Description

Platine universelle pour alternateur de véhicules automobiles . Universal plate for alternator of motor vehicles.
The present invention relates to accessories used in motor vehicles, and more particularly a universal plate for a motor vehicle alternator.
The electrical equipment and accessories used in the field of motor vehicles are very varied and often adapted specifically to specific vehicle models, whether they are passenger or utility vehicles. This observation can be made in particular for the alternators fitted to motor vehicles, which are rarely interchangeable. Sometimes even the same alternator cannot be used from one year to the next, on the same vehicle model. One of the main disadvantages in this technical field is to oblige the equipment manufacturers as well as the professionals in charge of repairs and replacement of parts, to have a large stock of spare parts of very diverse characteristics, adapted to the many existing models. Thus, an auto repairer is generally in the obligation to keep constantly in stock more than 60 models of alternators in order to be able to meet a significant demand arising from the need to regularly replace the alternators. Auto parts wholesalers must be able to constantly meet repairers' supply requests and are therefore faced with a difficult storage problem because they have to maintain even larger stocks, sometimes greater than over a hundred models of alternators.
Professionals repairing motor vehicles are therefore faced with a need to be able to have alternators capable of adapting to different models of vehicles, in order to reduce the amount of stocks maintained by wholesalers of spare parts. and automobile repairers, and to be able to carry out repair and maintenance operations on various models of motor vehicles using as few as possible alternators and spare parts. This is why it appeared desirable to be able to have a device making it possible to use a reduced number of alternator models, or even a single model, on different vehicles.
The present invention therefore relates to a support plate making it possible to adapt a small number of alternators, or even a single alternator, to a large number of models of motor vehicles.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the alternator plate has two lower legs, at least one of which is movable by rotation and / or by translation. According to a preferred embodiment, of the plate, at least one of the lower legs is movable by translation along an axis parallel to the shaft of the alternator.
The adjustable upper legs for tensioning the alternator belt are positioned by fixing on the alternator bearing, and preferably they cooperate with circumferential fixing and positioning holes provided on the front bearing of the alternator. This arrangement of the lower fixing lugs makes it possible to fix the plate carrying the alternator on the engine of different models of motor vehicles while adapting the positioning of the belt thanks to the upper lugs integral with the bearing of the alternator. This can be done without the need to modify the engines or alternator supports of existing engines. The type of alternator mounted on the plate according to the present invention is then conventional and standardized. In particular, the possibility of fixing the plate on the engine by means of two adjustable lower fixing lugs ensures the mounting of the same plate, and consequently of the same alternator, on different vehicles. It is thus possible, for an automotive repair professional, to keep in stock only one model of alternator, or at most two models, instead of several tens in the case of conventional alternators.
If necessary, the mounting lugs can be adapted to various categories of motor vehicle engines. The equipment thus made available to automotive professionals is then simply constituted by a single model of plate combined with a set of a few lower fixing lugs facilitating adaptation to the diversity of existing engines. The characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear in more detail in the following description relating to two preferred embodiments, with reference to the accompanying drawings, which represent:
Figure 1: a schematic side view of a plate according to the invention, in combination with a standard type alternator.
Figure 2 : une vue de face, en bout, de la platine et de l'alternateur représentés sur la Figure 1.Figure 2: a front view, at the end, of the plate and the alternator shown in Figure 1.

Figure 3: a side view of an alternative embodiment of the plate according to the invention. In Figure 1 is shown schematically an alternator (1) of the standard type, mounted on the lower fixing lugs (2a) and (2b). These two lower legs serve as a plate, but of course, an intermediate plate can be provided between the fixing lugs and the alternator.
Upper legs (3) for tensioning the alternator belt are fixed on the bearing (4), as shown in more detail in Figure 2.
