Abstract

Apparatus and methods are disclosed for releasably securing a retractable shoulder stock relative to the casing of a firearm. The retractable shoulder stock includes a slide rail which is displaceable relative to the casing. The slide rail defines a recess. The shoulder stock also includes a catch lever which is mounted for rotation about an axis. The catch lever has a peripheral surface that can be manually engaged to rotate the catch lever about the axis. The catch lever is positioned to selectively engage in the recess to releasably lock the slide rail in a first predetermined position.

Description

The invention relates to a shoulder rest for a handgun and a locking lever for such a shoulder rest.

The following terms, such as "front", "Above", "Left" etc. refer to one when a horizontal shot properly positioned weapon, the direction of the shot is forward. The same applies to corresponding directions ("forward", "up", "to the left" etc.).

Self-loading rifles or submachine guns often have one extendable shoulder rest, which is attached to guide rods and can be secured by means of a locking mechanism. at US Pat. No. 3,570,162, for example, is the shoulder rest attached to a rod that is longitudinally displaceable in a tube is led. A holding claw penetrates the Pipe wall and engages in corresponding notches in the rod one so that the shoulder rest is inserted and extended Location can be secured. U.S. Patent 4,383,384 also shows an extendable shoulder rest. This is over two there parallel rods guided, one of which via a locking pin is lockable, which in corresponding recesses the rod engages.

In addition, an adjustable shoulder rest is known from US Pat. No. 3,137,958 known, the two parallel, extendable Rods is guided. The bars have notches, in which engages a locking body displaceable transversely to the rods and thus secures the shoulder rest in its position. a another adjustment mechanism is shown in US Pat. No. 5,367,812, where the poles attached to the shoulder rest over screwable links are extendable.

Finally, from DE 88 07 539 U1 is a shoulder rest known with a receiving tube in which a support rod or a support tube telescopically displaceable and lockable is. The locking is done by locking screws, the one in the desired position Engage in the longitudinal groove of the support rod or support tube.

These known arrangements have the disadvantage that the A certain amount of shoulder support even when secured Game has, which increases the stability of the weapon as they about the need to fire targeted fire becomes.

A much cheaper solution has been found in DE 1 225 517 known shoulder rest of the applicant: this is attached to running rails, which are by a rotatable locking member at the end of the weapon housing are lockable. Locking lugs reach for this this link in corresponding recesses in the running rails a, and preferably so that this in the radial direction be clamped to the axis of rotation of the locking member. By tightening the shoulder rest points in the locked Condition of increased stability with the a one-piece, rigid rifle butt is comparable.

In a preferred embodiment, this shoulder rest is the locking member as an annular base body trained and inside the gun case on a sleeve-shaped housing mounted. The locking member then stands with one stored outside the gun housing, with an operating wing provided operating ring engaged, via which the locking member can be actuated is. The construction is extremely robust and reliability and has been in use for years proven, for example with the G3 rifle of the German Bundeswehr. The Shoulder rest in particular is also capable of high To absorb forces, such as for firing of grenades is required.

However, the advantages mentioned also have disadvantages yourself. So the construction is due to the massive, cylindrical Structure relatively bulky and heavy. she therefore appears oversized for certain applications, for example with light submachine guns or others Weapons that do not have such high stability requirements.

The object of the invention is a further shoulder rest specify the more appropriate for the above-mentioned use cases is.

It would have been obvious here, the locking element the applicant's shoulder rest described above (DE 1 225 517) to be dimensioned accordingly smaller and by changed proportions more space-saving and easier to design. By using lighter materials additional weight can be saved.

However, the invention takes a different approach: the locking member is developed in such a way that it is direct from the outside can be gripped and rotated by hand, especially when it is inside the gun case is stored. Intermediate links, like the one mentioned above Actuating ring, omitted. The axis of rotation of the Locking member substantially in the longitudinal direction of the Hand gun arranged.

In particular, the invention according to claim 1 Shoulder rest ready, which has the following features: at least one running track that together with the shoulder rest is displaceable relative to the weapon housing, and at least a locking lever which is essentially around the Longitudinal axis of the handgun rotatably and directly is manually operable over its outer circumference, wherein the running rail can be locked by the locking lever by this into a corresponding recess in the running rail engages, and thereby the shoulder rest in the respective Location is secured.

In addition, the invention provides a corresponding one Locking lever for engaging in recess (es) the at least one track of such Shoulder rest ready.

Under "track" is in connection with the invention understood any type of guide element that is suitable is, the shoulder rest is slidable with the weapon housing connect to. It is preferably a rod-shaped or tubular body with any profile cross-section, in a corresponding recess or Indentation of the gun housing is slidably mounted. Due to the movability of the running track within it Guidance in or on the gun housing can be attached to it Shoulder rest inserted or pulled out.

In this context, "manually operable" means that the locking lever by hand, preferably without the use of tools, is rotatable so that the running rail locked against moving or made movable again becomes. By locking the running rail against displacement the attached shoulder rest in the respective Location secured.

According to the invention, the locking lever is "over its outer circumference" actuated. The outer circumference relates to the Axis of rotation of the locking lever and represents its periphery. It is not absolutely necessary that the locking lever gripped on its entire outer circumference for turning can be, but preferably only on a designated, certain part of it. The actuation of the locking lever takes place "immediately" over the outer circumference, i.e. this is immediately accessible and is cohesive in connection with the part of the locking lever which is in the recess the running rail engages.

According to the invention, the running rail is locked against displacement, by turning the locking lever into a rotary motion engages corresponding recess of the running rail. The The axis of rotation of the locking lever extends essentially in the longitudinal direction of the handgun so that the Locking lever rotatably mounted transversely to the longitudinal direction of the weapon is. Depending on the geometry of the weapon, it can also be advantageous, the axis of rotation in a different Order direction.

In a preferred embodiment (according to claim 2) the locking lever in the direction of rotation intended for locking loaded by a spring so that it is underneath the running rail Pressure is present. The handling of the shoulder rest is then particularly easy, since the locking lever only has to be released the lock must be operated manually while the new one The track is locked automatically. Because due to the load of the spring, the locking lever engages when overflowing. a recess automatically into this.

The locking lever and the recess in the running rail can be designed arbitrarily. It is crucial that the Locking lever is a counterpart suitable for locking the running rail represents the recess. The recess is preferred (According to claim 3) designed so that they Running rail in the transverse direction of the handgun. This is particularly advantageous in the event that the Locking lever, as described above, transversely to the longitudinal direction the weapon is rotatably mounted. The locking lever can then do so engage in the recess so that it is over the entire width the running rail lies against this. In one particularly preferred embodiment (according to claim 4) is the Locking lever extended in the radial direction to its axis of rotation, that its outer circumference overlaps in this direction the end of the recess extends. The extended one Part of the outer circumference is then on the side of the running rail over and provides a good starting point for manual Operation by the shooter. If necessary, the The outer circumference should also be extended to the side protrudes from the gun case.

It is for the easiest possible actuation of the locking lever - regardless of the orientation of its axis of rotation - advantageous, if the locking lever is a handle, like a trough-like Recess or a nose-shaped projection, to be gripped by the shooter. The outer circumference the locking lever is therefore preferred (according to claim 5) at least one place for such a handle.

When not in use or when transporting the weapon, it is from Advantage if the shoulder rest extends to the end plate of the Gun housing can be inserted, preferably so that it on this. This position is here below referred to as "rest position". The weapon is used the shoulder rest from its rest position to one Pulled out position that allows the shooter, the Put the weapon on your shoulder to aim (in the following Called "position of use"). With many weapons, it is sufficient to provide a rest and a use position.

However, it may also be appropriate to use several divisions to be provided, for example around the different arm length different shooters. Then it's on the corresponding places additional recesses on the Track to provide the shoulder support in the different Secure use positions. The shoulder rest can be adjusted to different lengths.

The track thus preferably has (at least according to claim 6) two recesses, such that the shoulder rest in a rest position and in at least one position of use can be secured. Here is the shoulder rest particularly preferred in its rest position (according to claim 7) Loaded by a spring that strives to support the shoulder rest out of their rest position towards the at least to press a position of use. This moves the shoulder rest automatically from its rest position as soon as the track is blocked by appropriate Operation of the locking lever is canceled. the Protecting the shoulder rest will protect in this way relieved, since he then when operating the locking lever do not pull the shoulder rest at the same time got to.

Starting from a simple design of the shoulder rest with a running rail and a locking lever, the shoulder rest can depending on the intended use. An arrangement with two has proven particularly advantageous Exposed rails, both by a single Locking levers are lockable. With this arrangement it is without further possible to use the shoulder rest with one hand Moving to unlock. The axis of rotation of the locking lever is preferred (according to claim 8) between the two Running rails arranged, preferably in the longitudinal direction of the Weapon, wherein the locking lever is designed so that it on the top of the first track and at the same time the underside of the second track. To lock the locking lever then engages in the two running rails Recesses on the top and bottom of the Rails on. In this arrangement "crosswise" is the Locking lever preferably spring-loaded, so that the running rails braced against each other and against their leadership in the gun case are. The stability of the shoulder rest is thereby higher, so that the firing of targeted shots is possible is. In addition, the shoulder rest is then on two sides spring-loaded, namely from above and below. This is reduces the risk of the shoulder rest from impact or blows, such as when the shooter moves in a difficult way Terrain from which it is secured.

When arranged crosswise, the locking lever and / or the recesses are preferably configured in accordance with claim 9, that the rails - when engaging the locking lever into the recesses - in the radial direction to the axis of rotation of the locking lever. This increases stability the shoulder rest additionally and can for example can be achieved in that the recesses inclined surfaces have against which the spring-loaded locking lever presses. Depending on whether the inclined surfaces on the outside or Are inside the rails, these are then in Direction pressed against or away from each other.

The shoulder rest according to the invention is, as already described, unlocked by the locking lever from the shooter is manually twisted so that it no longer fits into the corresponding Recess (-en) of the running rail (-n) engages. The shoulder rest can then be moved. Holds up Protect the locking lever in its twisted position can not (even if it is spring loaded) in the Snap the next recess (s) into place. This allows it to be under Circumstances happen that the shooter unintentionally the Shoulder rest completely from its guide in the weapon housing pulls out. This can now be done, for example, by a increased heel at the end of the running track can be prevented, against which the locking lever also in its twisted position runs. The preferred countermeasure for this is (according to Claim 10) a spring-loaded securing element is provided, that automatically when pulling out the shoulder rest engages in a recess provided in the running rail. The shoulder rest will be the same or at least similar way as through the locking lever in their Position secured and cannot be pulled out any further. If necessary, the securing element can be designed in this way be that it is in several recesses simultaneously one or more tracks engages.

The securing element blocks the movement of the shoulder rest preferably in their outer position of use, that is in the use position, in which the shoulder support is maximal is pulled out. The shooter can then use the shoulder rest additionally secure with the locking lever by moving it in Turns back engagement position or the locking lever simply lets go when it is spring loaded. To push it in again the shoulder rest as easy as possible shape, it is advantageous if the securing element does not have to be solved for this. The securing element and / or the associated recess (es) are therefore preferred (According to claim 11) designed so that a pushing in the shoulder rest not through the securing element is hindered.

In order to remove the shoulder rest despite the securing element The securing element is possible without great effort preferably (according to claim 12) by the shooter manually releasable, in such a way that the locking of the running rail will be annulled. The shoulder rest is therefore in case of need Easily removable from the shooter, for example when it is through damage in battle interferes with the shooting process. A tool is preferably used to loosen the securing element required to inadvertently remove the shoulder rest to avoid.

For a compact structure of the weapon, it is advantageous if the locking lever and possibly also the securing element are housed inside the gun case. These are therefore preferred (according to claim 13) as integral Formed part of the end plate of the gun housing.

The statements made above for the shoulder rest apply also for the locking lever according to the invention (according to claim 14) and its advantageous embodiments (according to claim 15).

The invention will now be explained in more detail using exemplary embodiments. The attached schematic drawing shows:

Die Laufschienen 3a, 3b weisen an ihren hinteren Enden, nahe der Schulterkappe 5, weitere Ausnehmungen 23a und 23b auf, die in analoger Weise zum Sichern der Schulterstütze in eingefahrener Stellung, d.h. in Ruhestellung, dienen.1 shows a shoulder rest 1 according to the invention Submachine gun, not shown, with two runners 3a and 3b, the rear ends of which at one Shoulder cap 5 are attached, which the two rails 3a, 3b connects together. The two tracks 3a, 3b pass through appropriately designed openings 7a and 7b of an end plate 9 of the weapon housing. The Running rails 3a, 3b are through the openings 7a, 7b as well further, not shown guides of the gun case in Longitudinally mounted weapon. One in the End plate 9 integrated locking lever 11 engages at the same time in recesses 13a and 13b of the rails 3a and 3b so that they are locked against moving (for Visualization of the engagement of the locking lever 11 in the recess 13b is the end plate 9 in Fig. 1 at one point 14 shown broken out). The shoulder rest 1 is on this way secured in the position of use shown. In this position, the rails 3a, 3b about 200 mm to the rear from the end plate. The then front parts of the runners still stored in the weapon housing 3a, 3b are sufficient with about 100 mm Length to be securely supported in the gun case. This gives the shoulder rest 1 additional in the use position Stability. The rails 3a, 3b have on their rear ends, near the shoulder cap 5, further recesses 23a and 23b, which are used for securing in an analogous manner the shoulder rest in the retracted position, i.e. in Rest position, serve.

Furthermore, a locking lever 15 is integrated in the end plate 9, which engages in a recess 25 of the running rail 3b and to describe its function in more detail below is.

Fig. 2 shows a cross section through the end plate 9 along the line I-I. The locking lever 11 is on a bolt 17 free of play and rotatably mounted on the end plate 9 is attached and the central axis of the axis of rotation of the Locking lever 11 represents. The bolt 17 lies exactly between the two rails 3a, 3b, so that the axis of rotation of the locking lever 11 concentric with the rails 3a, 3b is arranged. The locking lever 11 has flat spots 11a and 11b with which he is on the top of the track 3a or on the underside of the running rail 3b. The Locking lever 11 is loaded by a spring 19 which with its one end in a blind hole 11c of the locking lever 11 is stored and with its other end against the end plate 9 supports. The force of the spring 19 acts on the locking lever 11 a torque counterclockwise, which in turn the rails 3a and 3b through the Locking lever 11 are pressed down or up. The Rails 3a, 3b are against each other in this way and braced against their guides in the gun case. The Game of the rails 3a, 3b is thus reduced and the Stability of the shoulder rest 1 increased.

The recesses 13a, 13b and 23a, 23b are transverse to Grooves formed in the longitudinal direction of the weapon, which the associated rails 3a, 3b each in their Enforce width. The rails 3a, 3b both have a substantially rectangular cross-section on the the outer side is slightly bent outwards. The shape favors the torsional stiffness of the shoulder rest 1, and at the same time takes up little space in the Width. The locking lever 11 lies with the flat points 11a and 11b over the entire width of the running rails 3a and 3b on and is therefore also when moving the tracks 3a, 3b securely on this. It is therefore on the running rails 3a, 3b no longitudinal grooves or the like for guidance of the locking lever 11 required. The manufacture of the Running tracks are therefore correspondingly easier and less expensive.

In the illustration shown, the shoulder rest 1 is like described above, secured in the use position, that is the locking lever 11 engages in the recesses 13a, 13b Running rails 3a, 3b. To release the lock, the Locking lever 11 against the force of the spring 19 clockwise can be rotated out of the recesses 13a, 13b. The running tracks 3a, 3b can then be used to insert the shoulder rest 1 be pushed into the weapon housing. Will the Locking lever 11 during insertion of the shoulder rest 1 released, it rests on the force of the spring 19 the top of the track 3a and the bottom of the Track 3b until it is pushed in further appeared 3a, 3b automatically in the two recesses 23a, 23b engages. The shoulder rest 1 is then in her Rest position secured in which the shoulder cap 5 in is a short distance from the end plate 9.

To grab the locking lever 11 for the shooter simplify, this is on the side of the track 3a extended, so that its outer circumference on this Page in the form of a handle 11d from the end plate 9 of the Gun case protrudes. The outer circumference extends thus at this point over the outer ends of the recesses 13a and 23a (and the weapon case). The Handle 11d has a trough-like depression and a corrugated surface (see Fig. 2), so that the Locking lever 11 easily gripped there by the shooter with his finger and can be operated.

From Fig. 2 it can be seen that the handle 11d integrally is connected to the contact surfaces 11a, 11b, So these parts to one component, namely the locking lever 11, are integrated. Consequently, there are no intermediate links or the like is required. The construction of the shoulder rest 1 is therefore compared to the known solutions significantly simplified, which saves space and weight can be. The invention is therefore characterized by a very compact and lightweight design made from what they in particular suitable for submachine guns and light machine guns makes. So is that shown in Figures 1 and 2 Shoulder rest 1 intended for a submachine gun, the Total weight is around 1.5 kg.

The locking lever 15 is, in an analogous manner to the locking lever 11, free of play and rotatably mounted on the bolt 17 and clockwise by a spring 29 in the direction of rotation loaded (see Fig. 2). By the force of the spring 29 lies the safety lever 15 on the top of the running rail 3b and engages in the position shown in the recess 25 a. The recess 25 passes through the groove Track 3b in the transverse direction and runs on its rear Side in the form of an inclined surface. Thereby the safety lever 15 slides when the running rail is inserted 3b without further action from the recess 25. This it is ensured that the safety lever 15 the Inserting the shoulder rest 1 is not hindered. The function the locking lever 15 is now in that the Do not inadvertently protect the shoulder rest 1 can pull out completely. This could happen if the shooter keeps the locking lever 11 pushed up, while pulling the shoulder rest 1 out. The locking lever 11 cannot then engage in the recesses 13a, 13b, so that the rails 3a, 3b completely out of their guides could slide out in the gun case. In this Fall prevents the locking lever 15 a complete Pull out the shoulder rest 1 by being under the load the spring 29 engages automatically in the recess 25.

The running rail 3b is then against displacement in the pull-out direction locked and the shoulder rest 1 against another Pulled out secured.

In the event that the shooter intentionally uses the shoulder rest wants to remove the lock by the safety lever 15 pick up. To do this, he must use the safety lever 15, in an analogous manner to the locking lever 11, against the force press the spring 29 upwards so far that this no longer engages in the recess 25. Around the shoulder rest 1 to be able to pull out for complete removal, then he has to lock the running rail 3a lift the locking lever 11 in the manner described above.

Als Ansatzpunkt dazu dient eine kerbenartige Vertiefung 15a an der Unterseite des Sicherungshebeis 15.In contrast to the locking lever 11, the locking lever 15 stands not out of the gun case, so that it from the shooter cannot be grasped by hand. The safety lever 15 is from the outside through a slot-like opening 27 accessible in the end plate 9, but this opening 27 is too narrow for the shooter to reach in with a finger could. This will inadvertently release the safety lever 15 avoided. An intentional release of the Locking lever 15 is still easier because of this from shooting with any pointed tool can be pressed at the top. A starting point is a notch-like depression 15a on the underside of the safety lever 15th

Fig. 3 shows a sectional view of a partial view of a another shoulder rest 1 'according to the invention in the rest position. The shoulder rest 1 'is in this position secured by a locking lever 11 'on a bolt 17 'is rotatably mounted. Structure and functioning of this Shoulder rest 1 'largely correspond to that explained above Shoulder rest 1, only that individual parts are different Have shape (functionally equivalent parts are therefore with the provided with the same reference numbers, but for the purpose of differentiation additionally apostrophized).

Bei der gezeigten Schulterstütze 1' entspricht dies einer Wegstrecke von etwa 2 mm.The main difference between the shoulder rests 1 and 1 'is that the shoulder cap 5' of the shoulder rest 1 'has a blind bore 31 in which a spring 33 is mounted, which is supported against a bolt 35. The bolt 35 slidably mounted in the blind bore 31 has a paragraph at its rear end and penetrates with its front end one on the shoulder cap 5 ' attached intermediate plate 37. In the rest position shown. the shoulder rest 1 ', the spring 33 is compressed, so that it exerts a force on the bolt 35 End plate 9 '(or the shoulder cap 5') exercises that endeavors is, the shoulder rest 1 '. their resting position to move backwards (to the right in FIG. 3). Now the securing of the shoulder rest 1 'by actuation the locking lever 11 'lifted (in an analogous manner as in the shoulder rest 1), the spring 33 presses over the Bolt 35 the shoulder cap 5 'to the rear. The shoulder rest 1 'is thus when the locking lever 11' is actuated automatically moved from its rest position by the spring 33, to the extent that the bolt 35 with its rear shoulder runs up against the intermediate plate 37. In the shown Shoulder rest 1 'corresponds to a distance of about 2 mm.

This automatic movement of the shoulder rest 1 'from your Rest position has the advantage that the shooter when Do not release the locking lever 11 'at the same time Must pull shoulder cap 5 'backwards. In this way is a one-handed operation of the shoulder rest 1 'easy possible. It also avoids that the shooter itself the actuation of the locking lever 11 'by excessive Pulling on the shoulder cap 5 'difficult.
