<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

DESCRIPTIVE MEOHIRE in support of an application for a PATENT OF INVENTION "Shoulder stock with adjustable position for small arms a"
The invention relates to a shoulder stock with adjustable position, applicable in particular, but not exclusively, to small arms such as submachine guns.
It is known to equip such weapons with a metal butt or the like. However, these are fixed stocks whose distance between the butt of the butt and the trigger of the weapon is rarely suitable for the length of the gunner's arm. Therefore, the weapon cannot be used with all the desirable efficiency.
The present invention specifically relates to a stock assembly for the weapons considered above, which allows the user to instantly modify the distance between the butt heel and the trigger, in order to adapt it to his personal convenience.
For this purpose and according to the invention, the stock is slidably mounted on the body of the weapon itself, elastic locking means being provided to immobilize this stock in the chosen position.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
By way of example, a preferred embodiment of the subject of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a side view of a stock according to the invention applied to the body of a light weapon, the profile of which is shown in phantom.
Fig. is a top view of the weapon fitted with the same stock.
Fig. 3 shows on a larger scale a section taken along line IIIIII of FIG. 2, looking in the direction of the arrows x - x.
Fig. 4 is a similar view, in section taken along line IV-IV of FIG. 2.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary top view of FIG. 4, showing the stock locking device in the chosen position.
As shown in these various Figures, the stick according to the invention is constituted by a steel wire or rod 10, preferably of circular section and in one piece, folded back on itself so as to have two rectilinear portions 10a and 10b, the rod part 10 joining these two rectilinear portions being curved to form the heel 10c and the butt lip 10a
The two rectilinear portions 10a, 10b are guided to slide in lugs 11 presented by a cradle 12 fixed, by any suitable means, to the tube 3 surrounding the barrel of the weapon, as well as in lugs 14 and 14 respectively integral of the same tube 13.
Fig. 2 shows in particular that the rectilinear part 10b. of the butt is provided with notches or notches 15 in which can engage a pawl or spout 16 carried by a rocking lever 17 articulated at 18 in a groove 19 presented by an extension of the lug 14a. The rocking lever 17 is subjected to the antagonism of a spring 20, resting in the bottom of the groove 19, which ensures the automatic engagement of the pawl 16 in that of the notches 15 located in front of the nose of the pawl.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Given this arrangement, it will be understood that a simple pressure of the finger exerted on the free end of the lever 17. which is presented as a pusher, will have the effect of releasing the spout 16, thus allowing a sliding of the assembly. of the stock to bring it into another position determined by the other notches 15 and in which it will be automatically locked by the action of the spring 20 of the lever 16.
It should be noted, as shown in FIG. 2, that the notches 15 for immobilizing the butt are present, in this FIG., Only in number of three. Although it is obvious that these notches 15 can be provided in any other number, without departing from the idea of the invention, it has been found that practically two notches having a spacing such as that shown in the drawings is sufficient for ensure a stock adjustment satisfying the differences in arm length which may be encountered in users of such weapons.
The third notch or notch 15, relatively distant from the other two, makes it possible to bring the heel 10 bow substantially closer to the weapon itself, and to lock the stock in this position, with the aim of facilitating the carrying of the weapon. weapon under the arm when not in use. Of course, these locking notches 15 may be provided in any other number or locations which may be deemed desirable.
It should of course also be understood that the stock described above and illustrated in the drawings as being formed of a single rod or wire bent and bent to give it the shape shown in FIG. 1, could just as easily be established by means of a stick made of wood or other material made integral with two sliding rods such as the rods 10a and 10b considered above.
