Abstract

L'invention concerne un appareil (10) permettant de détecter des substances chimiques (114) dans un fluide et comportant un tube préconcentrateur (18) relié à une pompe bidirectionnelle (30) et à un détecteur (50). Le tube préconcentrateur (18) contient une matière absorbante (28) en contact thermique avec un élément de chauffage (82). La pompe bidirectionnelle (30) pompe le fluide dans une première direction (118, 112, 116a) à travers la matière absorbante (28), ce qui entraîne une accumulation de certaines des substances chimiques (114) sur un côté de la matière absorbante (28). La pompe bidirectionnelle (30) est inversée de sorte qu'elle pompe le fluide dans une seconde direction opposée (132, 134, 136), ce qui a pour effet de transporter les substances chimiques accumulées (114) vers le détecteur (50). La première pompe (30) pompe le fluide dans l'élément absorbant (18), recueillant ainsi les substances chimiques (114) sur la matière absorbante (28). L'élément de chauffage (82) chauffe l'élément absorbant (18) afin de désorber les substances chimiques (114) de la matière absorbante (28). Les substances chimiques (114) ainsi désorbées de la matière absorbante (28) sont ensuite amenées par pompage depuis l'élément absorbant (18) jusqu'au détecteur chimique (58). La matière absorbante (28) peut comporter une cavité contenant l'élément de chauffage (82). Dans une variante, l'élément de chauffage (82) peut être intercalé entre la matière absorbante (28) et une enceinte (18) entourant celui-ci.
