  • the guide cheeks preferable are rounded, rather than sharply pointed, in shape to facilitate smooth application and cutting of the tape.

Recessing the cutting edge in this manner helps to minimize damage (e.g. tearing) to the substrate to which the tape is applied when the tape is cut. It will generally be desirable to position the cutting edge of the blade near the edge of the cheek guides on the side of the cheek guides away from the guide roller 10 and in an orientation such that the cutting edge falls in a plane which is approximately parallel to said edge.

In alternative embodiments, the number of parts is even further reduced where one or both of the guide applicator 10 and the blade 15 are not separate but are integral components of the housing component 1 and/or cover 2. It is a further advantage of the described tape dispenser 4 that the tape is completely enclosed within the housing, other than the short tape end protruding from the discharge opening 8. This helps avoid contamination of the unused tape, which is a problem for the conventional "open" type of tape dispenser.
  • a special holder can be provided which surrounds at least the upper exterior of the tape dispenser 4, so that the guide applicator 10 and the cutting blade 15 are turned upwards and the user can pull out a piece of tape in the usual manner.
  • the tape dispenser may be fitted during storage with a cap which encloses at least the discharge opening 8 (preferably, also the guide roller and blade) and protects the exposed end of tape which projects from said discharge opening.

Claims (20)

  1. Un distributeur de ruban (4) avec un boîtier segmenté horizontalement en deux pièces (3), un support pour un rouleau de ruban, une ouverture de décharge (8), un applicateur de guidage (10) fixé au boîtier (3) très proche de l'ouverture de décharge (8), au moyen duquel le ruban peut être appliqué sur un substrat, et une lame (15) avec un bord tranchant, située en aval de l'applicateur de guidage (10), où le boîtier (3) a une forme anatomique allongée qui peut être tenu dans la main fermée et au moins un renfoncement supérieur peu profond (22) dans le boîtier est fourni proche de et adjacent à l'applicateur de guidage (10) afin d'exercer une pression sur l'applicateur de guidage (10) par l'index, caractérisé en ce qu'il est également muni d'une joue de guidage disposée adjacente à et le long de la lame pour maintenir le ruban en place sur l'applicateur de guidage.
  2. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que l'applicateur de guidage (10) est en saillie au-delà de l'ouverture de décharge (8) et qu'il reste une petite ouverture entre l'applicateur de guidage et le boîtier (3) pour permettre d'y faire passer le ruban.
  3. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que la distance entre l'ouverture de décharge (8) et la lame coupante (15) va d'environ 0,25 à environ 0,75 pouce (environ 0,635 cm à environ 1,905 cm).
  4. Le distributeur de ruban selon l'une des revendications 1 à 3, caractérisé en ce que le boîtier (3) est conçu avec au moins un renfoncement latéral peu profond (22) proche de l'applicateur de guidage (10) qui permet de manipuler facilement le boîtier à l'aide du pouce et du majeur.
  5. Le distributeur de ruban selon l'une des revendications 1 à 4, caractérisé en ce que la lame (15) est une seule pièce et comprend au moins deux brides de serrage (13) sur l'extrémité de la lame à l'opposé du bord tranchant de la lame, ce qui peut être fixée sur une patte d'attache (12) du boîtier.
  6. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 5, caractérisé en ce que les brides de serrage (13) sont raccordées l'une à l'autre à leurs extrémités avant et arrière.
  7. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 5 ou 6, caractérisé en ce que les deux joues de guidage (26) sont positionnées à l'opposé l'une de l'autre dans le boîtier (3) près de la lame (15).
  8. Le distributeur de ruban selon l'une des revendications 1 à 7, caractérisé en ce que l'applicateur de guidage est un galet pouvant tourner (10) et est muni d'une patte d'attache tournante (9) dans le boîtier (3).
  9. Le distributeur de ruban selon l'une des revendications 1 à 8, caractérisé en ce que le rouleau de ruban est monté de manière à pouvoir tourner sur une patte d'attache creuse (6) du boîtier et est maintenu à une petite distance de la paroi du boîtier par des séparateurs radiaux (24).
  10. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le boîtier (3) a une forme semi-circulaire cylindrique dans la partie rouleau de ruban et une forme de cône étroit dans la partie galet de guidage et lame.
  11. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 10, caractérisé en ce que le boîtier (3) a une forme légèrement cambrée dans les parties applicateur de guidage et lame.
  12. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 7, caractérisé en ce que la lame (15) est légèrement renfoncée par rapport à l'extrémité la plus extérieure des joues de guidage (26).
  13. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 7, caractérisé en ce que les joues de guidage (26) sont de forme arrondie.
  14. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 7, caractérisé en ce que le bord tranchant de la lame (15) est positionné près des bords des joues de guidage (26) à distance de l'applicateur de guidage (10) et est à peu près parallèle auxdits bords.
  15. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce qu'une encoche (29) est présente dans la surface extérieure du bord d'une pièce (1) du boîtier (3) qui est adjacent à un bord de la deuxième pièce (2) du boîtier (3).
  16. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que la lame (15) a un bord tranchant muni d'une pluralité de dents.
  17. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 16, caractérisé en ce que les dents comprennent à la fois des dents courtes et des dents longues et que lesdites dents courtes alternent avec lesdites dents longues le long du bord tranchant.
  18. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que la lame (15) est en métal.
  19. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le distributeur de ruban est adapté pour distribuer un rouleau de ruban ayant un diamètre hors-tout de 3,81 cm (1,5 pouce) ou moins et contenant au moins environ 762 cm (300 pouces) de ruban.
  20. Le distributeur de ruban selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le distributeur de ruban est adapté pour distribuer un rouleau de ruban ayant un diamètre hors-tout de 3,175 cm (1,25 pouce) ou moins et contenant au moins environ 889 cm (350 pouces) de ruban.
