Description

The present invention relates to a device for separating flat products from a stack of flat products according to the preamble of claim 1.

Such a device is e.g. from US-4,157,692.

In the production of books, including brochures, magazines, magazines and the like, the use of gathering systems is known. These systems typically include a transport device on which individual flat products such as signatures or sheets are collected into a book block which is then processed and bound. Typically, a number of feeding devices are arranged along the transporting device so that with each feeding device a single flat product can be conveyed from a stack of products onto the transporting device. As a result, a book block is gradually created or an additional sheet inserted into a pocket of a pocket feeder or a newspaper placed in the pocket. Such feeders commonly use a separator for separating a product from the stack of flat products placed in each magazine of the feeder. The individual flat products are removed at the lower end of the stack.

Such a separation device is known for example from US 3,988,016. This document describes a high speed paper inserter for inserting inserts in newspapers. The inserts are arranged to form a stack and a vacuum gripper grips the lowermost insert to be loaded from the stack and carries it to a pair of rollers which passes the insert to an opened newspaper. In this case, a single sheet requires a different suction stroke than an insert of 120 pages or a pre-set partial product. The various suction drive requirements arise from the manner in which the sheets or part products must be arranged and controlled for proper separation. In general, the bottom of the stack is held by a platform, a so-called signature table with a recess that allows a sucker to pull a single product from the bottom of the product stack. If the nipple does not contact the product stack, the stack is held by a movable hook.

It is an object of the present invention to improve the known lifting hook so that the separation of the products is better supported.

This object is achieved by a device for separating with the features of claim 1.

According to one aspect of the present invention, an apparatus for separating flat products from a stack of flat products is provided with a plurality of needles arranged in at least one group of needles. Furthermore, at least one needle block is provided for fastening the needles, wherein each needle group is associated with a needle block. The needle block and the needle group can be moved from a closed position to an open position. In the closed position, the needles hold the bottom of a stack of flat products. Furthermore, an adjusting device for adjusting the position of each needle group is provided in each case.

According to another embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of needle blocks and groups of needles are provided.

Further features and advantageous embodiments of the present invention are the subject of the figures listed below and their descriptions.

Diese Luft kann durch die Eintrittsöffnung 34 dem Luftkanal zugeführt werden.FIGS. 1, 2, 1a and 2a show schematic side views of a sheet separating device according to the invention. A stack 10 of flat products, in particular sheets or signatures made of paper or plastic, is arranged in a magazine 12 and lies flat on a signature table 14. In order to pull out the bottom sheet 18 of the stack 10, a gap or a recess 16 on provided lower end of the stack 10. A lifting hook 20 is provided which holds the stack 10 when the lifting hook 20 is in the closed position as shown in FIG. The lifting hook 20 is movable from a closed to an open position (FIG. 2) in which the lifting hook 20 is preferably rotatably disposed about a pivot point 22. Therefore, it is possible to rotate the lifting hook 20 in the direction indicated by arrow A so that a sucker 24 can pull down the lowermost signature 18 of the signature stack 10. For this purpose, the sucker 24 is rotatably arranged about a pivot point 32 of the nipple and can be rotated in the direction indicated by arrow B direction. The nipple will temporarily attack the lowermost signature to perform this function. The lifting hook 20 may comprise an air channel 26 through which, as indicated by arrow C, Air can be supplied. This air can be supplied through the inlet opening 34 to the air duct.

In FIGS. 1 a and 2 a, the signature is applied to the front guide element or the end plate 30. During the transition between the closing and opening of the lifting hook and nipple, it is necessary to hold the signature stack with at least one needle or a plurality of needles 50 protruding in a closed position through an opening 51 (Figure 5) in the front guide member. Then it becomes necessary to remove or open the needles so that the sucker can draw the lowest signature. The needles are connected to the at least one or a plurality of needle blocks 52 by attachment or the like. The needle blocks and associated needles pass from an open to a closed position by rotation about a pivot point 54 and stationary blocks 55. The fixed blocks 55 further provide a support for the structure.

Adjusting the position of the needles, that is, the length by which the needles protrude through the faceplate, is important because the sucker, if misadjusted, can not properly remove the signature. However, if the needles protrude only slightly, they can not effectively support the signatures.

In order to achieve the optimum setting, two settings of the needle position are shown in FIGS. 3, 4a, 4b, 5 and 6. A single needle adjuster 60 is provided to adjust the position of each needle. A Nadelgruppeneinstellvorrichtung 62 is provided so that it adjusts the position of the needle groups 66, 68. The movement of each group of needles is transmitted by a control arm 70, 72.

A first adjustment device may have the structure of a set screw arrangement.

The second adjustment device is provided in connection with the control arms 70, 72. It can be seen that the needles are arranged in a plurality of groups 66, 68. Each group of needles has an associated needle block 52, one Needle group setting device 62 and a control arm 70. The needle group setting device 62 adjusts the position of a group of needles. Sometimes it may be useful to set more than one or a group of needles simultaneously by arranging the needles in groups with an associated needle block and array. The number of needles in each group may depend on the particular requirements; in the number shown is only an exemplary representation.

The group adjuster may be an adjuster of a number of adjusters that may be used for this purpose. It can e.g. a suitable threaded nut and screw arrangement, so that the rotation of one or the other of the mating threading devices, the movement of the group of needles in relation to the stationary block and the end plate is performed. For this purpose, it may be useful to carry out the adjustment of the group of screws by the control arm, so that the needles can be adjusted remotely, and perhaps even during operation of the press or maintenance time. Such a type of arrangement could be considered as an automatic or remote type of adjustment of the needles or groups of needles. As those skilled in the art will appreciate, many variations of the concepts presented herein are possible and will be considered in the description. For example, the adjuster may be remotely controlled by a controller having an electronic interface that controls a mechanical drive element as shown in FIG.

It is to be understood that the present invention has been described by way of example only and changes in the details should be understood by those skilled in the art and are possible within the scope of the invention.
