 13 has three hooks 41a, 41b, 41c directed radially towards the outside and cooperating by rotation about the X axis coincides with the axis of the base 2 with the hooks 40a, 40b, 40c. Ribs 42 formed above the hooks 41a, 41b, 41c cooperate with grooves 43 formed respectively on the hooks 40a, 40b, 40c to immobilize in rotation the suspension structure 3 relative to the base 2 after mounting. As seen in Figures 14 to 16, the attachment head 12 of the tray 4 is similar to that shown in Figures 11 and 12, but could be similar to that shown in Figures 2 and 6.

Figures 17 and 18 show a third embodiment of the invention. The base 2 has on its upper face two opposite hooks 44a, 44b directed radially outwardly which grip the walls closest to a rectangular opening 45 formed in the center of the cap 13 of the suspension structure 3 and dimensioned to allow the passage of the hooks 44a and 44b. The base 2 further has on the upper face two pins 46a, 46b which slide on circular ramps formed in the lower face of the cap 13 and are housed in holes in the underside of the cap 13 to lock the suspension structure 3 on the base 2 after its mounting by rotation of a quarter turn.

According to a fourth embodiment of the invention shown in Figures 19 to 21, the connecting means of the suspension structure 3 and the base 2 comprise a dovetail-shaped slide. For this purpose, the cap 13 of the suspension structure 3 has on its underside a rib 50 having a dovetail section which extends from the axis X to the edge of the cap 13, and which is likely to be slid into a rib 51 also having a dovetail section formed in the upper face 2b of the base 2. The base 2 further has on its underside 2a two parallel walls 52a, 52b between which is inserted a cross and a central pin 53 which is housed in a hole in the cross.

Figures 22 and 23 show a fifth embodiment of the invention. The cap 13 of the suspension structure 3 comprises a central hole 54 in which a half ball 55 is formed which is formed on the upper face 2b of the base 2. A post 56 is formed on the underside of the cap 13. This post 56 is housed in a mortise 57 formed in the upper face 2b of the base 2, and immobile in rotation the suspension structure 3 relative to the base 2. The base 2 further comprises side walls 52a and 52b and a stud 53, as for the fourth embodiment, for mounting and immobilization in rotation on a cross member.

According to a sixth embodiment of the invention, shown in Figures 24 and 25, the base 2 has on its upper face 2b a central orifice 6 for attachment to a cross member by a screw. This central orifice and surrounded by a rectangular structure 60 which is housed in a rectangular opening 61 formed in the center of the cap 13. The rectangular structure 60 is equipped with elastic tongues 62a and 62b which grip the rims of the rectangular opening 61 and that this is visible in Figure 24.

Figures 26 and 27 show a seventh embodiment of the invention. The cap 13 has on its underside a central ball 63 that can be slid in a radial groove 64 formed in the upper face 2b of the base 2. Other means not shown in Figure 27 can immobilize in rotation the suspension structure 3 relative to the base 2 after assembly.

Figures 28 to 31 show a second embodiment of the invention. This suspension device 1 also comprises a base 2 shown in FIG. 30, a suspension structure 3 of spherical shape shown in FIG. 29 and a square-shaped plate shown in FIG. 31. The suspension structure 3 has a head of FIG. fixing 12 of the plate 4, which has a cylindrical wall terminated by an annular bead 70, for retaining elastic fingers 71 provided in the inner wall of the central orifice 18 of the plate 4. The inner wall of this orifice 18 also has recesses 72 which straddle opposite radial ribs 73a and 73b formed in the upper part of the sphere at the foot of the head 12 to immobilize, in rotation about the axis X, the plate 4 relative to the suspension structure 3 after mounting.

The suspension structure 3 has in its lower hemisphere three sectors 10a, 10b and 10c separated by notches 11a, 11b, 11c of small circumferential extent. But compared to the first embodiment, the suspension structure 3 does not have a cap in its lower zone. The lower ends of the sectors 10a, 10b and 10c are free. The base 2 has under its underside side walls 52a and 52b between which is housed a cross member, and a pin 74 for its attachment to the cross member, and on its upper face 2b, a neck 75 flared upwards and consisting of three elements evenly spaced around the axis of the base 2 and each having on their outer face a rib 76 which extends upwards and whose circumferential dimension is equal to the width of a notch 11a, 11b and 11c . When elastically extending the lower ends of the sectors 10a, 10b and 10c to the outside, it is possible to cap the neck 75 by the lower part of the suspension structure 3, and in such a way that the ribs 76 are housed in the notches 11a, 11b and 11c.

Fig. 32 shows a third embodiment of the invention. Here the base 2 and the suspension structure are made in one piece. The base 2 has on its underside 2a two lugs 80a and 80b for quick attachment in holes formed on a cross member and optionally a stop 81 which bears against a side face of the cross member.

Il peut comporter une gravure ou un décor esthétique.FIG. 33 shows a cap 90 which comprises two tabs 91a and 91b which can slide in the space separating the beads 19a and 19b from the head 12 and the protuberances 22 of the plate 4, according to the first embodiment of the invention described. above, after pivoting a quarter turn of the plate 4 and its non-return snap. This cap 90 may be overmolded fabric or a piece of plastic material made by thermocompression. It can include an engraving or an aesthetic decoration.

Cette face supérieure 2b présente en regard des languettes latérales 8a et 8b des surépaisseurs 102a et 102b.FIGS. 34 to 38 show an eighth variant of the suspension device described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 10. The base 2 differs from that shown in FIGS. 3 and 4 in that it comprises on its periphery a recess 100 which extends between the free ends of the lateral tongues 8a and 8b. It also has on its underside 2a, along the recess 100, a bead 101 located above the bearing surface of the crosspiece. The upper face 2b of the base 2 is free of the hole 9 shown in FIG. 4. This upper face 2b has, next to the lateral tongues 8a and 8b, extra thicknesses 102a and 102b.

The suspension structure 3, adapted to this base 2 and shown in detail in FIGS. 37 and 38, comprises, like the suspension structure 3, shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, a thicker zone 14 on the upper face of the cap 13 which after mounting of the suspension structure 3 on the base 2 is disposed between the lateral tongues 8a and 8b, and on the underside of the cap 13 of the parallel ribs 103a and 103b which after mounting the suspension structure 3 on the base 2 are arranged between the extra thicknesses 102a and 102b of the upper face 2b of the base. The ribs 103a and 103b are disposed under the thicker zone 14 and are parallel to the lateral edges of this thicker zone 14. The suspension structure 3 furthermore has under the lower face of the cap 13, and to the right of the opening lateral 11a a hook 104 which engages in the recess 100 and whose end cooperates with the bead 101 to lock the suspension structure 3 on the base 2. This suspension structure 3 is similar to that shown in the figures 5 and 6, with regard to the sectors 10a, 10b, 10c, the lateral openings 11a, 11b, 11c and the head 12 for fixing a plate 4.

Figures 39 and 40 show a support 110 of a bedstead crosspiece end, shown in dashed lines, on which are mounted suspension devices 1, such as those described above, arranged side by side. This support 110 comprises a vertical wall 111 intended to be pressed against the inner face of a long panel and fixed on this long panel by screws passing through orifices 112a and 112b formed in the wall 111, or by tenons formed on this wall. vertical 111, or by an attachment angle resting on the upper face of the long pan. A cradle 113 extends horizontally from the lower region of the vertical wall 111. This cradle 113 has two end zones 114a and 114b curved upwards. The middle zone of the cradle 113 supports an elastic tongue 115 on which a cross-bar end rests. At the end of each curved zone 114a and 114b are provided two elastic elements, namely a lateral return 116 which abuts against a sidewall of the crossmember, and an inverted U-shaped elastic element 117 whose free end 118 bears on the upper face of the crossbar.

The end of the crossbar is introduced from above into the space delimited by the elastic tongue 115 and the ends of the lateral returns 116 and the elastic elements 117.

Lateral returns 116 pinch the flanks of the cross, ensuring the variability of the machining dimensions. The elastic elements 117 allow the height adjustment of the sleepers, while the resilient tongue 115 compensates for the differences in thickness of the sleepers and furthermore makes it possible to damp a set of suspension devices 1 fixed on the crosspiece.

In the different embodiments of the invention described above, the plate 4 has a quadrangular shape and is symmetrical with respect to longitudinal and transverse planes passing through the axis X. It is obvious that the trays 4 equipping the devices suspension 1 located on the edges of a bed frame can be equipped with trays 4 slightly different. In all cases, the fixing systems of the plate 4 on the head 12 of the suspension structure 3 will immobilize the plate 4 relative to the structure 3 in traction along the X axis and in rotation around the X axis It is the same for fixing systems of the suspension structure 3 on the base 2 and the latter on a cross member of the support platform.
