Abstract

The subject of the present invention is a high chair for children, capable of being transformed between a deployed state of use and a compact state of storage and/or transport, comprising a seat (12) of which an upper part comprises a back surface (32) facing forwards and a seat surface (30), a child restraint device in a seated position which is arranged inside the seat (12) and which delimits two locations each of which is crossed by a thigh of the child in a seated position;- and a set of legs comprising several legs fixed in a removable manner to the seat (12), characterized in that, for storing and/or transporting the high chair, a front face of the seat delimits at least one storage compartment capable of receiving at least partially the dismantled legs. CHILDREN’S HIGH CHAIR WITH REMOVABLE BASE Technical field of the invention

The present invention relates to a high chair for children, also called a baby high chair, or baby chair.

The invention relates more particularly to a high chair, capable of being transformed between an deployed state of use and a compact state of storage and/or transport.

Technical background

The present invention relates to chairs suitable for young children and which are used in particular for feeding the child.

We know of a first type of chair in the form of a booster seat which has the advantage of being easily transportable. On the other hand, it is often poorly equipped and not very comfortable. In addition, depending on the chair on which the booster seat is placed, it is more or less stable and may require greater supervision when a child is seated there.

Concerning the high chairs themselves, their shapes are very varied. However, they have in common that they can be used alone because they include a base structure and they have a shelf.

Furthermore, they generally offer more seating, and they include a footrest and/or greater support for the child's legs.

The main disadvantage of these high chairs is their bulk, which on the one hand makes their storage problematic and, on the other hand, makes them difficult to transport.

None of the known solutions aimed at reducing the bulk of a high chair is satisfactory, particularly with regard to the ease of transporting it when it is in its compact storage and/or transport state.

The invention proposes a high chair for children, capable of being transformed between an deployed state of use and a compact state of storage and/or transport, comprising:
- a seat, an upper part of which comprises a backrest surface facing forward and a seat surface;
- a device for restraining the child in a seated position which is arranged inside the seat and which delimits two locations, each of which is crossed by a thigh of the child in a seated position;
- and a base assembly, comprising several legs fixed in a removable manner on the seat,
characterized in that, for the storage and/or transport of the high chair, a front face of the seat delimits at least one storage housing capable of receiving at least partly the disassembled legs.

According to other characteristics of the invention:
- the seat has a lower part which extends downwards below the seating surface;
- the lower part of the seat extends in a plane forming an angle of between 52 and 54 degrees of angle relative to the plane of the seat surface;
- the disassembled and stored legs are received at least partly in said lower part of the seat;
- the child restraint device comprises a central zone in which the disassembled and stored legs are received at least in part;
- at least one leg includes a covering or at least one raised lug to constitute means capable of cooperating with surrounding elements of the central zone;
- said at least one storage housing capable of receiving at least in part the disassembled legs comprises means for maintaining the disassembled legs in the stowed position;
- said lower part of the seat and/or the retaining device comprises means for maintaining the disassembled legs in the stowed position;
- the means for maintaining the disassembled legs in the stowed position cooperate by tightening with a corresponding part of the legs;
- the device for retaining the child in a seated position comprises two arches fixed inside the seat, each of which cooperates with an associated part of the seat to delimit an annular location which is crossed by a corresponding thigh of the child;
- the disassembled and stored legs are received at least partly in a central zone of the retaining device located between two portions facing the two fixed hoops;
- at least one of said two facing portions comprises a boss to delimit said zone towards the front;
- at least one of said two facing portions comprises a recess in which the disassembled and stored legs are received at least in part;
- the seat has an upper part which delimits the backrest surface and which has a recess, through or not, forming a transport handle for the seat or high chair;
- at least the upper part of the seat is a hollow shell;
- the upper part and the lower part of the seat are made in one piece;
- a tablet which is fixed in a removable manner on the seat to occupy either a position where the tablet is used by the child, or a storage position in which it is fixed to an associated part of the seat and it closes at least partially said at least one storage housing capable of receiving at least in part the disassembled legs;
- in the storage position, the tablet is fixed in a removable manner at least partly on the lower part of the seat;
- the disassembled legs can be stored entirely inside the seat, at the front of it.

Detailed description of the invention

For the description of the invention and the understanding of the claims, we will adopt without limitation the vertical, longitudinal and transverse orientations according to the reference V, L, T indicated in the figures whose longitudinal axes L and transverse T extend in a horizontal plane.

By convention, the longitudinal axis L is oriented from back to front and the transverse axis T is oriented from right to left (Referring to the right and left legs of a child seated in the high chair) .

In the description which follows, identical, similar or analogous elements will be designated by the same reference numerals.

In the description which follows, each high chair has a general design symmetry with respect to a median vertical and longitudinal plane, corresponding to the sectional plane of the .

First example of realization

We show in Figures 1 to 4 a high chair 10 which is essentially constituted in the upper part of a seat 12 which is equipped with a device 14 capable of retaining a child (Not shown) in a seated position and a tablet 16 (also called table or tray), and in the lower part of a base assembly 18.

Without limitation, the seat 12, also called the body of the high chair 10, is here made by molding in a single piece of plastic. The seat is in the form of a molded sheet shaped in three dimensions.

The seat 12 here comprises an upper part 20 constituting the seating area itself which is shaped in a hollow shell with an interior face oriented towards the front 21 which is generally concave, while an opposite exterior face 23 oriented towards the The rear is generally convex.

The front interior face 21 of the upper part 20 of the seat 12 delimits a generally flat and horizontal seat surface 30 oriented upwards, and a generally vertical and concave back surface 32 oriented forwards to delimit between them the seating area in which a child can be seated in the seat 12 of the high chair 10.

As can be seen in particular in Figures 1 to 3, the seat 12 of the high chair 10 here comprises a lower part 34 which extends downwards from the front transverse edge of the seat surface 30.

The lower part 34 is produced by molding in one piece with the upper part 20 and it is of generally planar shape extending in an inclined transverse plane P1 which forms an acute angle "A" with respect to the plane P2 in which s extends the seating surface 30.

Angle “A” is between 52 and 54 degrees of angle, and is for example equal to 53 degrees of angle.

As can be seen in particular in Figures 1 to 3 and 8, the seat molded in one piece is here delimited by a continuous front peripheral edge 36 of rounded profile which surrounds the upper part 20 and the lower part 34.

The entire peripheral edge 36 which delimits the two upper parts 20 and lower 34 of the seat 12 extends substantially in an inclined plane corresponding to the inclined plane P1 of the lower part 34.

The peripheral edge 36 delimits an open front face of the seat 12.

At the level of the front transverse edge of the seat surface 30, in its central part, the seat 12 includes a base 38 for permanently fixing the child restraint device 14.

In its upper part 20, substantially at the level of the peripheral edge 36, the seat comprises two opposite housings 40, each of which is capable of receiving a complementary part of the retaining device 14 for permanently fixing the latter.

Substantially at the level of the upper central part 35 of the peripheral edge 36, the upper part 20 may include a recess 42, here through, which constitutes a carrying handle for the high chair, or the seat 12.

In its lower part 34, substantially at the level of the lower central part 37 of the peripheral edge 36, the lower part 34 comprises a hollow bulge 44 which delimits a lower storage housing L1 whose function will be explained further.

As can be seen in detail in , the housing L1 opens downwards facing a portion facing the lower central part 37 of the peripheral edge 36, the internal face 47 of which constitutes a stop surface.

In this exemplary embodiment, for mounting and fixing the legs of the base assembly 18, the upper part is provided on each right and left side with a lateral block 50 which is attached to a complementary hollow portion of the face rear in which it can be fixed either permanently, for example by screwing and/or gluing, or in a removable manner.

Each complementary hollow portion which houses a block 50 is delimited laterally by a wing 52 made in a single piece with the upper part 20.

Each side block 50 has two front 54 and rear 56 bores (See ) each of which is capable of allowing the fixing, here in a removable manner, of a front side leg 58 and a rear side leg 60 respectively.

Thus, the base assembly 18 comprises two front side legs 58 and two rear side legs 60.

Each front side leg 58 extends generally vertically downwards while being oriented longitudinally forwards and transversely outwards.

Each rear lateral leg 60 extends generally vertically while being oriented longitudinally towards the rear and transversely towards the outside.

Preferably, but not by way of limitation, two front lateral legs 58 and rear 60 belonging to the same side, left or right, of the high chair 10 extend laterally outwards in the same plane, and this plane forms a angle equal to approximately 10 degrees of angle relative to a longitudinal vertical plane.

Preferably, but not by way of limitation, the two front lateral legs 58 of the high chair 10 extend forward in the same plane, and this plane forms an angle equal to approximately 25 of an angle with respect to a plane vertical transverse, notably equal to 24.6 degrees of angle.

Preferably, but not by way of limitation, the two rear lateral legs 60 of the high chair 10 extend rearwardly in the same plane, and this plane forms an angle equal to approximately 20 degrees of angle relative to a transverse vertical plane, in particular equal to 20.5 degrees of angle.

For its removable attachment, each lateral leg 58, 60 is equipped at its upper part with a retractable radial finger 62 with automatic locking.

Each side leg 58, 60 is here made in a single cylindrical section, that is to say in a single piece.

As can be seen in particular in Figures 4, 5, 8 and 10, the retaining device 14 has a general “T” shape with a central vertical branch which, at its upper end, is extended by a generally horizontal upper branch.

More precisely and on a non-limiting basis, in the embodiment illustrated in particular in , the retaining device 14 comprises two symmetrical parts, each of which is in the form of a hoop 15 comprising a vertical branch 64 which, at its upper end, is extended by a horizontal branch 66.

At its free end, each horizontal branch 66 has a fixing lug 68 which is capable of being received in a housing 40 for permanently fixing the retaining device 14.

The two hoops 15 of the retaining device 14 are here connected together by a transverse bridge 70 to constitute a permanent fixing foot of the retaining device 14 on the base 38.

The two vertical branches 64 are spaced transversely from one another to delimit between them a central free space 63.

Substantially halfway up, each vertical branch 64 has a boss 65.

The two bosses 65 are opposite and face each other, extending inside the central free space 63.

As we can see in particular in the , behind the bosses 65, the vertical branches 64 and the inclined upper face of the trigger guard 70 delimit an intermediate storage housing L2 whose function will be explained further.

In the mounted and fixed position on the seat 12, the retaining device 14 - in cooperation with the parts facing the upper part 20 - delimits two locations 73, each of which is of generally annular shape and is capable of being crossed by a corresponding thigh of a child seated on the seat 12.

In addition to this function of restraining the child, the device 14 here provides a support function for the tablet 16 which, in the position in which the tablet is used by the child, is here fixed in a removable manner on the upper branches 66.

The shelf 16 is here made in one piece by molding in plastic material.

The shelf 16 has a generally flat upper face 72 for use and an opposite lower face 74 provided with reinforcing ribs 76.

The shelf is delimited by a peripheral edge 78, which is here continuous, with a rounded profile.

The profile and dimensions of the peripheral edge 78 are such that it is complementary to the rounded profile of the peripheral edge 36 of the seat 12.

Thus, the peripheral edge 78 is able to internally receive at least one section of the peripheral edge 36.

For its removable attachment to the retaining device 14, the shelf 16 has in its lower face 74 two boxes 82 arranged symmetrically and in the vicinity of the rear transverse edge of the shelf 16.

Each box 82 is open vertically downwards (considering the shelf in the mounted position in which it extends generally horizontally) and is shaped to accommodate a complementary part of a corresponding part of the retaining device 14.

More precisely, and as we can see in the , each housing 82 houses an upper end part of a vertical branch 64 and a central part of the horizontal branch 66 which extends it.

Thanks to the two boxes 82, the tablet 16 is mounted very stable and rigid on the retaining device 14.

Transversely on either side, the shelf 16 includes a fixing tab 88 allowing the removable attachment of the shelf 16 in the storage position on an associated part of the seat 12, and here for example on the lower part 34.

Each fixing tab 88 extends from the peripheral edge 78 and it comprises at its free end a hook 90 and an actuating tab 92 making it possible to act on the fixing tab and on the hook 90 to release it from a complementary zone, by elastically deforming the fixing tab 88.

In its free state, that is to say not hooked, each fixing tab extends generally transversely towards the outside of the tablet.

From this state, each fixing tab 88 can pivot relative to the peripheral edge, towards the lower face 74, i.e. up to a first angular position of attachment on the peripheral edge 36 of the seat 12, i.e. up to at a second angular position for maintaining the tab in a retracted state in which the hook 90 is fixed on a complementary hook 94 arranged opposite under the lower face 74. In this retracted state, the fixing tab 88 s extends generally horizontally under the shelf 16, it no longer projects and it cannot risk injuring a child sitting on the chair, or when the child is placed in or removed from the chair.

On a non-limiting basis, we have shown an example of fixing the shelf 12 in the storage position in which it is fixed in a removable manner on the front face of the lower part 34 of the seat 12.

More precisely, thanks to the fixing lugs 88, the shelf 16 is here fixed in a removable manner on the part of the peripheral edge 36 which delimits the lower part 34.

For fixing the shelf 16, the fixing lugs 88 with their hooks 90 are fitted by elastic deformation onto the peripheral edge 34.

To disassemble the tablet 16 for use, it is necessary to act on the actuating tabs 92 to release the fixing tabs 88 which can then be hooked under the tablet in their retracted position mentioned above.

As a variant not shown, the fixing of the shelf 16 in the storage position can be ensured by means of two opposite legs, each of which extends vertically, preferably rigid, and each of which is fitted or snapped into a complementary fixing slot. formed for this purpose through the peripheral edge 36.

Due to the complementary dimensions of the shelf and the lower part 34 of the seat 12, in this storage position, the shelf 16 closes a lower cavity open towards the front of the lower part 34. As can be seen in the , the lower cavity is here of shallow depth. Alternatively and as illustrated in , the lower part can include a lower cavity open towards the front of greater depth and which can be closed by a complementary shelf 16.

In other words, the shelf 16 closes the lower part of the front face of the seat.

The shelf 16 thus forms a closing cover for this cavity.

Advantageously, as can be seen in Figures 10 and 12, when the shelf 16 is fixed in a removable manner on the lower part 34, the shelf 16 participates in retaining the legs 58, 60 disassembled and stored.

As a variant not shown, it is possible to provide that, in the storage position, the shelf 16 is fixed in a removable manner on a part facing towards the rear of the seat 12.

For example, the shelf 16 can be fixed in a removable manner on the rear face 35 of the lower part 34.

This storage variant is particularly practical when the high chair is used without its shelf 16 which is stored and fixed in a removable manner, the child then being able to use the chair 10 without being hindered by the shelf 16 by freely positioning his legs along the the front face 33 of the lower part 34.

The design of a removable tablet 16 capable of occupying a storage position in which it is fixed in a removable manner makes it possible to have a compact state of the high chair in which the tablet remains fixed on the seat 12.

The design of the high chair 10, and more particularly of the seat 12 associated with removable legs 58 and 60, makes it possible to store each leg at least partially in a storage housing of the seat 12.

We thus have a compact state of the high chair in which the disassembled legs are stored in the seat 12 in order to facilitate the storage and/or transport of the high chair.

In the design example illustrated in particular in Figures 10 and 12, the four disassembled legs 58, 60 can be stored generally entirely inside the seat 12, at the front of it.

Advantageously, but not by way of limitation, the convenience of storing and handling the high chair is optimized when the disassembled legs are stored in the seat and when the tablet is fixed in a removable manner in the storage position on the seat (See ).

In the design example illustrated in Figures 1 to 14, the four disassembled legs 58, 60 can be stored generally entirely inside the seat, at the front of it.

More particularly, each leg 58, 60 can be received at least partly in the lower housing L1 and in the intermediate housing L2.

The two housings L1 and L2 are here shaped to be able to simultaneously accommodate the four legs 58, 60 which are adjacent to form a group 59 of legs 58, 60.

The legs 58, 60 can be stored individually one by one.

It is also possible to make the group 59 of several legs beforehand – for example by means of a suitable component not shown – and to store the group 59 of the legs 58, 60 in one go.

Thus, considering the orientation of Figures 12 and 18, a lower section of each leg is received in the lower housing L1 and its lower free end rests on the internal abutment surface 47.

As we can see in the , the lower housing L1 is shaped according to a profile adapted to that of all the lower sections of the legs 58, 60.

The lower sections can be received there with a slight tightening to ensure they are maintained in the stored position in this lower housing L1.

Alternatively and/or in addition, the lower housing L1 may include an elastically deformable covering, or thinnings and slots, so as to ensure that the lower sections are maintained in the stored position by elastically deformable means.

An intermediate section of each leg 58, 60 is received in the intermediate housing L2.

The intermediate housing L2 is delimited longitudinally towards the front by the bosses 65 which hold the intermediate sections in the intermediate housing L2 and prevent the legs 58, 60 from tilting towards the front.

The legs 58, 60 – individually or previously grouped – are for example introduced vertically from top to bottom by first crossing the intermediate housing L2, then the lower housing L1, until they come into abutment against the abutment surface 47 .

Alternatively, each boss 65, or the portion of the vertical branch 64 which carries it, can be elastically deformable to allow each intermediate leg section 58, 60 to be introduced generally in the longitudinal direction, from front to rear by crossing bosses 65.

It is then possible to first position the legs in the lower housing L1, then to insert them into the intermediate housing L2, by pressure.

According to a variant not shown, and in particular when the means for blocking or retaining the legs are provided only at the level of the lower housing L1, each leg 58, 60 - or at least one leg when they are secured in a group of legs - may include at least locally a covering or one or more raised lugs to constitute means capable of cooperating with surrounding elements of the intermediate housing L2 to prevent the disassembled and stored legs from sliding unintentionally according to their general orientation.

For example, at least one lug or two lugs spaced along a leg are able to cooperate with a boss 65.

According to a variant not shown, each vertical branch 64 has a recess. The legs 58, 60, disassembled and stored, are then received at least partly in the area delimited transversely by the two opposite recesses.

In all the embodiments envisaged, the seat can include several groups of housings for storing the disassembled legs themselves associated for example in groups of two legs.

Figures 13 and 14 show a variant of the first embodiment.

According to this variant, the side blocks 50 for fixing the legs 58 and 60 are made in a single piece with the seat, for example by molding in a single piece of plastic material.

Second example of realization

Figures 15 and 16 show a second embodiment of a high chair according to the invention.

This second example differs from the first example essentially in the following elements.

Mainly, in the storage position, the shelf 16 closes an upper cavity open towards the front of the upper part 20 of the seat 12.

In other words, the shelf 16 closes the upper part of the front face of the seat 12.

For this purpose, preferably but not limited to, the continuous front peripheral edge 36 delimits the front face of the upper part 20 of the seat 12 and also constitutes the front end edge of the upper part of the seat 12.

We thus have a storage cavity which can allow other elements to be stored there such as for example a plate, cutlery, a bib, etc., then to close this cavity with the shelf which forms a closing cover of this cavity.

As can be seen in Figures 15 and 16, the lower part of the seat 12 is made in the form of a complementary cavity open towards the front.

The child restraint device in the use position here consists of:
- by a vertical branch 64, also forming a foot for fixing the retaining device in the upper part of the seat 12; And
- by the shelf 16 which is here made in one piece with the vertical branch.

In the position of use by the child, each of the child's thighs extends through a location which is delimited by the upper part of the seat, the central branch 64 and the corresponding portion of the rear transverse edge of the table 16 .

In the storage position of the shelf 16, the central branch 64 is housed in the open cavity formed in the upper part of the seat 12.

For storing the disassembled legs, the seat 12 has a lower housing L1 of the same general design as that previously described, while the intermediate housing L2 is here made using through holes.

The bores for fixing the removable legs are here made in a single piece with the body of the high chair 10, but here in two different front and rear areas spaced from each other.

In addition to a recess 42 forming a handle, a strap 92 has also been shown allowing “over-the-shoulder” transport of the chair in its stored state.

Such a strap can also be provided in the context of the first embodiment.

In all versions and in particular depending on applicable laws and regulations, it is possible to provide an additional safety belt or harness.

In known manner, these security elements include flexible straps.

Advantageously, slots for the passage of such straps can be made directly through the skin constituting the hollow shell.

Claims (19)

High chair (10) for children, capable of being transformed between an deployed state of use and a compact state of storage and/or transport, comprising:
- a seat (12) of which an upper part (20) comprises a backrest surface (32) facing forward and a seat surface (30);
- a device (14) for restraining the child in a seated position which is arranged inside the seat (12) and which delimits two locations (73) each of which is crossed by a thigh of the child in a seated position;
- and a base assembly (18), comprising several legs (58, 60) fixed in a removable manner on the seat (12),
characterized in that, for the storage and/or transport of the high chair (10), a front face of the seat delimits at least one storage housing (L1, L2) capable of receiving at least in part the legs (58, 60) dismantled. High chair (10) according to claim 1, characterized in that the seat (12) has a lower part (34) which extends downwards below the seat surface (30). High chair (10) according to claim 2, characterized in that the lower part (34) of the seat (12) extends in a plane forming an angle (A) of between 52 and 54 degrees of angle relative to the plane (P2) of the seat surface (30). High chair according to one of claims 2 or 3, characterized in that the legs (58, 60) dismantled and stored are received at least partly in said lower part of the seat. High chair according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the child restraint device (14) comprises a central zone (L2) in which the legs (58, 60) dismantled and stored are received at least in part.
