Definitions
- the technical field of the invention is that of close defense weapons intended for the general public and which can neutralize an attacker without causing him irreversible injuries. They are essentially weapons capable of firing deformable projectiles, which cannot be modified by simple commercial tools to transform them into lethal weapons, capable, in particular, of firing offensive projectiles.
- the ammunition which is loaded with deformable projectiles can easily be mounted or removed from a weapon, without offering the slightest possibility of being disassembled into several elements.
- Weapons adapted to receive this type of ammunition cannot be transformed into offensive weapons by simple substitution of the deformable projectiles by hard projectiles. Any attempt would result in damage to the ammunition or even by a burst which would make it inoperative.
- the present invention relates to an ammunition for a handgun intended to fire neutralization projectiles, characterized in that it is monolithic and forms a rotary magazine comprising several chambers each receiving a cartridge which cannot be extracted from said ammunition.
- the ammunition according to the invention can be adapted either on a self-defense weapon comprising a protuberance to avoid shooting at point-blank range, or on a pre-existing offensive weapon irreversibly modified to transform it into a non-lethal self-defense weapon.
- each cartridge consists only of a deformable projectile, a charge of powder and a primer, these three elements being able to be dissociated, the cartridge comprising neither individual external envelope, nor fluff, which reduces its cost.
- the absence of a socket and of a wad makes it possible in particular to avoid the emission of additional projectiles and eliminates any risk of serious injuries.
- the projectile is substantially in the form of a sphere, this projectile becoming substantially cylindrical with rounded ends when it is engaged in the rotary magazine.
- the deformable projectile has the capacity to crash on impact in the form of a wafer.
- the diameter ratio between the free projectile in the form of a sphere and the bore of the rotary magazine intended to receive it is between 1.2 and 1.7.
- the projectile is qualified as free when it is not subjected to any constraint.
- the bores of the rotary magazine intended to receive the projectiles have a diameter greater than 9.3 mm making it possible to avoid the use of offensive cartridges of standard caliber 9mm.
- the body of the rotary magazine is a revolver barrel made of plastic material loaded with solid particles.
- the solid particles consist of short glass fibers.
- the barrel has 6 chambers intended to house the cartridges.
- the wall between each bore and the external surface of the rotary magazine resists the ejection pressure of the deformable projectile but can rupture if another projectile is engaged in the bore.
- the rotary magazine is designed to remain intact after each shot of deformable projectiles.
- the replacement of the deformable projectiles by heavier projectiles would cause the bursting of the ammunition according to the invention and would render the weapon unusable.
- the munition according to the invention has the advantage to be adaptable to all types of neutralization weapons intended for firing deformable projectiles having or not a protuberance.
- said ammunition being made of light material, it allows the weapon on which it will be mounted to retain a high degree maneuverability.
- this ammunition constitutes a security insurance because it prohibits any manipulation on the weapon that could transform into an offensive or lethal weapon.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 A detailed description is given below of the preferred embodiment of a munition according to the invention with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2.
- Figure 1 is a partial axial longitudinal section along plane II of a munition according to the invention.
- Figure 2 is a cross section along the plane II-II of a munition according to the invention.
- an ammunition according to the invention consists of a rotary magazine uniformly distributed around a circle and intended to each accommodate a cartridge.
- a cartridge consists of a deformable projectile 38, a charge of powder 39 and a primer 40, these three elements being separable.
- each chamber 36 has an enlarged upstream bore 37 in which the deformable projectile 38 is embedded and a downstream bore in which the powder charge 39 serving for propelling the projectile 38 and the primer 40 are inserted.
- the axes of the axes downstream and upstream bores are not in line with one another, since bore 37 intended to receive the deformable projectile 38 has been machined not only to receive said projectile 38 but also to provide a thickness e between each bore 37 and the outer wall 42 of the barrel 41 having to withstand the pressure of ejection of a deformable projectile 38 and which could rupture if another type of projectile was engaged in the chamber 36.
- the propellant powder 39 consists of 5 centigrams d '' a fine simple base powder, based on nitrocellulose, manufactured by SNPE and primer 40 is standard with central percussion.
- the deformable projectile 38 has a substantially spherical shape, the projectile acquiring a substantially cylindrical shape with two rounded ends when it is housed in the bore 37.
- the body of the rotary magazine 41 is produced from a barrel, formed by a plastic material loaded with solid particles and more specifically with short glass fibers, this barrel being rigid and undeformable.
- the deformable projectile 38 which is made of polyurethane and which has an initial diameter of 13mm when it is free has the capacity to crush on impact in the form of a wafer of approximately 35mm in diameter.
- the projectile 38 deformed in the barrel 41 instantly resumes a spherical shape as soon as it is expelled from the barrel of the weapon and is substantially in the form of a flexible ball on impact.
- the first step consists in defining the structural and dimensional characteristics of the empty barrel 41 so as to adapt it to the weapon on which it will be mounted.
- the second step consists in determining as finely as possible the characteristics of the primer 40 / charge of propellant powder 39 pair to allow the expulsion of the deformable projectile 38 without damaging or modifying the barrel 41 while communicating to said projectile a sufficient emission speed.
- the rotary magazine 41 is used as a standard revolver barrel. Indeed, after having placed the barrel 41 on its axis of rotation in the carcass of the weapon, a pressure fully on the trigger causes the arming of the dog first then the percussion of the primer followed by the setting fire of the propellant powder and finally the expulsion of the deformable projectile 38. To fire the other projectiles 38 from the barrel 41, the operation must be repeated, this non-rechargeable rotary magazine being discarded after firing all the cartridges and a new magazine rotating being placed in the weapon.

Abstract
