Claims (15)

  1. Method of inserting a fastener (3) into a plate or strip (1) of flexible material intended to form a package and equipped with a rectilinear groove (2) provided with two lips (2a, 2b) which partially close the said groove and between which the said fastener (3) is to be introduced, comprising the following steps: bending the plate or strip (1) transversely relative to the direction of its groove (2) so as to spread its lips (2a, 2b) apart, introducing the fastener (3), substantially re-flattening the said plate or strip (1) so that the said lips (2a, 2b) resume their initial positions and moreover displacing the plate or strip (1) in the longitudinal direction (F) relative to its groove (2) during the transverse bending and re-flattening operations.
  2. Method according to claim 1, characterised in that, before it is bent, the plate or strip (1) is guided by at least one means introduced into its groove.
  3. Method according to one of claims 1 to 2, characterised in that the fastener (3) is held in position in the bottom of the groove by pressing against the said fastener during the re-flattening operation.
  4. Method according to one of claims 1 to 3, characterised in that the lips (2a, 2b) of the groove are flattened out after the re-flattening of the plate or strip (1).
  5. Method according to one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the fastener used is in the form of a strap (3) or the like.
  6. Device for continuously inserting a fastener (3) into a plate or strip (1) of flexible material intended to form a package and equipped with a rectilinear groove (2) provided with two lips (2a, 2b) which partially close the said groove and between which the said fastener (3) is to be introduced, including a means (8, 9) for bending the plate or strip (1) transversely, a means (11, 12) for introducing the fastener and a means (15, 16) for re-flattening the plate or strip (1), characterised in that it also includes means (19) for driving the plate or strip (1) in the longitudinal direction relative to its groove (2).
  7. Device according to claim 6, characterised in that the bending means is formed by two superimposed wheels (8, 9), the rims of which have respectively a concave face and a substantially convex face, the plate or strip (1) being intended to pass between the said wheels, its groove (2) being directed towards the wheel (8) with a concave rim.
  8. Device according to claim 7, characterised in that the means for introducing the fastener (3) is formed by a guide ramp (11) for feeding the said fastener, the end of the said ramp reaching the vicinity of the bending wheels (8, 9) and between the latter, and by a circular rib (12) formed on the concave wheel (8) so that the said rib (12) can press against the fastener (3) during the bending operation.
  9. Device according to one of claims 6 to 8, characterised in that the means for re-flattening the plate or strip (1) includes straightening flanges (13) passing gradually from an oblique position to a substantially plane position.
  10. Device according to claim 9, characterised in that it moreover includes a means for holding the fastener in position, provided above the straightening flanges (13) in the form of a small bar (14).
  11. Device according to one of claims 6 to 10, characterised in that it moreover includes an initial means for holding and guiding the plate or strip (1), provided upstream of the bending means in relation to the direction of displacement F of the said plate or strip in the form of a cylinder (4) over which the plate or strip passes and a roller (5) intended to press against the bottom of the groove (2) in the said plate or strip (1).
  12. Device according to claim 11, characterised in that an alignment guide in the form of a small bar (7) is provided between the initial holding and guiding means and the bending means.
  13. Device according to one of claims 6 to 12, characterised in that it moreover includes a means for flattening out the lips (2a, 2b) of the groove (2) in the form of pressing cylinders (15, 16), provided downstream of the re-flattening means.
  14. Device according to one of claims 7, 11 and 13, characterised in that the means for driving the plate or strip (1) in the longitudinal direction relative to its groove (2) are formed at least partially by the motorisation (19) of at least one of the wheels (9) of the bending means and/or of the initial holding and guiding cylinder (4) and/or of at least one of the cylinders (16) for flattening out the lips (2a, 2b) of the groove (2).
  15. Device according to claims 11 and 13 together for a plate or strip (1) moreover equipped with a substantially right angle (1') in order to form an angle section, characterised in that the cylinder (4) of the initial holding and guiding means and one of the cylinders (16) of the flattening means include a peripheral circular groove (4', 16') for the passage of the substantially right angle (1') of the plate or strip (1).
